I don't know why, but every time I watch movies with scenes like this where there are lavish balls and gorgeous old-fashioned ball gowns and architecture, I feel almost nostalgic. I want to go back to that era and dance at a ball in a beautiful gown. Maybe I'm an old soul.
While such things still exist (Just need a good bit of looking for it). It just seems so magical and fun. Everyone dressing up knowing exactly what they're participating in.
If we went back to the early 1900's we'd be starving and have no knowledge of these balls. We certainly wouldn't be invited. Do you think your close ancestors were there?
Christine: Raoul, theres 100+ people in the other room in masks, singing. Raoul: And? Christine: ....and there is a masked man in the basement who wants me to sing for him. Who will kill to make me the star of the opera. Raoul: I dont understand how the two are connected.
You'd be surprised at what a child can fall in love with. I remember when I used to work in the jewelry department of my store a customer came to the counter with his little girl and told me that she loved images of the virgin Mary ever since she was a baby. He had said that when she saw the image of her in stained glass at their church that she would keep her eyes on it every time he turned around when he was holding her. And she loved the more simple images of her instead of the stylized or fancy ones. I thought that was one of the sweetest things and to this day it still makes me smile.
I aculy went to go see this like a couple weeks ago in New York and everything is spot on from what I'm seeing from these vids and the show in Newport was a play
I would have seen it in Sydney Australia 2 months ago with my mum, but because of covid, we got locked down, then it got rescheduled for next year, we just cancelled our tickets and got a refund ;-;
@@fatak5106 THATS WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING! to my friend who loves the movie, and doesn't like the west end musical. All the costumes are in black and white, yet the lyrics sing about "grinning yellows" and "spinning reds". It bothers me so much. Yes the costumes here are beautiful, but they just look bland and blends in with the lighting a lot.
TO A NEW CHANDELIER! I know, they changed the crash, but if they did 2 then one would be better out of anger, then the other to get away, that would be epic! Why change something so good?
i really hate this scene so much. the cut off phrases from the guests, the colorless costumes, the weird dancing... this scene really misses the mark :(

We should bring masquerade balls back.
You were there many times in past lives

@@Polomance862Until the ending, at least...
I don't think Raoul and Christine understood the word "masquerade"
+Professor Ratigan97 Ikr! There's no way the Phantom will find them dressed as themselves!
+Natsume Raina If you look at Christine's hand when her and Raoul start to dance, she has a mask. I don't think Raoul does though.
Jjjaa xd
find her whining about her secret engagement whilost wearing the ring in full view duh Christine 😣
Natsume Raina THE WHOLE POINT OF A MASQUERADE IS TO HIDE YOUR IDENTITY!!!!
'Secret engagement' and a ring on her neck, kissing in the crowd😅
Also wearing pink at probably a requested 'wear black and white' affair didn't help either. It's like she wanted to stick out.
The most beautiful "Masquerade" scene ever!
*party don’t start till phantom walk in*
I don't think anyone quite understands the thought that goes into everything in Phantom especially this scene
the sets and costumes in this film are breathtaking
Masqueradeeeeeeeeeee
1:41 Whiteboy is getting his vogue on. Slay that ballroom hunty!
“What a pity that our phantom can’t be here!”
*forgets to knock on wood*
2:39 best mask. Wish they gave it 2 more seconds to be properly appreciated
good catch. Blink and you miss it! It looks like Queen Elizabeth the 1st, but YT quality is too poor
Christine's gown is so pretty!
Raoul: "Christine, what are you afraid of?"
Me: *laughs nervously* Hahahahahahahahahaha. . . .yeah, I don't think you wanna know. . .
Christine: Raoul, theres 100+ people in the other room in masks, singing.

