Death battles comparing is like: Yamcha was able to withstand Goku and Goku can withstand Beerus so Yamcha can withstand Beerus Leaving out the fact that Goku was a kid
Pretty much. I really gave on Deeath Battle back when they determined Goku's speed based on him running Snake Way back in first Goku vs Superman. Doesn't matter that was super in the beginning of Z and he got way faster even without any transformations.
The thing that ticks me off is when DB says "person a beat person b in a fight (not a race) and person b is exactly this fast so we can say person a is also this fast" Yeah no, if I smack Usain Bolt in the face with a sledgehammer that does not mean I can outrun him, it means I'm the jackass that can sneak up on someone with a sledgehammer.
@that idle shantae individual then you're talking about combat speed and in most fictional stories a character combat speed is relative to their travel speed
Like how in comics through comic bs Batman can like.. snare Flash in a net, doesn't mean Batman is as fast as Flash, just that he predicted where he would be and set a trap
@ShiningMoon for me it's Ben 10 vs green lantern. As Kevin says celestial sapians could blink and they'd be gone. Plus if alien x can reverse time stopping green from killing/ cutting off the watch early if possible. Plus the omnitrix will give Ben an alien to save him when needed like with the big bang.
@ShiningMoon By their analysis Dio is basically gonna stomp, and if Alucard tries to use his blood sea or zombies or whatever he's just making Dio more powerful. I haven't watched Hellsing though so this might be another death battle where they say things that are just not true like Android 18 vs Captain Marvel, that death battle is embarrassing, I think most millennials have watched Dragonball enough to remember the only androids that can suck energy are 19 and 20.
@ShiningMoon Yeah I haven't watched Hellsing so I'm gonna stick to what the death battle showed. Dio gets stronger through the absorption of blood, what are you talking about?
And apparently eating the equivalent of a live wire wouldn’t electrocute the hell out her and would only give her slight indigestion. I never watched MLP but does Rainbow Dash is so stupid that she’ll eat something like that or did they really just wanted to have a death and not just rule him out as harmless or cannot effect organically thus he loses.
@@Predator20357 the source where they got the sequence of Starscream's life spark was from a manga where he possessed a human girl. Thus RD should have just become a host body for him using the same law. Like she would even eat that to begin with.

Death Battle logic is always terrible - "A cockroach can survive a nuke, Mike Tyson can crush a cockroach with his fingers, that means Mike Tyson can tank a Nuke" No, DB, no he can't
Now that I think about you could technically scale him to little Mac witch you could technically scale to characters in smash but that is a biiiiiiiiig stretch
Death battle: jason's helmet can be broken by a 'similar' knife to the one bucky's arm blocked Meanwhile on the page they're showing: That's strange, normal knives can't break my helmet
@@TheSecondVersion it's amazing as well because they highball jason's venom by saying it gives him 10x strength based on bane even though it would be fairer and more consistent to claim he was micro dosing
Also it's weird to compare "defense" with a *helmet* and an *arm.* They're two completely different pieces of equipment. Red Hood can't block blades or bullets with his bare hands, and Winter Soldier would die if someone headshot him from behind. A helmet is passive defense; you don't have to actively control it or notice a threat for it to protect you. Meanwhile Bucky actually has to *move* his arm to use it as a shield, and if he's disoriented (by say, a flashbang), it becomes much less effective.
they say they bring both fighters at their max but during tracer vs scout they put tracer from the cinematics+the one from the games+comics tracer vs a nerfed scout from the game that uses weapons from games that aren't tf2.
Death Battle should not be taken as the end all be all to who a character would win in a fight. The true answer is, as Stan Lee once said, who wins is whoever the writer wants to win
True but Death Battle is like a writer who says this character would win but they lose to a weaker character who realistically wouldn’t stand a chance.
That's what I decided a long time ago. The whole "Who would win in a fight between __________ and _______________?" is pointless because the winner is whatever drives the plot forward to the story.
What REALLY grinds my gears is that they gave link the win through the z-lock on function which is not a canonical ability but a fuckin game function. But yeah, cloud got cucked hard on his equipment. The fight was crap
@@jacobgraemoor5778 yknow, I don't actually know. Haven't watched. Stopped caring about DB after the myriad of injustices. It wouldn't matter. In a fair fight given all their equipment and at the top of their game, link doesn't stand a chance.
they do this a lot, ya know they do it for every single comic book character "well in 1 series this character benchpresses the entire universe, and in another unrelated series, they become batman, therefore...." Like, yeah, pitting EVERY FEAT FROM EVERY WORK against some Anime character who only has 1 source to his name, and thus only the feats within it, is going to end up looking bad and I honestly hate it
Death Battle transitive property: Mario can survive the black hole formed at the end of Super Mario Galaxy But he still dies when touching a Koopa The Koopa must be Galaxy Destroyer Level Man people really started Thanos beat boxing over my comment
Well not necessarily, cuz technically a Koopa has never killed Mario, that can only happen during gameplay if you suck at platformers, meanwhile the whole black hole thing was a cutscene, though to be fair I'm pretty sure it can be presumed that Mario only survived because of Rosalina and her f****** god powers
I mean, on some level, we have to take game logic out of this. We can say the exact same thing about Sonic too. He can get slammed around by giant robots and still keep fighting, even without rings outside of the game logic. But if a Motobug touches him, he flipping dies due to game logic. But that doesn't make sense looking at what he's been able to do. So, again, we have to take that out of the equation because it's not a fair assessment.
Some comic writer 60 years ago: draws one panel where a random dog dodges a laser DB: as you can see here, this dog scales to FTL and that's why he killed spiderman
another thing that bugs me about DB: Battle A: this character was said to be able to do this, but it was never shown explicitly, so we didnt consider it as true. Battle B: even though it was never explicitly shown, it was said that this character can do this, so it must be true.
One thing that bugs me that I said on another comment. Death Battle: This character can do this. Death Battle after the character loses: They can't actually do this. Essentially when they bring up feats like Beast lifting a golden tree...but not really or Sigma scaling to Megaman who scales to Duo...but not really and there is more that I can't recall but they do this often where they make a character seem far stronger than they are, then go "Not really" when they lose. Either they have a shit script writer or they are trying to trick the audience into thinking a certain character has a chance when they don't.
What bothers me is how they do feat scaling, Gray Fullbuster vs. Esdeath they completely ignored that Gray regularly matches Natsu in physical strength and that in a weakened state Natsu can throw building-size creatures. So like, do we have any evidence whatsoever that she could take a single hit from him? Not really. If you want to say she still has her time control ability and could kill him, sure but ignoring Gray's rather impressive strength and durability makes make think that they had decided the winner before doing the research. My skepticism of this is only increased by Heie vs Sasuke in which they assert 'Heie must be capable of x because he scales to Yusuke', yeah okay dude.
"Lex Luthor could fight Larfleeze, therefore he is as powerful as a Green Lantern" That's like saying, Usain Bolt can run faster than Floyd Mayweather, therefore he can beat Connor McGregor in a fight.
In Death Battle style matchups that can be true, but there are matchups where one character would just objectively win every time. As an extreme example; Zeno from Dragon Ball Super can casually eradicate whole universes without even getting tired, and can do this for several in a row while still showing no fatigue. Pair him up against, say, Pikachu, and there's simply just no contest. There's never any indication anywhere given to suggest that Pikachu could compete with a multiverse buster. Similarly, there's no reason to believe Crash Bandicoot could win against Superman, or etc.
That quote is idiotic to the extreme. There's nothing subjective about comparing a feat to another feat and contextualising it to see which is better. A character will either win or they will lose or you will contextualise why they won't always win, that isn't subjectivity. It's *Objectivity.*
@@Thurnmourer the quote is for mostly what you consider canon, example: would you give him ssj4 while also going blue and ui? If you use composite verisons of the characters then yes the quote doesn't work. But using specific characters has to do with what you think could logically due within it's canon.
That statement is not true in 2 occasions, Ryu vs Scorpion and Deathstroke vs Deadpool. Both are objectively wrong, not subjectively. Ryu destroyed Scorpion while under the effects of the Satsui no hadou which is well known for it's capabilities of destroying even souls, meaning, there is 0 chance of Scorpion returning from that, and yet he managed to asspull a return. Deathstroke is superior to Deadpool in everything but regeneration, but Deathstroke has already defeated even trully immortal beings before in comic books. the Death Battle asspulled a victory for Deadpool but that has 0 chance of happening because Deathstroke already knows what to do with seemingly immortal enemies, all Deathstroke needed to do was to cut Deadpool to pieces(which he actually did), seal those pieces apart, and toss them either in a pool of acid or in lava.
I also love that in the Cloud vs Link one, they mesh every form of Link together into one (in no game has he ever had all of the items they gave him, and each Link is a separate individual) while only giving Cloud initial equipment. "Oh yeah, of _course_ Link has every item from every game. Cloud? I dunno, give him the buster sword and the four weakest materia, idk."
Even though you're talking about the first Link vs Cloud, this comment still makes me happy because I was infuriated by the compositing of Link in the second Link vs Cloud for the exact same reason, no Link has had EVERY ITEM EVER and they are all their own people. They also ironically did to Link what they did to Cloud, ignoring things that could make Link win or at least stronger, they don't give him the full Triforce because its 'not standard' even though its been used by a Link 3 times but the cloak from Link to the Past that I am pretty sure only has one use? Fair game I guess. No, Link can't have the reality warping object that could potentially just wish Cloud away but he can have a cloak that turns him invisible.
As much as i love loz, cloud is just leagues ahead of any link. The only way link wins is if he has his reality bending equipment from one of the games. Cloud is far more stronger, faster, and durable than link.
@@nope9885 I think they should have used child link from Majora's mask with the fierce deity mask. Hyrule warriors shows the fierce deity cleaving the moon in two and while canonicity of that feat can be argued it would still make the fight closer.
Did they really show toph and gaara fighting in a desert when there was an episode in TLA where Toph couldn't see anything because she can't sense properly when the ground isn't solid?
tbf, they probly decide the winner, tell the animator who the winner is and what powers to show off, then move on with their day. many examples of this can be shown with abilites just not being used despite being talked about or abilities NOT talked about showing themselves. virgil vs sephiroth is one key example. they talk about how virgil has the power to cut dimensions and break mental links..... but he loses to a pocket dimension created by sephiroth.
She can sense it, she just can't make out shapes, or able to pinpoint objects specifically. Kind of like having a flawed depth-perception. You can see the thing, you're just not sure how far away it is or it's actual size. She later, in season 3 when they were in the fire nation having that beach party, showed that she had mastered intricate sand bending by creating a replica of ba sing sa in the sand with a single move. Then in Legend of Korra she had no trouble smacking the avatar around with mud.
Death Battle: "Character 1 was faster when travelling from point A to point B, therefore they have the speed advantage in a fight." That's like saying Usain Bolt can beat Mike Tyson in a fight because he can run faster.
Ehhh... there's a degree of speed where it probably matters and humans aren't at that. When you are flying around, your flight speed will matter in a fight. If you're moving at speeds faster than your opponent can react it makes a difference in a fight. Speed also = force. Just as a hypothetical example (with bullshit numbers) Usain Bolt can run at the speed of sound. His standing punching force is 5kg and he's never received official fighting training. Mike Tyson can run at 15kmph, as a standing punching force of 150kg and has all of his fights under his belt. Usain Bolt therefore has a body that can withstand running at the speed of sound. All he has to do is run at a speed where his body mass is enough to crush a human an tackle Tyson and he wins. Speed matters when gravity and directions don't, characters that can run at those speeds can use it better in a fight than Bolt can.
Except mike Tyson and Usain bolt's difference is speed is within normal human limits... Fictional characters don't operate on the same parameters... A speed difference of 1 mach is already so impossible for the slower character to respond in the real world... That's basically you trying to react to a gun when fired from point blank... So of course, if you widen the gap to FTL speeds, the impossibility of a win for the slower characters becomes more evident.. of course there are ways around it but speed is one of the most basic factors first to consider when two characters are matched up.. with all that said, speed is not the only factor to consider of course and it's not always correct that the faster character wins all the time... It only applies when the speed difference is so high that one character is practically fighting a statue (I.E. FTL characters vs non-lightspeed characters) and the statue has nothing to offset the speed difference...
@@vashe4008 True but flight/Running speed is different then fighting speed. You could be faster than someone but be slower when it comes to hand to hand combat. Right?

