4:28 I believe Luncheon Kingdom was inspired by Pompeii in Italy because there is the old town ( the place that you land on in the odyssey), which is abandoned so it must be referencing Pompeii. Also, there is a volcano behind the town, which is just like Mount Vesuvius!
Hey fun fact. The reason that the old tracks sound way less full than the final ones is because the old ones are made completely in software while the final ones were actually recorded live
When saw the first trailer for the game, I was super bummed because I assumed that it would only use synthesized music. It was a big relief when they released Jump up Super Star.
All of these changes are a testament to the quality for which Nintendo strives. They could've released the game with the original music, original graphics, etc. and it would've been great. But they put that Nintendo polish on it to make it a masterwork.
Something I've heard many times from game developers is that polish is the difference between alright and good, good and great, and great and fantastic.
8:04 listen son. I am tired of that one voice clip of Peach shouting “MMAR-RIOOH!!!!” I’ve heard it since Mario Galaxy 1, it was in Galaxy 2, i heard it more than enough times in 3D Land, and now in this Odyssey trailer. It was very well put together voice clip and fit the mood in Galaxy, but Nintendo just used it too much! SHUT UP!!!! (I accidentally spelled out sh*t trying to spell shut)
I know one u missed! In the cap kingdom on top of the archway where you finally get crappy after chasing him down, in the final game there are purple cap coins. In the trailer, They’re gold coins!
I actually much prefer the early version of this section of gusty garden 13:28 the more tame guitar sounds much more woodsy compared to the final version. I wish they kept it like that.
Did you know in beta odyssey wasnt cappy? Why? Here are reasons: 1. In first trailer mario had diferent logo which means ther wasnt cappy 2.mario had similar hat movement like in final game but i dont think it could capture something (hat had hat throw, hat jump and more) 3. There wasnt nuts.Because it wouldnt make sense if mario could break break nuts with his soft hat. 4.it had different intro cutscene because there was no one who could grab mario's hat and fix it.I think the intro looked like this: bowser's hat threw mario away and the hat what got stomped wasnt destroyed by the rotating things on airship(i am cz man so dont mind me) and cacade looks like was first level of early odyssey. Some moons was replaced like in wooded kingdom. 5. Odyssey got also changed: the white cap on door is different in final game. Inoticed more changes on odyssey and early game. And i also think the Steam gardens was renamed This coment is from 90% based on first trailer.
All the differences between the final and early music tracks are mostly due to how game soundtracks are produced, it's an earlier MIDI version (using pretty decent sound samples of course) used as a placeholder before they actually recorded the tracks with live musicians (or had it partially recorded, and definitely not fully mixed). That's why it sounds "more muted," as you say. It can imitate, but not quite replace real recordings. It could get much closer to the desired sound with a lot more tweaking, but I'm sure they felt no real need to expend time and effort on simple temporary tracks. I mean, there's obviously going to be changes made, but a lot of it is just due to the timeline of events shortly before and leading up to release. That said, your videos are great, I've been a fan for a long time and to have this SMO video out so quickly after release is pretty impressive. Good job.
Hey hey, thanks for putting up the amazing video, friend. Doing these finds with you was *truly* a real blast of fun. Anyways, have a Merry upcoming Christmas and New Year. \o/
I assume someone told you by now that the difference in music is because one’s a MIDI track proof of concept and the other is recorded by a real orchestra. I just wanted to make sure :)
Look, don't judge me but...when you jump on the globe on the Odyssey a song will play. 2 songs, "Jump up Superstar!" or the final song in the game when you beat, "The Darker Side of The Moon" and climb up the tower. Well, I almost cry when I hear them. It plays it as if it were a music box. And that last song almost made me cry normally. It's sad but it's tears of joy! But, kind of leaving out the whole joy factor...
Don’t forget, It’s also fused with GameCube and Super Nintendo too. GameCube because the buttons, the controller, and the startup has GameCube similarities, and Super Nintendo because the side ways controllers looks exactly like the snes controller since it has shoulder buttons and 4 buttons
8:20 His hand position changes slightly. in the beta he makes a V shape with his hand after he throws it. and in the final it looks like they’re not lined up and has more of an arch
Staff RolL to early version. *me* "ok, this is nice" *me* when hearing the final version then lisstening to the early version* "I NEED TO TURN MY BASS UP! HELP!"
Super mario odyssey is basically crash of the titans because of the main gameplay mechanic and basically every 3d mario game that allows you to explore and be in open world environments
I remember seeing the rocket in the New Donk City rooftop park in E3 footage. When I reached that in the game, I couldn't find the rocket and felt confused. I'm glad they moved the rocket to where they did. It feels much better there. Just goes to show the massive amounts of attention to detail they put into this game.
I’ve been waiting for this, I haven’t watched it yet but I know I’m going to enjoy this Edit: I’ve watched it and now I feel like this was an early xmas present AND THX FOR THE HEART

