Hello, Carl - Thanks for reaching out to us! There are a couple of good ways to remove a stripped screw such as using a screw extractor or opening the jaws of an electric drill to grab it and back it out. It really depends on how far the screw is driven into the material. I would recommend calling into 1-888-824-5316 and speaking to one of our deck designers. With a few more details, they'll definitely have a few more creative options for you! Thank you!
@@gingerhogan4899 the reason it won't go in is because there's another screw interfering with its entry. You cannot drive it in because it might damage the other screw. You can try taking it out with an impact drill. If that fails, you can always use a bit on a drill to grind it away so that it's deep enough to put the plug in.
So a pre-drilled clearance hole is not required? What if the deck board is not completely flush to the joist? The screw would create a permanent gap between the deck board and the joist, right? I watched a video from the UK that said to drill a 5/32 hole first. What is your advice? Thank you.
I did a test run before I resurfaced my deck with TimberTech. I laid a few boards and ran into some issues. First of all, the screws and bit has a star pattern and not the square drive shown on the video. Was very confused as to when the screw was properly seated. The small foam/rubber on the star bit gave inconsistent depths. But I did get them to go in at the proper depth after several attempts. The BIG issue was: They won't come out! As soon as you try to reverse the screw\w, it immediately strips. Not Good!

I just completed a deck using this system. Yes it’s extra work, but the results are great.
I love this product. It's easy to work with and the end looks beautiful.

Do you have fasteners that work with lightweight galvanized steel (LGS) joists instead of pressure treated lumber ?
First time I've seen that