I want to point out this: In Joker vs Sweet Tooth, the main factor why Joker won was because he outsmarted his opponent, i.e. being smarter in the situation = win, which makes sense. But then we switch over to Carnage vs Lucy where they didn’t give Carnage that benefit and the god awful „more TNT = win“ rule was applied. Carnage is a genius when it comes to psychological strategy and possibly the best killer in all of Comics. When he realizes that one way of attacking his victim doesn’t work, he doesn’t go for a second attempt with the same attack, he pbserves and adjusts to his opponent. Not to mention that with him being a cold hearted psycho, he would use Lucy‘s love for animals against her for oppenings. But they didn’t. Not to mention they said Lucy would kill herself for her ultimate attack, meaning it would come down to a draw, but nah, they ignored that and let her win no problem.
@@lolstalgic9602 interesting saying "research gets cherry picked". I agree. But it's not death battle fault. It's just that given how much source material and contradictions there are in marvel and DC, any character can be put in any tier. Heck, even Aunt May can be scaled to be stronger than Oblivion through enough mental gymnastics.
yeah, it makes it hard to talk about a lot of the fights. take Ben vs Lantern, if you were thinking of most modern depictions of Green Lantern during discussions it would make sense that Ben would win but i literally had a guy send me to a Reddit with a link to a crusty ass multi-decade old comic page of obscure silver age bullshit and I'm like "thanks for reminding me that American comics have characters nearly centuries old that have literally dealt with the multiverse ending multiple times"

I like how they ignored that Rouge doesn't wear the bracers of restraint like Wonder Woman does. Which means when Rogue absorbs from her, she actually would have access to Wonder Woman's Full power.
@@Mychannel-sp6lt I mean, you say that. However, the thing most people ignore is the characters themselves. Specifically their personalities. Wonder Woman is if anything else, an honorable warrior, as evident by her entire run. Rogue is an unarmed combatant who is also a woman. Wonder Woman would have now knowledge of her. She would either offer her a weapon, or fight her bare handed if Rogue would rather. Also, I don't think you understand what I meant. Rogue would be absorbing Wonder Woman's full untapped power. Rogue does not wear the bracers wonder woman wears. She would not be limited. Meaning unless Wonder Woman realizes this quickly, and removes her own bracer to counter. Which wouldn't matter much at that point. Rogue also absorbs the physicality of those she touches, and muscle memory is a thing. That, and many factors means Rogue could go toe to toe with Wonder Woman except for two things. 1: Rogue would be absorbing through out the fight, even if just by punching Wonder Woman in the face. Keep in mind, Wonder Woman's Standard outfit facilitates Rogue. And 2: Currently, Rogue has the ability to instantly kill those who she touches, because she wants to. I'm not saying Wonder Woman Can't win, I'm just saying this is how Rogue wins. In addition to what Wiz ~ Boom said. Take care now, bye bye then. Lew-Who, Za-Her!

I just. Fuckin hate speed scaling in general. I mean it's important bc the flash exists but it just becomes the focus of almost every fight when it's just not satisfying.
@@amiablereaper my problem with speed characters is... if they can react and move so fast.... how does shit like the flash getting a bomb clipped to his arm even happen in the first place? Or how do they even fight when they are still sight based beings? if you move faster than the speed of light... you cant see anymore and would go blind... the faster you go the more photons crash into your eyes to trigger receptors to stimulate nerves in your brain... imagine if you move at the speed of light... all those photons would overload your eyes and you would be blind. Would be like your eye-ball is directly in the sun itself. Or the other thing would happen, you move faster than light so your eyes wouldnt be able to pick up photons in the first place because your body is moving faster than photons... again you would be blind. They act like science and shit just dont exist... then use science to explain things... its annoying...
My biggest problem with death battle is them comparing movement speed to combat speed. Usain Bolt runs really fast, but that doesn't mean he can throw more punches than Bruce Lee (when he was alive, obviously)
There’s also reaction time, someone might be able to run at light years but can still be killed by a gun shot to the head as they couldn’t react fast enough to a gun going off.
Another problem with the Batman Beyond vs Spider-man 2099 is that they say something about the newer suits that they both have, but have the entire fight with their original suits
Dude yeah they love to do that shit, like in naruto vs ichigo, when ichigo just fights in his 1st soul reaper form which isn't his true form and then goes to his weaker mugetsu form because????
My favorite instance of that is during the first Goku vs Superman fight when they say they won’t be using GT Goku but then he transforms into Super Saiyan 4.

