    Great advice here. One of the things I like most about these tutorials is that they focus on traditional drawing style. It’s hard to find stuff on RUclips that isn’t manga/fantasy style! Thank you!

    After 6 months of regular drawing practice, I discovered toned paper. Artists such as Turner used toned paper sketchbooks. It's great to be able to show highlights and dark tones on paper using a soft graphite and white pastel pencil. Clay-toned paper is warmer than the grey but both work really well.

    this is actually pretty useful to a lot of people. I'm sort of on the intermediate level on my skills and i kinda knew the 1st one already, but the other 2 are some interesting mindsets i can apply to my drawing. tnx!

    If I block it the shadow like that can I get smooth blending then, maybe for skin

    great advice and short, sweet, and to the point. I haven't seen any sketch books that have grey or mid tone colors. Most are cream colored. Is that close enough? Usually sketch in a Mole Skin pad.