I don't know about you guys, but I think this game went through a TON of changes. So much so you mention a TON a TON of times. I think you need to get that verbal tick sorted out mate. But still, good vid, just need a TON of script changing to not come off repetitive
When it comes to early game music, I've noticed they use sequenced music. Later on in production, they go and hire live performers to play the music. I just hope Isle Delfino is added as DLC, if Breath of the Wild can get DLC, who says Odyssey can't?
That would be sick!
True dat
Dlc doesn't belong in a mainstream Mario title
I want more costumes as dlc
If they don't we have model imports! Right?
9:25 in japanese they are still called grand moons
Wonder why?
@@TheSmart-CasualGamer cause Nintendo was formed in Japan?
dad
@@TheSmart-CasualGamer Japanese probably doesn't have a term for Power Moon so that when translating it back to English it says exactly Power Moon.

MkStarfighter It's more evident in the Spanish version. The volcano is named "Monte Delisubio" (Mount Deli-suvius)
@@jorgecaimanque6951 In french it's "Piton du Frouno" and the actual name is "Piton de la fournaise" and it's the name of an actual volcano.
MkStarfighter as an italian, I didn't notice that
What if you close your eyes?
Possibile
Hey fun fact. The reason that the old tracks sound way less full than the final ones is because the old ones are made completely in software while the final ones were actually recorded live
The “Grand Moon” text WAS used in the final game, in the Japanese version.
Oh okay interesting

Btw Pauline was originally the PRINCESS of NDC but they knew that wouldn't fit so they made her mayor
That’s pretty interesting
The drumset changes look like it went from a Yamaha stage custom to a pearl masterworks.

i have a theory. i think that mario is actually from the brooklyn equivalent of new donk city.
Thats true in the Super Mario Bros Super Show

Flying Flanker but he lives in Brooklyn

Pre alpha beta build of super Mario Odyssey.
Super Mario 64
Green Mario Yo same pro pic
Oh shit.
So That Means Super Mario Odyssey Was In Development For 21 Years
Digital Toaster lol ikr
Green Mario no shit, Sherlock
The drowning Animation in the Demo was WAY MORE DISTURBING/HORRIFYING. And I think thats the reason Why they changed it...xD

DubKid 64 ok, I didn’t notice that at first, and now that I did, I honestly think it is funny🤣
gavin chuley same
Is it the 'No filter' part.