You forgot Ben 10 vs Green Lantern. As Kuro pointed out, they directly contradicted themselves saying Ben could hold back the Big Bang, and later said he could not stop the universe being destroyed despite both times it was coming from THE SAME DEVICE.
Wrong, Ben did hold back the big bang as feedback. Ben however couldn't stop the anialarg from destroying the universe, ben asked his personalities if Alien X can stop it, and they reply with *"it's too late for that"* as a result alien x failed to save that universe, so he just had to recreate a replica with some mistakes in it
The problem I always had with Yang VS Tifa is that they calculated Yang's durability based on her going through a concrete pillar, and explained how much a pillar can resist. Except they used the pillar's ability to resist vertical force being pressed down on it, when Yang's feat involved her going through it sideways.
@ShinigamisCreation it's been a minute since I've seen it, but doesn't it actually just take sunlight to kill him, if I remember correctly jotaro obliterated his body and skull and he wasn't dead until after being in direct sunlight. I honestly don't have enough knowledge on Dracula to make a real decision lol.
@ShinigamisCreation aye fair enough, I always thought that alucard wasn't effected because he was half, if Dracula isn't killed by sunlight, he has advantage abusing that alone, assuming his presence doesn't "blot out the sun" or something like that.
@ShinigamisCreation that mob v tets fight was painful because while tets did haver far more power mob has way more in his toolkit one of those tools being the ability to absorb and use the psychic power of others and they just ignored it all for raw strength
@ezlomacks6533 wrong. Jotaro killed dio by destroying dios stand, in other words his literal soul. He was dead after that, they just took his body into the sunlight for good measure. This also means the only ways to really kill him are destroying his stand + sunlight.
Also: "Doomsday has regularly fought and defeated light-speed opponents, while that kind of speed is an extreme rarity in the Marvel Universe" if you've seen the crazy feats many Marvel characters do in *other Death Battles,* you'd think Aunt May was the only one from that universe who's never been confirmed to go lightspeed
To be fair, outside of sometimes matching Sentry and Thor, Hulk is slower than a lot of those characters (at least before immortal hulk and excluding occasional power changes).
LOL! True. I just saw a DB where Thor somehow is able to travel 200,000 times the speed of light. This show is total ass clown shoes and no one should take it seriously.

So he has potentially FTL feats if we take into account all the times he’s shown the capacity to avoid light based attacks. So even if he’s not ftl he can still react to and defeat opponents who are at that level... Don’t get me started on the speed stats for Goku Vs. Superman.
The Yang vs Tifa was PURE promotional material for RWBY. They tried to say that because she was smashed up into the atmosphere and crashed down without any harm then she can tank a lot of damage. @@zegtendo724 I think when Yang uses her semblance her aura is shattered from one hit. So that's probably the reason why her arm got cut off when the sword was swinged at her. I say this because her aura has been broken so many times when she gets hit while using her semblance.
Let's not forget they said Mario was strong enough to lift and kick away a castle he was just in because of the gag cutscene after you beat the boss (A cutscene with a castle smaller than Mario)
I remember how peach was able to kick a soccer ball and it would turn into three balls so she scores three times. Therefore she has so much kicking power she could break a soccer ball twice. Which means she can obliterate a human body by kicking it. Has she shown any strength or durability (her leg doesn't get obliterated) feats even remotely similar?
I have a problem with that feat to but it is nothing to do with the actual streath of being able to do so.it the fact that she made three balls with that kick not split it into three meaning it was done through some sort of magic that multiplied jt.
"They say 18 is *possibly* planet level" I mean, literally everyone in DBZ is planet after even the Saiyan saga. 18 is multi-planet or solar system level, at a minimum.
Honestly, the best way to view DBZ is like an ancient story of a warrior ascending to fight Gods and it suddenly makes way more sense as to why this shit gets so ridiculous.
@@ladychrya9379 That's the fun thing. They're both at minimum planet level, and have an endless supply of energy to just keep chucking that kind of power.

"She can manipulate sand!" "And guess what so can a level one f+cking diglett." I love this. Edit: I talk about Diglett, and started a war...well that's the internet for ya I guess
The two biggest issues with death battle's analysis that they constantly make is: 1. Treating every feat as a max feat when scaling (e.g. Character X survived hits from character Y who once destroyed planets, therefore he can take hits from planet busting attacks even though they've are typically damaged by far weaker hits before) 2. Equating travel speed to reaction to reaction / combat speed (Character X across the galaxy in 10 seconds, therefore he can move 10,000,000 times the speed of light when they have been hit by far slower characters and have never shown even close to reacting that fast in combat)
Man, I'm still ticked at Toph vs Gaara. Let's just take Toph while she's in her prime at the very end of the original series and put her up against post-timeskip Gaara AFTER he lost his biggest asset, the demon that gave him nearly infinite Chakra and allowed him to use all of his huge stupidly powerful super expensive sand attacks. And then let's take him complaining about how much energy those moves drain and use it to prove that he'd just fizzle out way too fast. Yeah, no shit. Of course he'd have a hard time fighting while he's in the worst condition of his life using a ton of techniques that weren't even made for him with that level of energy. But Toph can see sand, sooo.... I guess she just wins or whatever. It's not like Gaara's able to manipulate more sand at once and attack people harder, faster, and more freely or anything.... If Toph ended up in the Sand Coffin once then she'd be screwed just because bending is a martial art and you have to be able to move your body to actually do things. Meanwhile, Gaara's sand wall is, well, automatic. And the iron in it would make it harder than normal rocks, presumably, just because it's hardened metal filings. This fight was stupid. To make things even worse, Toph's bending style isn't even that mobile, Earthbending tends to be about superior attack and defense. You know, attacking people head-on and picking your moment. So she'd be extra unequipped for stuff like the sand tendril(?) that crushed Lee's leg, even while being able to sense where it is. And once ANY of her limbs goes, that's going to directly screw with her fighting abilities a ton. With Gaara, though? He could literally break both his legs and lose an arm, and he'd still have superior mobility with his sand while also being able to kill with the Sand Coffin.
1) the didn’t take in her prime Toph they used a weird mash of Toph when she was still pretty young, before she was an adult, saying she was in her prime at the end of ATLA is grossly misunderstanding her. 2) the two universes have *very* different magic systems in them, who’s to say that Charka isn’t anywhere near equivalent to bending. So Gara having “nearly unlimited Chakra” is a mute point. 3) Toph can bend metal, meaning that all the iron (and I thought it was gold in his sand?) is doing is giving Toph *more* control over it. 4) if you took both of them at their prime I believe Toph would still win (admittedly I don’t know as much about Gara as Toph) Toph at her peak bending capabilities can sense vibrations from massive distances away and could easily bend massive chunks of earth so I don’t know but I’m not sure Gara could survive getting dropped into the molten core of the earth.
@@braedenmclean5304 I watch and love both series. Gaara stomps not only Toph but really the whole Avatar Universe. He’s way faster, stronger and durable than anyone in the show. His sand is keeping up with people at light speed. Toph is nowhere near that speed. Plus Gaara’s sand is not only controlled by his chakra but also by his moms spirit that automatically shields him. Even if Toph could overpower Gaara’s sand (she can’t not even his own father could or even try), she would also have to overcome his moms spirit which I don’t even think an Avatar could do. In conclusion, Toph loses before she can even sense what hit her.
@@dco7710 like I said, power scaling and magic systems are so vastly different it’s not *really* compatible. And I’d argue that some avatars could *easily* body Gara. Unless your would argue that somehow Gara could counter bloodbending, lava, the air being taken out of his lungs among plenty of other ways for a fully powered avatar to take him out in seconds.
It's also not like the show actually says "Toph cannot see through sand, plus she can't tell when something is flying at her", her senses are tied to the ground, not earth, she wouldn't be able to see the sand coming at her and would have to guess by Gaara's movements.
@@almento7804 that’s actually incorrect. It was stated that Toph can sense “earth” not just the ground. There is a scene in her debut episode where rocks are flung at her from an opponent in the air, she catches and tosses both of them aside.
The worst death battles had to be the Tracer vs Scout and Yang vs Tifa. They base tracer's stats based of the cinematic shorts and say the in game stats don't count, whilst for scout they say the cinematic shorts don't count for stats because he dies in game to three rockets, (which actually isn't true, scout can survive two direct rocket hits and a splash rocket from maximum damage fall off). Yang vs Tifa was literally just favouritism, they say Tifa is stronger and yang has less durability but she just manages to take every hit and becomes more powerful because??
I remember them saying “Yang wins because she can withstand going through 6 cement pillars.” My first thought was “okay, but Tifa survived sephiroth’s super novas, so literally, Yang’s feat doesn’t matter.
@@SecureInMyHead Personally I feel there are a lot of flaws in the argument of that (though I agree that that fight was unhealthily bias), mainly because going off lore and the Super Nova's cut scene, the resulting explosion of the Super Nova hitting all three party members can't not destroy... everything, and the fact that everything around the party survives, that means that everything around the party can not only not be destroyed by the SN, but not take really any damage at all. And we know that it's not a matter of the explosion only hitting the three party members and nothing else because the distribution of force to hit all three would need to also hit the area around them. So that leaves us with two conclusions, either the SN that was used in the battle was not the true SN that the game lore describes, at which point any one being able to survive it isn't as impressive as described by the lore, or the lore is wrong, and SN can't destroy the universe because he should only need to cast it once and game over for the entire party, which isn't a good fight from a design stand point. For a better example of why the SN logic isn't great to go by, look into the attacks from Disgaea, specifically, 5. Half of the big attacks you get from weapon mastery involve blowing up a planet but you can then turn around and reincarnate a character with them back to level 1, and those animations still play, but they can't kill a basic character that you could one shot when you were level 9,999. And this is noting that the final learned skill for fist weapons (secret skill not withstanding) is you condense all of existence save for yourself, and your targets into your hand and punch with enough force to then cause (as the skill is named) a new Big Bang. Basically if the attacks carried the weight that they're suppose to, the fights would be pretty meaningless.
Kakashi vs Obi wan Kenobi, Kenobis my all time favorite Jedi and it pissed me off they gave him feats that he didn’t even do, being very inaccurate on certain feats, and saying the force is limitless and doesn’t require energy or it’s taxing. To quote Han Solo “that’s not how the force works!”
I absolutely agree, and this is from a Kenobi fan. Jedi have been seen getting tired from exerting themselves too much, despite the force being everywhere.
The Force itselfe is probably limitless, but he obviously cant channel all of it just cause he wants. Also Kakashi can move faster then the Eye, and usually fights whit Proxies like a Thunder Bunshin. So stupid Battle.
Problem is Kakashi biggest buff the Obito's Susanoo is something he doesn't have regularly, and there's no way for Kakashi to stop Obi-Wan using the Force on him.