I was so little when I first watched this and feel in love with it. People were surprised that a child loved a musical full of opera.
well, who is hungry?.pnj
Same here. I was 3 years old when I first saw and fell in love immediately

This is a big mood... *MASQUERAAAAADE~!*
Favorite song of the movie 😍😍
I can see why...it's a great song and all but I believe Past the Point of No Return is brilliant.
I can’t be the only one who wanted a masquerade 18th birthday party
The choreography is way too underrated 😩
I'm a 14-year-old living in the 21st century that's got extremely addicted to TPOTO recently.
same
+Serena same for me last year
Are you my long lost twin..?
About the age of 5 for me.
6 years old for me☺️
Ah, la belle époque…
"What pity that the Phantom cant be Here"
Me and the Phantom:"Just wait my freinds"
Stan vogueing masked man at the top of the stairs-
I'm playing this song at my next brithday party
I’ll love this song
It's interesting that the costumes in Masquerade are black and white, and so were the costumes in the horse race scene in My Fair Lady.
It's quite interesting, but so dull looking. It loses all the vibrance from the stage Musical

@@Serenityellie true true, we all can call out almost every costumes from the stage production... But hardly in here.
at 0:20 there is a Bal Masque Framed Poster. Is there any way to find out this Poster name? Are they Available?
Why are they all wearing black and white while singing about smiling and all the colors? And WHY DO THEY TALK HALF THE LYRICS?
Yeah, I get that. It has bothered me all these years...
It's some bad choice on stylistic scenes. The musical costumes are really vibrant and full of colors.
The fan dance i used to practice that alot in my room to dance along with the movie
Between Christine and Mera, Ocean Master can't catch a break when it comes to engagements.
This is my Guns and Ships...to this day I cannot sing this song. I swear to God--I've tried and still fail.
I've heard it a million times and still cannot for the life of me get the lyrics right. Lol I just mumble until it's time to yell MASQUERADE
I still can't believe myself I watched people singing for 2 hour instead having a 1 hour conversation
1:59 - Batman, screen right
Supposedly Ramin Karimloo was in this song in particular? I’d like some confirmation.
I think hes in 1:31 when they say "but who can name the face" but I'm not completely sure
Yes, he's the one who played Christine's father, he can be seen at the Angel of Music scene, where he's in the small portrait.
Wait. I'm lost. What kind of party is this?
I think, I _think_ that it may be a Masquerade. But I'm not 100% sure on that one.
Masquerade, of course
@@beckyc.4945 no no man it's obviously a wedding I dont remember them saying anything about a masquerade
It's definitely a COSTUME BALL! HIDDEN FACES AROUND US ALL!
it's taken me a full year to come up with this theory BUT... I hypothesize that it's a gender reveal party
Me encanta... : )
XD This roast session was a preview for the opening night/main event/finale!
Anyone here in 2021??
SO BEAUTIFUL 🌹 WHEN THINGS GET BACK TO NORMAL I WOULD LOVE TO GO TO THE OPERA WITH MY FRIEND KYLE VILLATORO 🎟️🎭🌹💞👫🥂
and the award to the Queen of overacting goes to the woman at 1:30 in the black and white dress saying "face" with such hate and distain.
Masquerade paper faces on parade
Like si vienes del trabajo de artes de la profe Myriam Carolina 😎👌

The Phantom like Maleficent:
- I didn't get my invitation.
The only masquerade I would’ve hated to miss lol 😂 shit was thumpin
Did I see someone dab?
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina brought me here

Lmao I was so high when I said that
Chi é qua da sabrina??
Bioshock if plasmids didn’t exist
남주 prince Hans 닮았다ㅋㅋㅋ똑같네
Solamente Raoul y Christine no tenían máscaras! XD! Jajajajajaja! Jajajajajaja!
👀
What
"Every face a different shade".... Errr nope...it's all black and white.
I hate the movie for changing the esthetics of this scene.

@@rachnathakur7321 I said I hate this scene, didn't I? 😂😂
This is a different version of masquerade. Why are you comparing this scene to a Broadway show?