The early main theme sounds like something straight out of a Wii game!
Beta64 - Super Mario Cereal?
oh my god, yes
Lmao
Chris Roberts At the beginning, Super Mario Cereal was just soup...
But is cereal soup?
SuperMemeGlaceon471 that was horrid.
Up
9:04 the glitch that freezes Mario above the rope makes all these 99999 scores?!?
Seems legit
It's a stupid complicated letter glitch, or as I like to call it, the M clip.
He is talking about the patched Talkatoo glitch.
I know one u missed! In the cap kingdom on top of the archway where you finally get crappy after chasing him down, in the final game there are purple cap coins. In the trailer, They’re gold coins!
lmao crappy
Crappypyoypyoy 💩
"See ya, crappy!"
VJMPX are you going to be a racing game
crappy is my favorite character
The early versions of the music have a strange kick to it. It could be sound thousands of times better if you mashed it up with the original.
A half-day at school? Then a Beta64 video? DAMN I AM LUCKY, THANK YOU!
EDIT: Proudly supporting you since 2012, man. Happy 5th Betaversary!
ME TOO 😁😁😁😁😁😁
I FINISHED SCHOOL AGES AGO
+Typical Bacon Hair ME TOO
aw you dont got christmas break do you?
Y' know, I kinda like more simpler version of the staff roll theme but the Final version of the wooded kingdom theme is a huge improvement.
The heart in the first trailer has no yellow bottom, and it also seems not to have eyes.
Pretty sure that’s just a regular heart, not a Life-Up Heart.
It’s because that was at 2 health, not 3
I actually much prefer the early version of this section of gusty garden 13:28 the more tame guitar sounds much more woodsy compared to the final version. I wish they kept it like that.
You mean Steam Gardens
Absolutely amazing! Take as much time as you need, after all, quality over quantity!
I love the wooden kingdom song, especially the organ part
It is soooooooo fun to watch these videos and see how the games change over development.
“The bustling metropolis filled with horrifying-looking real-life humans”

4:10 STRONG BAD/HOMESTAR RUNNER REFERENCE! (I FEEL THE NOSTALGIA ALREADY)
12:59 sounds a bit compressed
13:19 sounds even more compressed
Its meant to sound like that
software music
I expect that type of quality from early 2008 club penguin
The second is like a song from a mall or sth
Amazing job, man! I love all the little edits and quick jokes, and I hope more people see your work from here on out!
4:10
Reference to Email Virus, Homestar Runner?
"Alright Edgar, now drop a train on 'em"
Some of my buses!
This is so amazing! Beta, you've outdone yourself yet again, and I had no idea that the game had so many tiny changes. Keep up the work!
9:25 Fun fact: Multi Moons are still called Grand Moons or "グランドムーン" in the Japanese version of the game (and probably others)
This is the first time I've seen a beta64 video in such a long time! Good to see this channel still has quality!

Imagine Mario Odyssey fit onto a 3DS, or some sort of superpowered 3DS.
Ommo you get 3d land lol
Ommo the switch is already portable
Chris Williams But some people like me can't get a switch
Ommo it would cost the same as the switch though since it’s getting upgraded graphics
The switch is basically already a superpowered 3ds lol
0:07 I noticed you used Elh in the intro, really well animated and it really makes me want to have Elh in luigi's mansion.
4:10 that is not a small number. That is a *BIG* number!
Computer over? Virus equals very yes?! That's not a good prize!