@@indg0205 6 was the passing grade I needed to keep watching the show after 5(with bronzewick farms being, bar none, imo the best arc in rwby and actually generally good), 7 actually dared to have quality. But it seems in v8 m&k got salty because viewers were not exclusively anti-authoritarian brainlets like them so they decided to strip all nuance from the conflict. We need people to know that leading people bad, quality be damned! The only part in v8 I enjoyed was the fact salem got tricked twice. She is actually a human being whose hubris fucks her over! They set it up in 7, foreshadowed it with hazel's betrayal and paid it off with cinder! Huzzah! The time wasted making cinder sympathetic to then double down on her being a horrible being annoyed me, especially with how cliche it was. And then you realize that james' semblance is never mentioned in-show, and he is made a caricature and a punching bag despite being a truly valorous man with some flaws. They had to practically replace him to make an antagonist for v8. I have many feelings on v8, few of them good. And most of them aren't about blunders made from lack of skill, but about the haughty airs that come despite the writing mistakes made. I was saddened by v5, since it was a genuine attempt at grander writing that fell flat because of multiple reasons, some the fault of the writers and directors and some not. V8 is just this "consume this and don't think" character assassination caused by us "not getting" the point of james. So they made him mentally ill and villainous because nobody's gonna care about a cis white man. But obviously they did except for the worst kinds of people because he is still a mentally ill person and RT should be hard at work to dog themselves out of this hole. Maybe have jacques and james have survived somehow and now they have to travel the world as vagabonds to reach the main characters and they can redeem themselves? Idk, but the show is stupid and the sooner it goes all-out the better.
Raises some good points. Death Battle has a habit of putting Strength vs Strength and Endurance vs Endurance, like Thor vs Wonder Woman, or Red Hood vs Winter Soldier. They very rarely put an explanation on how someone gets past a strength or weakness unless its already super one sided. I also have a problem with the constant use of SCALING going on in more recent episodes, like Saberwulf vs Jon Talban. They'll show a feet someone else does in some other way and say "well that proves he's as strong", but lose all of the context. Scaling only really works if both people are putting in their all when fighting (or the person you are analyzing was at least and use THAT encounter for feats). Its like saying that I can catch a cat, therefore I must be as quick as a cat who has faster reflexes than a human. No, that makes no sense, cause all I did was likely corner it. Someone's ability to control buildings with a special power doesn't really tell you about how another person has strong muscles. Context matters.
Exactly! Scaling is so god awfully stupid it allowed CRISIS, another "who would win" and "how powerful is blank" RUclipsr, to say Solid Snake, a confirmed fucking human, can physically overpower and outrun Raiden, a guy who, and let that shit sink in, throws giant, as in huge-building-sized, robots up in the air, and managed to stop a huge warship with one hand. But nooo, Snakey wins because sCaLinG. I swear, some complete imbecile is gonna say Batman is ftl and a universe buster because he managed to defeat Superman a few times (completely ignoring the huge kryptonite dildo or whatever Batman makes out of that green rock this time).
@@quantumvideoscz2052 They actually did that in Red Hood vs Winter Soldier. "Jason Todd escaped the grasp of a Kryptonian". Toddlers escape the grasp of their parents all the time, that feat means nothing.
Yeah the using other peoples stats for a character is so dumb. They use to be pretty strict that no outside help and just the own characters canon feats would be used now it’s almost a free for all for a characters stats and it’s so stupid and shows massive basis in a lot of episodes now.
One they got wrong that really pisses me off is then Ben 10 vs Green Lantern one. They literally say the omnitrix can react fast enough to protect bens arm, but then they let it get cut off in the fight.
oh that annoys me to no end. They said the omnitrix will react fast enough to stop the big bang from blowing up in his face but green lantern can just cut it off which is one of the reasons they said he would win.
@Rocky Croods but they never said how he would get around the omnitrix defense. They just said he would which is poor reasoning. They're doing comparative things way too often now for their reasoning and it is a crutch. Beating one assassin doesn't mean you can beat every assassin in an assassin's guild but DB would dub it so.
Love to his videos way that criticizes death battle for the flaws in their analysis and scaling without bringing up outside sources, Feats and statements while at the same time showing appreciation for the series. That’s why your a g nemesis.
The scaling for Star Wars is beyond bizarre to me. Obi Wan scales to a black hole and has nanosecond reaction time, but Yoda loses to Mickey because Grogu passed out once.
They are hugely inconsistent with how they view the Force in the battles. In Vader's and Yoda's it's nerfed ... for some reason. But in Luke's and Obi-wan's it is buffed.
@@darththeo Imo Luke was also nerfed down severely to make it look like he was even with Harry. But Vader being nerfed down is oil on the fire, because Doom was so obviously going to win anyway. There was no reason to put Vader down so far.
I aint gonna lie yoda was nefed...but he aint winning against mickey they didn't really include any of mickeys major feats nor powers. yoda was down played but so was mickey. still the fight should have not been as one sided as it was.
Given this is freaking Kingdom Hearts, where Multiversal level keyblade wielders beat beings with Multiversal destruction levels with massive hax and magic, nobody in Star Wars can beat any of the wielders. And no, Keyblade and their wielders can simply says No to the Physics of whatever universe they are in, so they can beat even the most experienced Force User despite the Home Dimension Advantage they have.
The thing that bugged me the most about Winter Soldier vs Red Hood is that they had previously stated that Batman was so close to Captain America in terms of physical ability that his significantly superior combat training was enough to make up the difference but suddenly with Jason and Bucky Jason looses because his use of venom isn't a constant effect like Bucky's super soldier serum. Like I went into that one expecting Bucky to win but the breakdown of their abilities convinced of the opposite. Based solely on how DB explained it the fight should have been a slow and steady push in Winter Soldiers favor that Red Hood reversed as soon as he used venom at which point he'd have destroyed Winter Soldier before the venom wore off. I don't know nearly enough about the characters to be confident that's what should've happened in general but based on the DB analysis, especially taking Bat v Cap into account...
For me the thing that piss me off the most in that death battle was that they said that red hood mask could analyze guns or somthing like that but his mask couldn’t pick up that the gun had hand scanner
@@crimsonemperor143 That's an overarching problem with Death Battle over all. The fights don't *really* matter. That is the depicted version of the fight doesn't necessarily represent how the fight should actually play out. It's a bullshit cop out they've been using forever that the only thing that really matters about the fight is the winner. They frequently portray characters and fights in laughably incorrect fashion sometimes more blatantly than others.
@@Draiocht012 exactly. For instance the Buu vs Kirby one. They showed Buu losing because of the sun. Then never explained how Kirby would have actually defeated Buu without the use of the sun (which is counted as outside help in death battle). There was nothing shown or explained outside of the animation that would give Kirby the win as either everything they showed and explained it honestly at most would have been a constant stalemate if the two. So the deciding factor was indeed Kirby’s use of the sun in the animation.
Plus, the venom dosage is perfectly calculated to maximise his strength gain without diminishing his mental faculties. He'd gain a massive strength boost whilst retaining his intellect, like how Bane calculates his typical dosages
The Gaara vs Toph one still leaves in awe by the sheer bullshittery of it. Saying an Avatar character can beat a Naruto character is the same as saying a Naruto character can beat a DBZ one. The power scale is just on another level.
@Noah zzstu Smith yeah it just depends on who it is. I have know doubt in my mind that a few avatars can straight up obliterate a good chunk of the naruto roster. Just like someone like rock lee can obliterate a good chunk of the atla roster.
@Noah zzstu Smith The issue with the Toph vs Gaara thing is that they made up feats for Toph to win. Since when did Toph display combat ability on that level of speed or control? The girl usually tosses a couple of rocks at a time. How can she blitz Gaara who has better control and creativity with sand? Then they completely neglected Gaara's fight IQ.
This is the only fight i think is wrong. Gaara is shown to use chakra and stamina with his attacks. But they made it seem like Toph just had to wait him out until he grew tired. Bending takes stamina to perform. Toph's biggest bending feats are comparable to bumi, who strained to bend large objects and was tired afterwards. To match gaara, toph should be at least as exhausted as gaara, if not more. Gaara's simplest (but still fatal) attacks take little chakra and are more than fatal enough to overpower an exhausted toph. Plus toph taking control of gaara's gold dust would take effort and time. No bender has ever been shown taking over someone else's bending material without effort; deflect yes, but not takeover.
The biggest problem with the Gaara vs Toph fight is the fact that they made bending take priority over chakra. Both Gaara and Toph can manipulate sand, Toph with bending and Gaara with chakra but they never explain why Toph's bending should ever take precedence over Gaara's chakra. Like what's the logic behind Toph's bending overpowering chakra? These are two different forces of nature. It makes no sense, it should work more like a tug of war. Both sides trying to manipulate it but neither being able to go all the way, in which case it would result in a purely physical fight which Gaara as a ninja should be able to easily win.
@@GrandInfernoElite garaa isn't actually using the gold dust tho. He is just having his sand work with it mixed in. Also we haven't seen an fight were one or the other lost. As they couldn't continue without one of them dying in the comics. Cuz that was the scope of their bending.
Was really hoping you'd bring up the Ben 10 Green Lantern one. They explicitly mention the omnitrix's ability to instantly switch Ben's form without his input in the event of life-threatening danger, but they let Hal Jordan cut his arm off with scissors without that coming up at all.
I think the bad part about DB nowadays are the high amount of comparitive feats. It clusters characters too closer together without determining their real skills.
I can see your point though I would argue skill level isn’t always a factor in vs debates. Like if one character hits with 100000 tons of force and another has more skill but only hits with 100 tons, the wider skill gap ain’t gonna help them.
@@JIreland1992 yeah, but the two kinda go together really, like to say Gaara loses to Toph you have to scale them both completely wrong in every stat and then also ignore every skill that each character has.
@@dweebpatrol well I don’t agree with that fight so I can’t say anything about it. I will say that I do think skill does play into who wins but it does depend on how far apart the power gap is. Look at Lex Luthor vs DR Doom for example. Lex was physically more powerful but it wasn’t enough to overcome Dooms magic. Then look at Deadpool vs Mask, Deadpool was more skilled but the Mask was an unkillable cartoon god. It’s all dependent on the match up.
They are basicallt using dbz style power scaling of A>B>C, to justify compiling feats of multiple characters into one. Looks like Seth has corrupted them lol, I still remember Seth scaling All-Might to a black hole because a weaker superhero had black hole powers despite the fact that that superhero is not even a fighter. This is why I prefer tier style scaling, escentially you can put Thor, Hulk, Flash and Superman in the same tier without adding their feats to one another. This allows power scaling to be more specific, like Superman can beat flash and beat flash villains but this doesn't make him faster than Flash rather specific stats that Superman has like his versatility gave him the win. This makes it better than DBZ's powerscalers braindead method of A beats B who beats C, so A>B>C. Modern DB would deadass put Superman>Flash in everything including speed.
I could understand most of this just being favoritism and that’s fine. But what really irks me about these death battles is when they say “we’ve run the calculations through all possibilities.” Which makes it a certainty and that’s irritating. Cause I’m pretty sure in Ben 10 vs. Green Lantern, “all possibilities” would mean GL could 100% destroy every last one of Ben’s aliens ALONG with the busted technology of the Omnitrix which is blatantly false. Instead, they speed ran the fight just to use Alien X, not use him correctly, and proceed to beat Ben using tricks that would never work to begin with.
Yeah. They even completely disregarded one of the quotes they used. The second Alien X comes out on a fight, unless it's against another celestialsapien or similar level being, the fight's already decided, it's a matter of how merciful Ben decides to be at that point. He didn't even NEED Alien X in the fight. Here's 5 other aliens that would bear Hal: 1. Feedback. The constructs are composed of energy, which can be absorbed 2. Toepick. He's able to instill dear and disgust with just his face, and the ring is stated to require concentration to use 3. Pesky dust. Again, the ring requires concentration to be used, and you just gotta put him to sleep when he's in low orbit 4. Upgrade. Take control of the ring and turn it against Hal 5. Nanomech. Fly int his brain and sever his brainstem
