I recently bought a LTD JM-2 and I like it even more than my last ESP Horizon NT-2 Standart. The JM-2 has a very comfortable neck and amazing ergonomics, and the sound is no worse than the Japanese standard of the 2000s series. Thanks for this great signature guitar! I am very glad to have it in my collection.
Probably the best looking out of all your guitars in my opinion. Would love to see a video on the brown Horizon used on the rhythms on Cycle of Suffering next 👍🏼
So I have a purple ESP LTD EC-1000 that I had an aftermarket evertune installed onto and I have noticed the same thing you’re talking about. After the install there’s not as much sustain and it’s a little more woofy now. My biggest gripe against it though is that the springs in the back resonate on stop and go’s when they’re technically not supposed to so I don’t know what happened there. For me too, the guitar was just more fun to play before the swap so I’ll write it off as a lesson learned and go back to Floyd’s and hard tail / TOM
I'm still happy with my ESP NT-II STB with retro-fitted Fishman Fluence Moderns after watching Josh's video about those pickups. It's a metal monster and absolutely gorgeous. Very similar to the guitar in this video other than the bridge. Sadly I only have about 1% of his talent 🤣
I love everything about the JM-II and badly wanted to buy this guitar but the only thing stopping me is the finish... Do you have any plans to do another guitar with an alternative finish?
It's a sick axe... I am a big fan of the evertune, the new multiscale ones that Aristides is doing are rad... Stable. But there's definitely a drawback in tone. A little bit of sympathetic resonance is there when your playing hard enough.
Bummer you never got on with the Evertune. I'm purely a rhythm player, so my needs are different, but I became a full convert once I played my first Evertune.
Some people say it doesn’t affect the tone. But the ones who do, they say is brighter. I must have watched every Evertune review since it came out. It is the first time I hear someone saying it makes it sound bassy. I hope this serves as a testament that opinions on gear are so varied and subjective, just try it and see!
In my experience with people discussing tone/gear on the internet, a lot of people get a lot of things wrong. I don’t trust a lot of guitarists ears. People like Nolly or anyone that is also a producer and has really trained their ears for mixing as well as being a player are usually the most reliable. As you said though, the best thing is to try it out and see for yourself 👍🏻
I don't believe most of the tone shit guitarists say, but I have an Evertune-equipped Eclipse and I concur that it's bassier. Even acoustically there's a noticeable low end resonance coming from the bridge. That said, I actually like it lol
Josh.. Have you thought of merging the old Sylosis "Marshall" sound with the newer 5150/6505 sound? The EVH EL34 100S is perfect for that. Also, what string gauges are you using now that you're in C#, and have you thought of trying Duncan Blackouts? I swear they're better than Fishman!
I am so glad you said what you said about the evertune; I had exactly the same critiques about the one I had. For how I play, it lacked large amounts of sustain compared to my other guitars and tonally I was never 100% happy.
That must suck orderung a CS guitar and then the bridge kills the sound. I heard this from other people as well in regards to the Evertune. She does look stunning though!
despite never tune again your guitar, Josh Described much a - z why i hate EVERTUNE so much especially very short sustain on high E string due their system.
@@JD-vj4go I see ! We are all different :D I love the no cut on my Mayones or Esp Horizon ! But on my Esp M2, as I said, that cut makes me sweat ahah And I'm not a sweaty, that's weird:p
@@clem_chret I get what you mean playing live, I play both my Horizon and MII and since the contact surface is bigger on the MII you spill the sweat all around it. I do prefer the contour, it's more comfy but I can live with both, the same as the upper fret access is better on my Horizon than on my bolt on MII or my Alexi.
I play more classic rock and metal so actually prefer guitars with fixed bridges, but with modern metal being heavily downtuned or having 7 or 8 strings nowadays I can see this bridge being quite a must have for that bassy sound 👍🙂 Brilliant video
@@the_hippykiller22 Yes, I know. But I own one of the later Standard Series Horizons and I can tell you, they tend more to the Custom-Shop models then to the EII's, qualitywise. I think, this is why the droped the SS, so the can price this now as costum-shop, while EII is somewhere between former SS and Ltd. with raised pricing. If I'd known that, I'd have bought two of them by the time. But overall: ESP forever!!! 😁 🤟
@@procrasti-nation9517 I own an Horizon and a 4 knob Eclipse SS myself, looking at my bandmate's EIIs I'm not sure if that's true. I literally have his EII Eclipse beside my 4 knob at home right now and they're incredibly close. My Edwards Alexi has a few tiny cosmetic blemishes but the neck profile, fretwork and feel are the same as my Horizon (and I've owned 2 made the same week). Have you owned an Original Series or Custom Shop? That's the next step for me, almost bought a Kiso bolt on KH-2 but it wasn't quite the price I was ready to put in, it seems like it's the only attainable used CS ESP for lefties. I'm quite curious to see if there's a real difference considering how good the SS can be. Also I have another Edwards Alexi and an EII Eclipse on order (the perks of being endorsed and spending just as much money as before since you just get more guitars lol) so the comparison will be interesting
@@the_hippykiller22 i never argued against the EII's 😉I just don't see why the droped the standard-series other than for some price-policy reasons. My SS was about 2300€, regular stock pricing back in the days, which I think was some kind of a steal for a guitar of this quality. I own a KH-2 and a KH-3. But I they are not Custom Shop. As far as I know the Term "ESP Custom Shop" refers to the Instruments that where specifically handcrafted in the ESP-Store in NY. Btw the KH-2 is a real workhorse!!! Can't go wrong with it, though the appearance is a little bit vintage compared to all the fancy metal-stuff nowadays 😉
@@procrasti-nation9517 They did that to just make the ESP brand a CS one among other things so yeah, as far as Custom Shop they're made in Japan, they used to be made either in Terada Kiso or Sado and you could recognize them by the serial number (a Kiso made says K-******) and now I think they've solidified it to only one place. The NY place is long gone since the 90's
Finally some mainstream Evertune slander. These things suck and don't hold a tuning any better than a properly set up, floating floyd. Biggest load of snake oil in the whole industry.

