- i am starting a brand new chapter of my life in new york city and i am taking you along with me. but first, i reflect on the time in my studio apartment, how i got here and what i learned. i am thankful for all of you and all the moments that have gotten me to where i am today.

I cried through this whole video because I feel so proud of you. I never lived alone until my youngest graduated from high school 7 years ago. I was 55! I'd been divorced for years but I had kids at home for 36 years - big age gap with my kids! It's been the happiest 7 years of my life. It truly is the best thing anyone can do for themselves. My youngest lived alone until May of this year. He grew so much as a person and now he's a husband and I'm certain a better mate because he got married for all the right reasons. And yes, I'm a 62 year old huge fan of yours from Houston!You don't even know how you inspire people from all walks of life. I have loved all the extra videos you've been uploading. My youngest son is a full time content creator too, so I truly appreciate how hard that is. Can't wait for your moving content!!
Being inspired here too! at 42 years old.
And me at 38! Last month was the first time since around 2007 I spent a night alone at home and I was a little embarrassed I was nervous!

I found you during your hunt for this apartment and I'm so excited to see where life takes you next. from one internet stranger, just gotta say: i'm proud of you, friend.
I too started a chapter in my first apartment alone in Washington Heights, on 181 street and Cabrini. 1986. I was in graduate school at Columbia Health Sciences. Tiny place...neighborhood was pretty scary back then. I think it was where I found myself. I'm 63 now. Living alone in a small 75 year old house in NJ. Married, divorced, several career changes. My family are all gone. I'm blessed with dear friends. You never know where your life will go.
This video is so incredibly well done. I’m so proud of how far you’ve come. I found your channel through the moving series to get this apartment and I feel like I’ve lived through everything you mentioned alongside you. I don’t know you on a personal level, but through each new experience you had in this apartment I felt some happy, sad or anxious emotions right alongside you as you shared your experience through video. I felt sad for you when you first mentioned your breakup, I felt anxious for you when you shared your experience with bedbugs, I felt happy for you when you shared your new dance show. I’m excited to see what’s next for you, Alexis! I know you’ll do great!!

As the 30s version of this, I truly truly enjoyed seeing your reflections and it made me see how we can all be cycling through these life lessons around the same time. The breakups, the layoffs, the apartment that we didn't really want but grew to be our best teacher and of course the pets and friends that loved us throughout. Thank you for sharing Alexis. Proud of you.
Your ex was such a see-you-next-Tuesday for stringing you along, but honestly, I think him and the Universe gave you a gift. You now know you can survive and thrive with just you, and that’s awesome knowledge to have. And when you’re old and gray, you’re going to look back at those two years when you were a bad ass navigating the Big Apple alone as some of the best in your life, I promise you. Living alone and doing everything by yourself is so essential for personal growth, its truly life changing
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on any of your vlogs. This one is different. This one shows growth, loss, heartbreak and happiness. A new beginning. It showed you to be the independent person you were always meant to be. It was always inside of you. You just needed to find it and you did. Being alone is different from being lonely. You experienced both. I prefer the being alone but knowing that your support was always there. It just wasn’t with the person you thought it was supposed to be with. Congratulations and good luck on this next chapter of your journey. I’ve lived alone for several years. I outgrew the loneliness and embraced the being alone. I’m living my best life and hope to grow more in my personal journey. You have and will continue to do so.❤
I'm about to move out of my apartment with my significant other and go out on my own, 13 hours away from my entire life. This video couldn't have came at a better time. Thank you for unintentionally helping me. I know that I'm making the right decision for me, and it's my time to find a sense of independence and love for myself.

You've put into word the EXACT way I felt about my first apartment on my own (also a very small studio that I started in a relationship in and ended single). It saw me through one of the biggest transitions in my life and taught me who I was when no one else is around. The beautiful cathartic ugly crying it makes me feel!

I cried most of this video. I relate to this so much. In May I packed up all my belongings and my dog into my suv and moved from Florida to New Jersey. It’s the first time in my life I’ve been forced to be independent fully. It is so overwhelming but so empowering. Hearing you speak about your journey this year, feels like you took pages from my diary. So glad I’ve gotten to watch your page and story develop over the last year!!