There's one more. The Scorpion vs Ryu fight, where they show Ryu killing Scorpion, but Scorpion wins anyway because they don't know the difference between an undead and a ghost. It's not much of due to their own logic, but it was just a mistake. They literally thought Scorpion was immortal but he was actually canonically killed by being cut in half by Subzero during Armaggedon.
As a Mortal Kombat fan, I hated how they brought up Scorpion's power rising while in Hell despite the fact that HOW MUCH his power rises is unspecified and likely not significant. If it was, why the fuck would he still get his ass whooped by Sonya (who is not stronger than Ryu) in MKX while in the Netherrealm Fortress?
@@mattross1162 I mean... There IS a Hell 2 in the MK universe (More like a deeper layer but I'm not entirely sure), but people can still die in the netherrealm. I don't know what happens to their bodies, so I'll need to doublecheck later... Because, if it worked like that, wouldn't *everyone* be "immortal" in there? 🤔
@@gillettematch3188 I tend to just enjoy the fight scenes themselves at this point. DB logic is sometimes flawed when you look at it. And then there's cases where fans know that they clearly didn't do their research properly.
The issue I also have with DB is that they mix stuff from other continuities and treat it as canon. Like most of the Zelda vs Peach fight has been taken from non-canon source material.
And even with their own fucking logic it doesn't make sense cause Zelda is just magic bullshit and can teleport. That fucking Soccer kick was one of their dumbest examples of feats.
@@Bleeperblopper497 Yes and no. For example the platforming games, kart games and certain sport games are canon (due to stuff like Todette and certain references). But the rpgs are its own canon and Smash bros isn't canon.
For the Scout one, remember in Expiration Date he shot a tentacle off of the bread monster while practically firing before he even faced that angle! With that kind of accuracy and reaction time, he could very easily tie with Tracer's reaction speed. Even if we don’t count supernova since it is a bit pathetic damage wise, we know she is at least capable of keeping up with a planet buster with help. On her own even held her own and survived against one of his clones. While weaker than Sephiroth, still an incredibly dangerous opponent.
Fair... but even then, Yang’s semblance allows her to absorb all that damage and double it, making her twice as strong as Tifa, and she’s been building up those hits from the start.
@@sirensong237 But her aura and semblance can still get overtaxed and crack with enough pressure, and anything Tifa throws out is more than enough to break Yang.
Still don't know why people think summoning a meteor to blow up the sun makes Sephiroth solar system level. Me dropping a nuke on a city doesn't make me city level. There's a whole lot of breakdowns on the Yang vs Tifa fight such as them scaling Yang's durability on the vertical resistance force of highway pillars and not their horizontal, which is what she got launched through as, and will b significantly smaller. Also, Yang's Semblance doesn't prevent damage. Also, Tifa's Limit breaks DO have multipliers that scale from her total attack power and you can find them listed just as easily as you can find SSJ multipliers. Sephiroth vs virgil, they literally mention that supernova was sending someone to a different dimension, and that the yamato cuts through dimensions, also alot of seph's powers come from the environment and being part of the lifestream, sure sephirophs magic could be versatile and vergil couldn't react but virgil fights fucking dante, the king of strange unpredictable weaponry.
Sephiroth himself dose not create the supernova, he merely sends his opponent to a dimension that is currently going through a supernova, and besides if sephiroth was galaxy level how could he lose to a random guy with a big sword
It doesn't matter if they can survive it or not, what matters is that vergil can easily escape it. And besides supernova would only happen if sephiroth had enough time to cast it along with his other spells, with how fast virgil moves/teleports seph. wouldn't be 1. Able to land a hit. And 2. Be able to deflect a hit. It would be a long fought battle but it would go until seph's durability runs out
Wow fanboys at still salty over this? Who would win, someone who has a lot of power but is limited to his own stupidity by not accepting his humanity unt very late VS someone with unlimited universe busting power? Even if vergil could "easily dodge" the super Nova thats just one bullshit on hit attack out of too many. And even if Vergil were to teleport to another dimension, it takes him forever to even make the damn portal, as seen in dmc 5. I really feel annoyed that we never saw how much damage Yang's AURA was taking from Tifa's attacks, both normally and with Materia, as well as during the time Tifa hit her with Limit Break after Limit Break in a row. I feel there is no way Yang's aura should have held up through all of that. We all know aura can be shattered, we seen it happen with Pyrrha. In Yang's match with Mercury, if you watch carefully you see when she activated her semblance, she was nearly out of aura from all the hits she absorbed from Mercury's attack with those...wind bullets? Let's call it that. Also, that pillar test? Yang was hit through it from the side, not going through it from the top to the bottom. It would take less force breaking through the side than from the top. But my biggest peeve of all, the lack of taking EXPERIENCE into account. They admit Yang doesn't do well against kicking foes and Tifa is an experienced mixed martial artist. She should have done way more hits on Yang than the other way around. Dealing MORE damage to her aura before Tifa started resorting to Limit Breaks to finish the fight. I just feel giving Yang the win was just free advertisement to make people more interested in RWBY.
Yang Vs Tifa: Yang saw an enemy bird flying over head and had NO idea how to get to it. ... TIFA JUMPS OFF A FREAKING BUILDING TO CATCH CLOUD AND LAUNCH HIMSELF INTO THE AIR! Yang cannot keep up with Tifa...on any level. If you take into consideration how fast Cloud was moving that he needed 7 boosts to make it into the atmosphere ( his jump, Tifa, Yuffie, Barret, Cid Vincent, Nanaki) and if Tifa supplied 1/7 of the physical strength to throw someone into the atmosphere... No strength feat Yang has compares to that.
One that’s always gotten me is Sora vs Pit where they use a beam going to the moon for Sora’s attack speed.... but that beam never went to the moon, it just flew up and dissipated in the air into the key hole, not to mention they were using a beam that doesnt harm things (only locks or unlocks them) to measure ATTACK SPEED!
I knew there was something really off about how they explained who wins in Thor vs Wonder Woman. I could never explain why but it just kind of stuck out to me as a "Shouldn't Thor have won because of what they said?" episode. @@evanbelton1297 it not that I hate that episode as much as her vs Thor or She-ra, it's just kind of boring when I look back on it since it is an older Death Battle and the death feels a little lacking. Plus I never really payed attention to the stats in that episode so I don't care who won or lost that episode, it was pretty forgettable unless you were on a Death Battle marathon from the beginning to now or looked back at every Wonder Woman fight
With Yang vs Tifa, that episode was done as a tribute to animator Monty Oum's passing, who ran the show which Yang was from. There was absolutely no way they would let his character die in an episode that's dedicated to him, because not only are the 3D animators of the battle very fond of his work, the audience would be blasting the show for "disrespecting his legacy" by having his character get murdered in the death battle.
You are so right. I am happy that they respected his legacy, but I guess in this regard, they should've put Yang up against a character that Yang could actually win against. (by their own logic) I'd say Yang Xiao Long (RWBY) vs Blaze Fielding (Streets of Rage) might've worked better.
And losing a battle isn't anything to be shameful of,even if the calculations are mad stupid like shadow vs vegeta it is still one of my favorites because the animatior is clearly a fan of both characters and presented them as hest as he could.
I believe the biggest offender of this is Ben Ten vs Green Lantern. They wrote off alot of Alien X's actual strength and made him seem weaker than he actually is. Alien X tanked a universe ending bomb to the face then proceeded to remake his entire universe after. And not only that Alien X could blink and make green lantern dissapear. They only said green lantern won because he went back in time ONCE in the comics. Green lantern never even beat Ben all he did was go back and time and cut off his arm. A feat that couldnt happen either since the Omnitrix has SEVERAL fail safes for situations like these. Like there is a whole ass episode where Ben has his hand with the omitrix cut off and he is fine. So as much as i love both combatants, Green Lantern should have lost as soon as alien X showed up
My least favorite part of death battle is when they say something like "(character) can keep up with (other character) and (other character) can react to (someone else's ability), so that means (character) can react to (someone else's ability)." Ex: zuko vs. todoroki Second least is when they make a feat sound impressive, but in the explanation, they say that it wasn't actually even that impressive. Ex: winter soldier vs red hood
One of the most ridiculous examples is saying that Virgil can cut through universes with his sword, and then having Sephiroth kill him in a pocket universe that according to them he could escape.
@@CatholicPiccolo like my biggest issue with Vs battles is people add BS rules that dont exist. Like I've seen people saying summons and shit like supernova are unlockable because they are unavoidable in game. Which is fucking the peak of dumb. Not saying you did this (DB certainly has)
Funny thing is, they ended up spitting in his face at the same time anyways. Tifa was one of Monty's absolute favorite characters, and having her and Yang fight would've probably been a dream come true for him. But not the way Death Battle did it. They skewed the stats and the research while at the same time painted Yang as a petulant child. "Oh I can't enter this bar because I'm too young? Well screw that, I'll just beat everyone's face in and kill the bartender, how about that!?" And then to top it all off, they used it as a way to advertise Rwby's next season by having a banner showing it right at the end. That death battle was the one that finally checked me out of the series entirely. I admit I'm still a bit tilted from it.
It wasn't mentioned, but Ryu vs Jin was an annoying case as well. Not a very blatant issue, but DB mentions both the Satsui No Hado AND the Mu No Ken; These powers are explicitly exclusive from one another. The only way you master Mu No Ken is to rid yourself of the Satsui No Hado, and vice versa. It would not be possible to allow for both at the same time, so adding both for consideration is just incorrect.
Maybe I forgot since I haven't played OOT in so long, but last I checked with Link those bracers were definitely only for lifting heavy objects. If you try to walk up Death Mountain with your shield out and block the boulders, you take damage. If you stand in the way of the boulders, you still take damage. Pretty much they screwed that up so bad, it was funny due to how sad they messed up. Also, they gave Link everything while only giving Cloud a few items? Maybe if they ever decided to redo the fights, they should play the games and try to beat them with the stuff they plan on giving the DB fighters to see if it is viable before adding it to a fight to the death?
@@Kaimariification the thing is Cloud didn't get the best gear In his game he should have got the armor called the Onyx Missile his weapon would be Ultimate weapon and in all fairness as far as materia goes he shouldn't get Enemy Skill the most op materia in the game or any of the summons do to how death battle works but he should get Cure as well as a bunch of other good Independent materia to boost his physical stats and as far as Accessories go ribbon to Make him immune to negative status effects.
@@That1powergamer Pretty much depending on what materia they would have given him, he would have curbstomped Link. Anything with a drain MP would mean that Link is a mana fountain. Poison = Link would take damage for a decent amount of time since he doesn't have a way to counteract it other than waiting it out. Time magic = Link can be slowed and stopped in his games (OOT has him stop in fear due to those creepy undead guys). Fire magic and ice magic would depend on what "system" they are using. If they use FF7, it is burst damage. If they go OOT, they are a DoT and stun respectively.
@@Bleeperblopper497 yeah the fact that it's "Evils bane" shouldn't have any bearing on the fight other than the duribility of the sword it's self Cloud may have been a sell sword but he is not a bad person he has a moral compass and knows right from wrong he also saved the planet twice and ended up walking away from the Merc life and became a delivery boy in the end so I would say he is a good person over all.
I get a strong feeling that DB starts from their conclusion about which character they want to win, and then work backwards to fill in the blanks with shoddy metrics and goofy logic to ensure that this character wins. You can use their own measures against them in a million different ways, and all of this would be fine if it were just for fun, but the way that they put on this veneer of objectivity and scientific inquiry never fails to irritate me.
Imo, one of DB's biggest problems is that they don't use specific versions of characters. They could do a Scarlet Witch vs Raven and instead of using a specific version of Scarlet Witch or Raven. They just clump together various feats from across the character's history and meld it into 1 fighter.
They do use specific versions, but just not in every fight. They need to do it if the fighter used is an earlier version (like toph) but using a conglomeration is fine if the fighter is stated to have all the abilities of previous versions (like mechagodzilla and spyro). That always bugged me about toph, the fight was with her last airbender version, but they gave her abilities from her legend of korra version, but she still had her last airbender physical endurance.
@@NerdMiGerd The Ben10 one was so bad because there's are multiple versions of the Omnitrix that have a safeguard and they purposefully used the one that didn't despite giving Hal literally everything