Thank you! Glad you love it
The Horizon has to be my favorite ESP ever made, and that one is gorgeous.
Nice. I have a JM-II coming in a few days, can’t wait to play it.
Hell yes. Hope you love it
I have the JM-II for about 2 years now and can't put it down, absolutely love it. Hard to put it on words how amazing it is.
Stunning looking CS ESP!
Show guitar Josh.. CONGRATULATIONS 👍😁🇧🇷
She's a beauty. I got my first custom M II back in 08. Best guitar I ever owned/played.

For the palm muting problem, try changing the fluence pickups for some emg's.
Fluence pickups sound a lot bassy even if they're active
Don't understandt why Fishmann, got emg 57/66 on my E2 Horizon and Love it !
4:48 The sustain died too early.
Is it because of the Evertune?

So how much does a guitar like this cost? I'm really interested in getting one.
Come to NZ please!
Josh, curious what noise gate pedal you use, and what DB setting you set it on to get rid of all that extra “fizz” in the background? Thanks.
I love everything about the JM-II and badly wanted to buy this guitar but the only thing stopping me is the finish... Do you have any plans to do another guitar with an alternative finish?
Do you have any E-II to show us? what do you think about them?
ESP custom Horizon or M is my ultimate dream.
U still have the number one plugin in my opinion, duel rec 🥰….i may have to check out this axe now
Did you take any inspiration from that guitar for your signature one?

All hail Evertune 🤘🏽
My longest sustaining guitar has an Evertune bridge (Legator X-7). Something else must be going on with that guitar.
cant the evertune be setup in different ways?

Not a fan of that EL34 sound. Just isnt for me. Never got on with the blackouts, nowhere near as tight or defined
What kind of action are you using? Older I get the more height I like.
Beautiful axe, if only the LTD MH1000ET had that exact finish!
Please make and ltd sig model based on this! Love the 2 fish man humbuckers
For sale josh ?
Did he explain why he doesn’t like his signature model?
Are you a fan of V shaped guitars Josh?
Is it a baritone? or normal scale length?
Normal 25.5

No forearm contour would be a bad point for me. Really nice guitar, prefer M-II flat top for comfort. Horizon does look better though.
I've found alder body and a guitar that doesn't resonate like an acoustic is best for deathmetal
U interested in selling?

Its beautiful but the lack of a forearm contour looks uncomfortable. I love the way these archtops look though.
I love when there is not forearm contour ! When there is one, it makes my forearm sweat a lot. I enjoy less contact with the guitar !
@@clem_chret I could see that. Sharp edges just make my arm go numb sometimes. It's why I never play my Warlock.
