yea wtf, I feel like a sissy right now. but seriously how the fuck do you get it off lol fuuuck oh wait let me make sure ALLL the air is out of the tube first..
You have to use your forearms, hand, & finger muscles that’s all pretty much, have to be really good with your hands also his bike tires are much larger anyways so there’s that too.
Thanks. I am 15 km from home and just wrecked 2 tubes trying to fix a flat with tire levers. On my last tube so googled how to change a 29er tire. You are a life saver.
Quick tip for removing the first bead: The lever switch on the nozzle of many floor pumps can be used as a free tire lever. I've been using my bontrager pump as a lever to help for years.
thank you! was struggling, with tools even to get the tire off, thought i know how, had done it decades ago... but after this 4 min vid got it done in 5 min! should have started with the video
Thanks for the detailed video, today is my first time replacing my tube. Was strolling but when I deflated the tire more, it was easier to tuck the tire in.
This video filled me a rare frustration I cannot even describe. Been sat here trying to get this wheel on for the better part of 2 hours, snapped three tyre levers
Thank you very much, I tried it in my wired maxxis tire and it works just fine. You just have to put a little force to remove it from the rims. Now I dont have to buy a tire lever LOL, just be resourceful 😁😁
Just a little advice, when running your finger along the bead of the tire be cautious about any exposed wire from the bead or similarly on dry rotted tires the old rubber on the bead can be extremely sharp! It's no fun doing flat repairs for customers at the bike shop with a gash in your finger!
Thank you. I could not remove my fat tyre from its rim to change a tube (yes, I know about tubeless, and no tubeless wont work in my circumstances). I went looking for help and found this video. I only needed to break the bead on one side. So I went around the tyre pressing down hard on the tyre wall. Around 3/4 of the way the tyre popped off the bead. Easy when you know how! 👍
I always carry my multi tool (Topeak Hexus II) which has two nice tire levers, and all the tools I need for a trailside repair. However, it is a good instructive video...just in case you forgot to get your tire levers with you!
You should always finish at the valve so the bottom of the bead can sit into the center of the rim's channel. Installing a tire like in the video is harder because the bread hits the valve and makes it tighter to install.
Yep. When you start seating from the valve it does not allow tire to "rest" inside center of the rim, so makes it impossible to fit some tires with the levers too.
Either I suck or I always have the wrong rim/tyre combo. Always easier with levers and even then I'm often guessing if the tool is going to break or the rim.
I've never had issues until today, when I wanted to put a new set of tires on. Never had too much issue before until today the dang tire seemed to SEAL itself...I use inner tubes. I never put anything in to seal the tires to the rim. Yet they were dang near glued to the rim??? I had to ram a screwdriver in and around for over an hour until haphazardly it finally came loose ..with quite a few little pieces of metal all around haha. Man sometimes this stuff is infuriating..its always the things that should be easy. I had less trouble cutting and fitting a new fork.
i have a continental der baron wire bead...super tight but if you have the skill, one beefy tire lever does the job...2 for making it relatively easy...you just need the skill and knoledge
Is there a type of tire that is the outer part that turns into the tube on the inside? That seems to be mine and I'd like to see a video of someone removing that type of tire!
When i ride i always make sure my rims are full of air especially the ones on my bike, better to always have pumped rims than to be sorry, never know, you might even puncture your rim cos of "the good ole' too many spokes on wheel" mistake...
i dont know about you guys, but i always change my tyre without tools, its a bit hard at first but once you get used to it it is even faster then with them
And what to do when you don´t have a "matching" tyre and rim combo? Mavic Rims plus Maxxis tyres are always have 20 cm of overextention at the end and I can´t get it if my life depends on it. Tried it with pushing also the other side in, loose tube, pumped tube, putting soap on it, using 3 tyre levers and two people, nothing works...
I thought I found the video I was looking for right now! I need to change my tyre quick and I don't have a wrench. So.... the video starts with a loose wheel. :-'(
If your tires have a steel wire bead reinforcement, they will always be hard to remove and reinstall... The ones with flexible (plastic, kevlar, etc.) bead reinforcement are usually way easier... Getting the bead to the center of the rim (where rim diameter is smaller) as Neil explains, and starting at the side opposite to the valve will ease the job. Hope you don't get a flat anyways!