i feel they broke their rules in grey vs esdeath, one of the main rules (one that gave spiderman the edge against batman) is that there is no prep time for these death battles so anything that takes time before the battle just cant be used which they say in the episode for why esdeath cant use one of her moves and then in the fight they give her the ability to use it anyways. with her time stop ability she probably still could have won but giving her a bunch of free super attacks that take a ton of prep time throughout the fight seems underhanded
So here's a fight that's been bothering me: DIO VS Alucard At the end of the video, they state how Alucard would have no way to kill DIO without Ether sunlight or Harmon. What they failed to mention was that there was one other way to kill him. And it was kinda the main plot point in part 3. ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS DESTROY HIS HEAD. It makes me so mad they left this detail out. Because there are not one, but TWO different cases were this seems to work. (Soiler warning) The first case is when Jotaro caves DIO's scull in after playing dead. You can see how weak DIO's body gets. And he probably wouldn't have regenerated if he hadn't sucked Joseph's blood. The second case is the ending of the fight itself. Jotaro hits DIO in his weak leg which causes several of his body parts to explode. Well one of those parts were head. And after the head explodes, DIO dose not get back up. Therfore PROVING that all Alucard needed to do was destroy the head. Also, I don't like how they gave DIO his ice powers form part 1. Sure, he has some of his vampiric abilities. But in no way did we ever see him freeze someone in ice during part 3. Granted, he might not have had the need too. But I can see some instances where they could have been used. I know there are going to be people who may not agree with me. And I might have left some things out. But nobody's perfect
Breaking DIO's head is a strategy but then what? Your second instance is the instance of the STAND being destroyed and by proxy his body, he COULD get up from that too because the doctors after they recovered Joseph and DIO they then saw cellular activity going on meaning he was regenerating. My second problem with that is that even if he couldn't get up from that (which is false for all the reasons above) you stated in both instances that was JOTARO and guess what? They both have stands that can go at the speed of LIGHT (as proven by Silver Chariot cutting light and Star Platinum holding a punch barrage battle against it). Alucards highest speed feat (and this is the VERY highest someone wanked it so it is very likely to not be true) was Mach 1501. The speed of light is Mach 874,030 so Alucard couldn't even touch DIO without The World putting a hole through his chest and kicking him into a nearby building. Also I understand your point on DIO's ice powers but he was able to use them again after drinking Joseph's blood. But if you view DIO's personality, you'd know that he has always has been cocky about how his stand is the ultimate stand and how much he just loves to use it instead of his vampiric abilities so in context of DB rules, he can for certain use it. (P.S he regenerated from the head injury semi well to the point of being able to make attempted precise movements with his knife)
@@abdirashidabukur Silver Chariot cut a beam of light because Polnareff predicted its trajectory ahead of time, not because he reacted to it flying If I place a sword in front of a gun's barrel and end up blocking the bullet this doesn't make me faster than it, I just saw where it was going to hit before it fired
Well the thing about powers and abilities is that just because a character has them doesn't mean their going to be used other than in specific circumstances. You never see Star Finger or Sar S U C C again because those were only really good for those particular instances in which they were used. With Dio, he can STOP TIME. He probably doesn't feel the need to use ANY of his vampire abilities, and just because he doesn't use them does NOT mean he doesn't have them.
@@creativename1673Except Chariot had to be fast enough to not just swing the sword, also move there, which it did so fast the LIGHT SPEED beam looked like it was in slow motion(in anime), it's not comparable to "huuh durrr it's just like placing your sword in front of the barrel of a gun"
The Tifa fight still annoys me. The choreography is great, the editing is awesome, but just the sheer amount of nonsense makes the fight an actual joke. The only materia's used was fire I and blizzard I, yet she was post FF7 based on the outfit. No reraise, no regen, no barrier, no summons, was only given the weakest / most common elemental materia, and the limit break was EXTREMELY nurf'd. They might as well of took away Super Saiyan and the kameha-wave from Goku since materia's are literally LITERALLY one of the major factors of the fucking story! Also. the weapon they gave her was premium heart, which has 8 materia slots so there's actually no canonical excuse for the blatant straw-manning of her character's kit. Anyways, I digress, thank you for the video.
Yeah the Gaara / Toph one gets to me because in Avatar they made it extremely clear that Toph weakness is Sand. Since she is Blind the way she conpisates for it in her Earthbending is using the vibrations and could determines movements that people are throwing at her if attacking. In The show tho, she states that Sand makes it very fuzzy for her to move right. She could barely fend off against Sand Bender bandits from taking Appa but to be fair she was literally carrying a building.

