- Classical Music's great PT. Shivkumar Sharma left for his heavenly abode on 10 May 2022 from a cardiac arrest.
He was 84 years old when he passed away.
He was born on 13 January 1938, Sharma started learning santoor at the age of thirteen and gave his first public performance in Mumbai in 1955. He collaborated with Indian Tabla player Zakir Hussain and with flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia on many of his performances as well as on his albums.

I was luck to have seen Maestro Sharma in a live performance with Zakhir Hussain about 8 yrs ago. The light in this world just got a little duller, and the heavenly planets became that much more beautiful. Rest in sweet peace. Pandit ji.

Oh! My heart hurts. I have been listening to him with Hariprasad on flute EVERY Morning at 6am to start my day with his magical meditative music since January !!! I have been thanking him for his wonderful influence on Hari's flute accompaniment and they both have blessed my days since the beginning of 2022. Shivkumar, I hope your last hour was filled with Love.....