Some rims are tubeless ready without any rim tape. Crankbrothers rims are an example. Other rims may require rim tape to seal the heads of the spoke nipples to form an air-tight seal. Often when you purchase a rim a good idea to minimize the chance of you burping your tire whilst riding is to purchase a tubeless compatible/ready rim. Hope this helps!
While some wheel/tire combos will make a better bead lock/seal and thus minimize the probability of burping, almost all rims can be converted to tubeless. In most cases the difference between a tubeless-ready and non-tubeless-ready rim is that the spoke holes at the inner surface of the rim comes factory sealed with a special tape. Just need to remove the non-tubeless rim tape, seal rim with two layers of tubeless specific tape or Gorilla tape, install tubeless valves, add tubeless sealant and inflate. Ask at your LBS, they should give you a good advise. Good Luck!
Please help My tire is flat and I think it’s got a puncture but I don’t know if it’s tubeless (trek roscoe 7) as it’s brand new but when I try and push all the air out it comes out the valve stem then when I release to try and get beed off it sucks air back in WTF someone plz help
I've been watching these videos for the past two hours and in every single one it looks like you just remove the Tyre using magic it just slides off with zero effort. I've spent hours fighting with this thing and I cannot remove the tyre without bending and breaking the steel wheel.
When I was in a race and I was losing I said to my self if your not first your last then I got second place!!! later I realised they're was 3 people [sigh]
Is there a certain reason why the direction of rotation should match? Does it benefit the grip or the wear? By the way: I was out on a proper mountain bike track with some friends and had a first ride on berms. Thanks to your videos i had an idea of what to do! Oh boy, they are fun!
Made it look so easy... I've been here struggling for 30min sweating my ass off
yea wtf, I feel like a sissy right now. but seriously how the fuck do you get it off lol fuuuck
oh wait let me make sure ALLL the air is out of the tube first..
Yeah like what the hell
You have to use your forearms, hand, & finger muscles that’s all pretty much, have to be really good with your hands also his bike tires are much larger anyways so there’s that too.
Its best to pull the tire back, then pull it up and then over the wheel. works every time. Practice it and it becomes second nature!
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks. I am 15 km from home and just wrecked 2 tubes trying to fix a flat with tire levers. On my last tube so googled how to change a 29er tire. You are a life saver.
i’ve come to the conclusion that any person who tries this can do it except for me, nothing ever works for me
same here lol
Same
Same here from the future, hope ur having a good life now, if ur dead RIP.
Same here.
Everyone fails, you just push through failure until it becomes a success
Quick tip for removing the first bead: The lever switch on the nozzle of many floor pumps can be used as a free tire lever. I've been using my bontrager pump as a lever to help for years.
Just saved me a 3rd trip to Walmart
thank you! was struggling, with tools even to get the tire off, thought i know how, had done it decades ago... but after this 4 min vid got it done in 5 min! should have started with the video
I can't get a new tire back on the rim.... This video made it look way more easy than in actually is
Did you have any luck?
Thanks for the detailed video, today is my first time replacing my tube. Was strolling but when I deflated the tire more, it was easier to tuck the tire in.
bloody hell, there's me struggling with tyre levers to get the tyre back on, after watching this I did it without!! thank you 👍😊
This video filled me a rare frustration I cannot even describe. Been sat here trying to get this wheel on for the better part of 2 hours, snapped three tyre levers
yesterday i had a flat tire and needed to change the tube, so i used the handle of the quick release as a tire leaver, worked very well
yea that worked for me as well, thanks.
this comment right here made what felt like an impossible task quite possible.. kudos to you sir for this brilliant bit of ingenuity!
Why avoid tyre levers? May not have tyre levers.
*Genius*
Thanks gmbn this helped me out very much !
