Alla Sizova was one of the most beautiful dancers and a very kind, humble person.
Olga Zapotkina was a stunner! Such regal beauty! Alla is unsurpassed as Aurora, even today. This is a sumptuous production, thanks for posting!
Alla Sizova is beyond perfection and much more
This is really an all-star performance
isn't it!
Very significant: A very young and lovely Makarova dancing Bluebird. Six years later she would defect to the west. The sublime Yuri Soloviev died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in 1977.
that's terrible
THank you for sharing. This is the Tour de Force performance from the Sergeyev Kirov. Sadly, we cannot see this perfection these days. Especially opening fairies become messy. Minchenok, Korneev, Kovaleva, Fedicheva, Sakhnovskaya, everyone deserves special mention.
what a pity the absence of panov's and makarova's solos .
@@pediatrapaola making the longest repertoire into 1:22 was crazy. we generally spend 4 hours for this including violin intermission. they should have preserve all the perf.
pleasure. and, as Maximova said in a doco, it's often just about technique these days
Wow! I was not expecting to like this this much!! It's amazing!! Everything about it is compelling!!
What a beautiful boat.
Great. Thank you. Back in the day the then Kirov and Bolshoi made it to Australia fairly regularly: Sizova, Soloviev, Plisetskaya and pre-defection Baryshnikov, along with many other great dancers toured..not least N. Pavlova. But, so wonderful to watch this performance. Thank you!
Uma das mais belas performances que vi.
Alla Sizova e Iuri Soloviev eram fantásticos
Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wonderful! A perfect group of dancers! It's really weird to see Kovaleva dancing. She's probably the best teacher ever. And she's a lovely woman.
This is fantastic. I have the dvd but it’s so much easier to watch it on RUclips. I just love it, thank you.
pleasure Sima. i agree - maybe DVDs will become like cassette players! all will be online.
Absolutely superb! Love Yuri. Thank-you for posting.
pleasure - he was unique
I can see now how Rudolf Nureyev recreated some of this staging for his production of The Sleeping Beauty for the National Ballet of Canada in 1972. And this is the first time I've ever seen Carabosse dance on pointe!
The dancing in this is sublime, but the filmmaking is also really great! Shot composition, editing, lighting, camera movement-all consistently interesting without detracting from the dancers. Check out the sequence at 1:07:14 !!! Also young Makarova at 1:15:48
yes, dancing and filmmaking go together so beautifully - not always the case
what a gem, thanks for posting
pleasure :)
unfortunatly the solos of panov and makarova went lost
Yes I was so disappointed. ☹️
Thank you for this upload. An all-star cast indeed. Sizova really was in a galaxy of her own, i can't get over her petit allegro
yes, her petit allegro is delightful
This is missing a chunk of act two and the beginning of act three. I still want to know if the original footage of the bluebird variations exists somewhere? It's hard to imagine they would cut out two of the highlights of the ballet for "time-saving" reasons. I can believe they were cut out after Makarova and Panov left the USSR, but maybe there's a video archive which still has them and could be restored?
This set design is beyond stunning! Do you know who created it?
Thank you!
Wait a minute, New Dream Sleeping Beauty Ballet Collection; The Beauty Sleeping in the Forest 1829 Ballet, The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods 1889 Ballet, Princess Thorn Rose 1904 Ballet, and The Marriage of Aurora 1922 Ballet.
Wow!
Queen to King; Don't worry, the Fairies will protect Aurora. And I'm quite sure she can learn to master every sharp object well and wisely in time.
She is the only Aurora for me.
i admire her enormously too :)
😍❤️
Hi, John. Do you know if there are still DVDs of this version for sale anywhere? I very much would like to obtain one but the frame in the one released by Kultur is unfortunately cut. Thanks for sharing the original version!
Some years ago , a japanese web site sold this wide screen version( may be the PAL DVD)
i'm sorry i don't know :( if i find out i'll comment again.
It is Carabosse really Natalia Dudinskaya ? Does not seems to me Natalia
i think it is - i got the cast list from the DVD :) and she is credited here www.imdb.com/title/tt0058611/
Why doesn't the Fairy of Crystal Fountain wear Blue?
Why doesn't the Fairy of Woodland Glade wear Green?
Why doesn't the Sapphire Fairy wear Sapphires?
Why doesn't the Canary Fairy of Songbirds wear Yellow?
36:30 My favorite scene
mine too - love the way the music anticipates what is to follow
Why doesn't the Fairy of Golden Vine wear Orange?
Why doesn't Carabosse wear Black?
Why doesn't the Golden Fairy wear Gold?
Why doesn't the Diamond Fairy wear Diamonds?
What? No male solo? This wonderful ballet should be performed often, but had the choreographer no athletic male dancer eager to match the wonder of the female soloists, to balance the interplay?
They cut about an hour of the ballet out. All that incredible music...not to be heard. Not worth watching.
14:47 começa a minha cena preferida da fada amarela dançando
Why doesn't the Fairy of Enchanted Garden wear Pink?
Why doesn't the Lilac Fairy wear Violet?
Why doesn't the Silver Fairy wear Silver?