This was hilarious
You laugh but I've heard Dragon Ball power-scalers recite that word for word.
The thing that ticks me off is when DB says "person a beat person b in a fight (not a race) and person b is exactly this fast so we can say person a is also this fast"
Yeah no, if I smack Usain Bolt in the face with a sledgehammer that does not mean I can outrun him, it means I'm the jackass that can sneak up on someone with a sledgehammer.

Yeah I'm going to hell for laughing at that one.
But technically if you were able to catch up to him and hit him then it would mean you're at least close to the same speed as him

Like how in comics through comic bs Batman can like.. snare Flash in a net, doesn't mean Batman is as fast as Flash, just that he predicted where he would be and set a trap
There's a way more glaring issue with the Jotaro Vs Kenshiro battle, the fact that they missed Jotaro knows Kenshiro, because he reads Shonen Jump.

>they were literally the ones who took it out of context

Death Battle transitive property:
Mario can survive the black hole formed at the end of Super Mario Galaxy
But he still dies when touching a Koopa
The Koopa must be Galaxy Destroyer Level
Man people really started Thanos beat boxing over my comment
I mean... they're not _wrong_
It’s a game
I mean, on some level, we have to take game logic out of this.
We can say the exact same thing about Sonic too. He can get slammed around by giant robots and still keep fighting, even without rings outside of the game logic. But if a Motobug touches him, he flipping dies due to game logic. But that doesn't make sense looking at what he's been able to do.
So, again, we have to take that out of the equation because it's not a fair assessment.
Some comic writer 60 years ago: draws one panel where a random dog dodges a laser
DB: as you can see here, this dog scales to FTL and that's why he killed spiderman
another thing that bugs me about DB:
Battle A: this character was said to be able to do this, but it was never shown explicitly, so we didnt consider it as true.
Or the “we won’t use power-ups or devices that are only temporary”
"Lex Luthor could fight Larfleeze, therefore he is as powerful as a Green Lantern"
That's like saying, Usain Bolt can run faster than Floyd Mayweather, therefore he can beat Connor McGregor in a fight.