Thank you very much, I tried it in my wired maxxis tire and it works just fine. You just have to put a little force to remove it from the rims. Now I dont have to buy a tire lever LOL, just be resourceful 😁😁

Didn’t help me I struggled and put all my weight on the tyre and it was just on the rim and wouldn’t come off
Thanks cobba we managed to do it! Life will never be the same
I followed your steps and it really worked thank you
I always carry my multi tool (Topeak Hexus II) which has two nice tire levers, and all the tools I need for a trailside repair. However, it is a good instructive video...just in case you forgot to get your tire levers with you!
Thank you so much ,before I watched your video I couldn't change and I wanted to cry , but you teach me how can do it. Thanks lot , Got bless you 🙏🙏🙏
Direction of rotation. Oh my.
You should always finish at the valve so the bottom of the bead can sit into the center of the rim's channel. Installing a tire like in the video is harder because the bread hits the valve and makes it tighter to install.
is that true
Yep. When you start seating from the valve it does not allow tire to "rest" inside center of the rim, so makes it impossible to fit some tires with the levers too.
Yup, when installing tires end at the valve, when removing tires start at the valve.
Makes sense when using a tube, but not important for tubeless, right?
Tubes or tubeless as it is the tire's bead fitting in the rim's center channel that we're talking about. .
Also... spraying soapy water (dishwasing liquid) to the bead of the tire when putting back on helps a hell of a lot
Very helpful. Thanks.
Is my hands supposed to bleed after I remove the tire?
you forgot the sealant neil
haha
I don't believe it matters - a front wheel without a disk mount is symmetrical - it can be used either side.
Yep didn't work
in the end i did. use a lever but it would be similarly easy to do without, just takes a bit longer
Yooo you give good advice and instruction
Thanks! This saved me alot of frustration!
thanks for the video it worked and I didn't pop my inner tube
thats gonna help with my michelin wild grip'r, thanks
thank you
I love your channel, great videos!
yeah , now try it on WTB 40 mm rims . even with tire levers its a pain in the ass to remove a tire from these rims .
Ill be honest, Im guilty for giving up and getting a flathead...
wow ur the best man TY!!!
I was in a race and I was not doing very well. But then I ate 60-80 carbohydrates, and then I won.
Tibor not relevant
Either I suck or I always have the wrong rim/tyre combo. Always easier with levers and even then I'm often guessing if the tool is going to break or the rim.
maybe tight tires?
Neil, great vid but when installing finish at valve side - this will allow bead to sit fully in channel ;-)
thank you saved me 15 pln or around 3 or 5 usd

so uselful
i have a continental der baron wire bead...super tight but if you have the skill, one beefy tire lever does the job...2 for making it relatively easy...you just need the skill and knoledge
I have no idea what ir talking about
+Riley Plummer can you shut up?
+Steven Smith yay
nice tires
Is there a type of tire that is the outer part that turns into the tube on the inside? That seems to be mine and I'd like to see a video of someone removing that type of tire!
When i ride i always make sure my rims are full of air especially the ones on my bike, better to always have pumped rims than to be sorry, never know, you might even puncture your rim cos of "the good ole' too many spokes on wheel" mistake...
Is it the same with tubed tires
i dont know about you guys, but i always change my tyre without tools, its a bit hard at first but once you get used to it it is even faster then with them
I agree plus you dont have to carry tools
Thank you so much that helped a lot
Try Schwalbe Smart Sam 😉
Gmbn do another bloopers!!!
Aply soap water around the rim and tyre edges, does it much easier
FUCK ME, I JUST REALIZED I'VE BOUGHT THE WRONG TIRE
Thaaaaankkk youuuuuuu...
You Should do how to whip
Do it with a 26" clincher tyre please.
I spent an hour trying to put my tire on and I watched this one e and boom it’s on
What tool brings replacement tubeless juice and a pump but not a couple of tire levers?
i found it hard on different brand of tyre, some brand bead are easy to change others are hard... And depending on rims profile to
And what to do when you don´t have a "matching" tyre and rim combo? Mavic Rims plus Maxxis tyres are always have 20 cm of overextention at the end and I can´t get it if my life depends on it. Do you push the bead to the rim at both sides of the tyre
Very helpful indeed. Thank you.