You've never been to Italian Cuisine, North Albatross? It's a great place!
"a freaking [spoilers]"
WHAT WAS HE TALKING ABOUT
[SPOILER]
Basically a Dark Souls boss
YES TY MERRY CHRISTMAS PRESENT
Merry Christmas Coastah!!!!!
12:29 already agree with you, probably my favourite track in the game.
It's been a month, but this video's worth it!
Even though I have beaten Mario Odyssey, I don’t know what is that freaking ________
@David Jackson giant bowser
Now this is a quality early Christmas present! Keep up the good work, Andrew!
The switch is like a fusion of the Wii, Wii U and DS. Wii and Wii u because motion controls, and DS because it's portable and can be taken anywhere.
Don’t forget, It’s also fused with GameCube and Super Nintendo too. GameCube because the buttons, the controller, and the startup has GameCube similarities, and Super Nintendo because the side ways controllers looks exactly like the snes controller since it has shoulder buttons and 4 buttons
WHOO it's out!!
me and my little brother have been so excited!
10:07 I would have loved a todays best sections
Sebastian B what
3:15 boi
11:22 - that tune is from a Zelda game. And the percussion is very Star Fox-ish.
It's been a while I've seen a Beta64 video, awesome to see a new one!
I'm surprised he didn't mention that Power Moons in the final game were originally called Moon Fragments during the E3 demo in 2017.
Long time no see, good to have you back!
First it was star, then sun, and the moon... What will be next? Asteroids? Comets?
Black Holes?
Great job as always, Beta64 :) liked the video a lot!
8:20
His hand position changes slightly. in the beta he makes a V shape with his hand after he throws it. and in the final it looks like they’re not lined up and has more of an arch
GRAND MOON?
GRAND DAD!?!
epic
FLEENTSTONES?!
Oh shit...
come on son that video is already over 3 years old
joel would vomit if he saw this
9:30 bro didnt even talk about the obviously changing background over there
Yet another amazing video Beta64 and I love the Cliffs of Dover reference at the end lol
Ahhh.... Yes. This game brings back so much of the n64 and Galaxy nostalgia I needed. Very heartwarming.
1:53 I see what you did there
10:35 am I the only 1 who's ever seen the dinosaurs asleep in the final game? Great video!!! This was awesome!
Staff RolL to early version.
*me* "ok, this is nice"
*me* when hearing the final version then lisstening to the early version* "I NEED TO TURN MY BASS UP! HELP!"
Super mario odyssey is basically crash of the titans because of the main gameplay mechanic and basically every 3d mario game that allows you to explore and be in open world environments
1:53 it’s that a jump superstar reference
The card-based fighting game? No.
9:00 i like how you described that cause of the (Now patched) Hint bird glitch
Never clicked so fast on a vid
never clicked on a un original comment so fast
The production quality of your videos and format are fantastic. Please keep it up! (Also, Cliffs of Dover is legendary)
The early version of the music sounds like a Pokemon game soundtrack. Lol
The early high score sign is super similar to that green sign that gives you clues in mario galaxy 2
Drop a train on ‘em Edgar!
Well do something about it before it gets worse!!!
That's not a very good prize!
8:52 Ahhhh re-using assets from Super Mario Galaxy 2, cool!
0:31 “Shake a stick at”
That line sounds familiar...
Insane how now we're on a longer hiatus than we were with Smg2 to Odyssey. Surprisingly, we don't really seem to care as much as we did before
Dammit I don't know what's behind the spoiler blocker AND I NEED TO KNOW!

Well, I wasn’t waiting for this 🤩
The graphics for this game are absolutely amazing in the final I gotta say.
I’ve been waiting for this, I haven’t watched it yet but I know I’m going to enjoy this
Edit: I’ve watched it and now I feel like this was an early xmas present AND THX FOR THE HEART
Been watching this channel for 4 YEARS, and FINALLY saw you in person
thank you dude, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for playing Cliffs of Dover at the end there. One of my favorite songs in GHIII!
I love Mario Odyssey so much
i instantly subbed the moment my friend said "this beta64 guy tells his subs about early content"
what did this even mean
Beta64 - Sonic Forces
2:01 The ending (of the game) surprised me...
You could talk about a garbage can and I’d love it. Great vids, have a sub :)
Also, I agree, Jump Up Superstar is just brilliant.
aRe YoU caLLinG OdySsEy a TraSh cAn? (Jk, these videos are awesome)
Rexogamer what?
12:21 contains a false statement. Wooded Kingdom is the best song in the game.
that’s me at 9:08 :)
Katzen König since it is cheating, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is there somewhere
Katzen König no it said “hey there” in there
oh cool, how long did it take you?
16 hours
I saw FEZ PEZ
1:53 That is so clever i couldnt stop rewinding to make sure i heard that.
Yeah you're the best man. We always look forward to your great content bro