"Being wrong in versus is a matter of heavy subjectivity, not objectivity"
Preach, brother.
Its opinionated cause its fiction, But these opinions can come to a logical conclusion dictating the accuracy of the victor of the versus
They screwed cloud pretty hard despite clearly being the more powerful warrior
As much as i love loz, cloud is just leagues ahead of any link. The only way link wins is if he has his reality bending equipment from one of the games. Cloud is far more stronger, faster, and durable than link.
@@nope9885 I think they should have used child link from Majora's mask with the fierce deity mask. Hyrule warriors shows the fierce deity cleaving the moon in two and while canonicity of that feat can be argued it would still make the fight closer.
They did the same thing with Superman vs Goku if I remember correctly but that’s a whole disaster on its own
Did they really show toph and gaara fighting in a desert when there was an episode in TLA where Toph couldn't see anything because she can't sense properly when the ground isn't solid?
tbf, they probly decide the winner, tell the animator who the winner is and what powers to show off, then move on with their day. many examples of this can be shown with abilites just not being used despite being talked about or abilities NOT talked about showing themselves.
virgil vs sephiroth is one key example. they talk about how virgil has the power to cut dimensions and break mental links..... but he loses to a pocket dimension created by sephiroth.

Death Battle: "Character 1 was faster when travelling from point A to point B, therefore they have the speed advantage in a fight."
That's like saying Usain Bolt can beat Mike Tyson in a fight because he can run faster.
Well, no. It's like saying if bolt and Tyson were fighting, bolt would have the speed advantage
Ehhh... there's a degree of speed where it probably matters and humans aren't at that.
Right?

I want to point out this:
In Joker vs Sweet Tooth, the main factor why Joker won was because he outsmarted his opponent, i.e. being smarter in the situation = win, which makes sense.
That’s because Joker is DC, who is owned by Warner Bros, who also owns Rooster Teeth

The Biggest issue with these Death Battles are one thing: Composite versions of characteres.

In the commentary, they said that was just a shout out to all the guys that are "I like your show but this fight was bs" to their more infamous episodes,
also in Q&A's they never change their decisions of fights and won't just change an entire episode cause of complaints
I like how they ignored that Rouge doesn't wear the bracers of restraint like Wonder Woman does. Which means when Rogue absorbs from her, she actually would have access to Wonder Woman's Full power.
If WW used her sword....yeah...
@@evanbelton1297 Wonder Woman would just blitz Rouge before she could remove her restraints and rival her in power.

By this same logic, 100%ing _Final Fantasy X_ makes you (the player) literally superhuman, since you have to dodge lightning 200 times in a row.

The problem I always had with Yang VS Tifa is that they calculated Yang's durability based on her going through a concrete pillar, and explained how much a pillar can resist. 1. Treating every feat as a max feat when scaling (e.g. Character X survived hits from character Y who once destroyed planets, therefore he can take hits from planet busting attacks even though they've are typically damaged by far weaker hits before)
2. Equating travel speed to reaction to reaction / combat speed (Character X across the galaxy in 10 seconds, therefore he can move 10,000,000 times the speed of light when they have been hit by far slower characters and have never shown even close to reacting that fast in combat)
This is just vs debating in a nutshell lol.
Yeah pretty much. By DB logic, anyone shooting a gun would also be able to dodge bullets since they have bullet speed level attack speed

I hate what they did to my boy kakashi
I absolutely agree, and this is from a Kenobi fan.
Jedi have been seen getting tired from exerting themselves too much, despite the force being everywhere.
The Force itselfe is probably limitless, but he obviously cant channel all of it just cause he wants.

Ehhhh... 6 - 8 have been pretty good if you ask me..
Volume 4 - 5 just had pacing issues and meh fightscenes tbh

@Rocky Croods You do realize im not talknig power. Its reaction time. Power lv does not equal reaction.
Also he shouldn't have been able to break free of Alien X while halfway disintegrated
They said the omnitrix doesn't protect him from limb removal not destruction of the omnitrix itself
Love to his videos way that criticizes death battle for the flaws in their analysis and scaling without bringing up outside sources,
Feats and statements while at the same time showing appreciation for the series. That’s why your a g nemesis.
The scaling for Star Wars is beyond bizarre to me. Obi Wan scales to a black hole and has nanosecond reaction time, but Yoda loses to Mickey because Grogu passed out once.
Obi doesnt scale though....no one...except fricken Darth Nilhus maybe
It was that and the Doomslayer vs Master Chief episode that made me think that DB chooses favorites
They explicitly mention the omnitrix's ability to instantly switch Ben's form without his input in the event of life-threatening danger, but they let Hal Jordan cut his arm off with scissors without that coming up at all.
well losing an arm isn't life threatening all the blood coming out after would be
It's irrelevant since it would be cutting Ben off from the Omnitrix, which is literally impossible.
no it definatly is possible vilgax has managed to pull it off a couple times, granted one of the times was after he smashed one of bens aliens
@JALEN D CUTTS yea but dont forget the animation fight part is just for entertainment purposes just to showcase the skills
@JALEN D CUTTS what don't you like about it?
@@JIreland1992 yeah, I agree with you, I’m just saying that they’re absolutely horrendous at determining both power and skill
Here's 5 other aliens that would bear Hal:
1. Feedback. The constructs are composed of energy, which can be absorbed
2. Toepick. He's able to instill dear and disgust with just his face, and the ring is stated to require concentration to use
3. Pesky dust. Again, the ring requires concentration to be used, and you just gotta put him to sleep when he's in low orbit
4. Upgrade. Take control of the ring and turn it against Hal
5. Nanomech. Fly int his brain and sever his brainstem
@@sev1120and he could use gutrot and make a scarecrow fear gas or his own basically his more niche aliens can beat green lantern
To be fair, they never say that they're actually _using_ any of the possibilities, just that they analysed all of them. ;3
And in the close fights, they will often say that X character will win a certain amount, but MOST often, Y character comes out on top.
I thought it was mostly due to the fact he cant die specifically in the nether realm wasn't it? cuz where's he gunna go, hell 2?

Yes!. Respresent Poké special!
Exactly. And they also used the Pokemon logic on Blanka... when he's not even a Pokemon.
To be fair though, feat-wise, Pikachu is extremely inconsistent. One episode, he beats legendary Pokémon no problem, and in the next, he gets his ass handed to him by a beginner's Snivy and even a fucking MARGIKARP out of all Pokémon. So fun fact about yang v tifa: at the point it was made semblances actually didn’t have a limit, which was why it wasn’t mentioned. My conspiracy has always been that they release Yang v Tifa when they did specifically to take advantage of that fact, because they announced that rule like literally ~3 months or something after the episode dropped for DB

As someone who used to be a huge Yang fan, I completely agree.
Yang Vs Tifa:
Yang saw an enemy bird flying over head and had NO idea how to get to it.
Saying it doesn't harm things is just wrong, it nearly killed Xemnas and actually killed Xehanort

So as much as i love both combatants, Green Lantern should have lost as soon as alien X showed up
My least favorite part of death battle is when they say something like "(character) can keep up with (other character) and (other character) can react to (someone else's ability), so that means (character) can react to (someone else's ability)."
Ex: zuko vs. todoroki
Second least is when they make a feat sound impressive, but in the explanation, they say that it wasn't actually even that impressive.

One of the most ridiculous examples is saying that Virgil can cut through universes with his sword, and then having Sephiroth kill him in a pocket universe that according to them he could escape.
That's not what happened though. Virgil just took a lot of damage from the Supernova and did cut out of it.
Not only that, but Virgil can see through illusions, and they call Sephiroth's attack a fucking illusion.

You missed out on the REAL REASON why Yang vs Tifa is wrong. They gave Yang the win because RWBY's creator, Monty Oum, died.

It would not be possible to allow for both at the same time, so adding both for consideration is just incorrect.
As a person I use to be best friends said at one point: "there bracers of lifting not gauntlets of ogre strength"

So here's a fight that's been bothering me: DIO VS Alucard
At the end of the video, they state how Alucard would have no way to kill DIO without Ether sunlight or Harmon.
(Soiler warning)
The first case is when Jotaro caves DIO's scull in after playing dead.
They scaled his durability to star platinum for some reason, so that wasn’t an option, they mean’t alucard was too weak to destroy dio’s head
@@abdirashidabukur Silver Chariot cut a beam of light because Polnareff predicted its trajectory ahead of time, not because he reacted to it flying
If I place a sword in front of a gun's barrel and end up blocking the bullet this doesn't make me faster than it, I just saw where it was going to hit before it fired