Great video, however, there is a difference between wired tires and foldable tires. Also, mountain bike and fat tires and more difficult to work with.
there is a tendency for the cordage to be deformed when forced even with the use of plastic levers. i've deformed a maxxis hrii this way.
We’re all in good hands now.
I thought I found the video I was looking for right now! I need to change my tyre quick and I don't have a wrench. So.... the video starts with a loose wheel. :-'(
How to identify the direction of the front wheel on V-brake only rim? There is no attachment for disc to identify the "left" side
The quick release lever is usually mounted on the left of the bike.
I mean how to identify left/right just looking at the spokes, let's say you have thr axle removed for hub service
Yes sir or mama, should I replace 1 rim of my mountain bike because of cosmetic rust not going all the way around the rim or into the rim?
I push the tire to middle to get it on, but then the tire is not falling nicely in place along the bead. What am I doing wrong?
How hard to pump the tires if its tubeless? (Without co2)
I have notube's ztr flow ex and maxxis highroller 2, even with levers it's hard as fuck, I pray on every ride for not getting a flat :D
If your tires have a steel wire bead reinforcement, they will always be hard to remove and reinstall... The ones with flexible (plastic, kevlar, etc.) bead reinforcement are usually way easier... Neil where did you get those trousers from... my mum Is always moaning at me I don't have enough trousers
Do you need a specific type of rim to go tubeless ?
Yip
+Jeandré Voges arf

Yea I hate changing tubeless ready tires with tubeless wheels and putting a tube in them. Pain in the ass!🤦♂️
But how do you undo the axle bolt without tool? Not QR...
Great video but didn't you sag that it's the video about the pro mechanics tips?😬👌🏿
ewwwwww
Any ideas how to smooth the inside of a tyre? The tyre is good on the outside but the inside keeps puncturing 🤔
Why would you line up the valve with the logo on your tire? Is it just for aesthetic reasons?
Yes...its a classic pro look
+Mike Williams Thanks👍
plus it's easier to locate the valve.
SO you're bike can be gnar so when you biff bonk and bail it will look cool or if you lock up your bike to go brocery shopping
+Mike Williams you heard him loud and clea
Try that with a Magic Mary wire bead...
I've been watching these videos for the past two hours and in every single one it looks like you just remove the Tyre using magic it just slides off with zero effort. I've spent hours fighting with this thing and I cannot remove the tyre without bending and breaking the steel wheel.
Do it with a 23mm non folding tyre
why
+Riley Plummer man you answer every fucking comment under this video - WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM
When I was in a race and I was losing I said to my self if your not first your last then I got second place!!! later I realised they're was 3 people [sigh]
+Reme Zaporozan comon really grammer police
+Riley Plummer *grammar lol.
*come on
+Evan Jarvis okay really so many *grammar police here gee!
+John stop correcting me grammar nazi
Try it with a tube it's a lot harder
I couldn’t do it !
You just force it to remove?
My g
its super important to put the vale inline with the logo (but I will not tell you why) so no
one is going to do it lol
3:07
That’s why we are here.
Which bike has a carbon fork?
How do I put on the tube on my bike I can’t take the tire off my bike
use a wrench to unscrew the nuts?
@@RiveryJerald NO TOOLS 😭😭😭
Is there a certain reason why the direction of rotation should match? Does it benefit the grip or the wear?
By the way: I was out on a proper mountain bike track with some friends and had a first ride on berms. Thanks to your videos i had an idea of what to do! Oh boy, they are fun!
Both, most MTB tires are directional with a steep braking surface on one side of the knobs and a ramped, fast rolling surface on the other
my tire seems stuck on the rim does not come lose what can i do?
DZenitram23 it’s been over a year, have you figured it out yet
you never shoewed putting in the tube all of a sudden you were pushing in the one side and the tube was there lol
I still cant do it i cant find the bead i cant get the tyre off n i feel useless
"make sure all the air is out of the tire" me with a literal flat 😭
e-thirteen tyre.... didnt know it even existed :D is that good ?
Idk
Conti Baron and Hopetech DH Rim worst Combo. broke 3 tire levers, that tyre isn't going anywhere
putting a tyre with no tube looks like putting pants without underpants
Except it's like pants with a better underwear integrated
