I drove Bathurst back in 1982 when Conrod straight went straight the whole way down. The braking at the end of that was terrifying. You actually got airborne at the second hump, which is where the kink is today. It's a whole lot steeper over Skyline than you can see on TV or even in sims too, real roller coaster stuff.
Every minute of that was exciting to watch. You couldn’t script a better finish and it’s just amazing how time and again races at Bathurst end this way. Thank you

What an amazing racetrack. The elevation changes and curves are epic. Also even more epic is the selection of vehicles. I dare say this was somewhat more refreshing to watch than F1.
When Porsche decides to enter a new race you know it is going to be bad day for the rest of the field. Le Mans dame happened when Porsche came back after long lay off and won 3 years in a row. Nurburgring 24hr dame result last year and now Bathurst. Porsche has the best race cars and best team behind it
Remember this was the first time they won at bathurst. Manthey Racing themselves got "defeated" by this race, they're far from the most succesful manufacturer at the Mountain. But cant say i disagree, Porsche are always a rival to keep an eye on.

Hindi and the team brought them up really early , and it was a well known fact their fuel economy was great and the car was one of the most sensible with tyre wear. You just cant ignore a factory Porsche, even when it seems "innocent".

Because Bathurst is among the greatest circuits in the world- I always think of it like Laguna Seca got its corkscrew dragged out over an entire downhill corridor, and it's complimented so well by the two massive straights, it's my personal favorite.
Bathurst is bonkers. Would love to drive it someday. Great race. Bamber said it the best at the end - "that was a proper motorrace". Damn right it was.

Being a Porsche lifer, I do believe that Porsche have been elevating the benchmark of automobile endurance for decades! The 911 is the best sports car range ever created, handsdown. Major props to that yellow Merc for holding off the attacking field behind it!
The MARC Mustang would probably be very competitive against the GT3 cars, but they don't allow it to compete. It's restricted to running a lap time that keeps it off the GT3 pace.

This is what happens when you let teams race and develop democratically. So much for ticket revenue allocations based on template contracts that steal any incentive to win. Hello F1! You watching?
I think this is the ultimate form of track-racing for cars. Due to different strategies, different cars and tyres and everything, the ending of these races means everything is playing out and the race gets a real shake-up and there's a chance to pass other cars, somehting you don't see in other car classes like F1 or even the LMP-classes due to their super-precise nature.
I came here from an F1 compilation to watch some real racing. I was not disappointed, those final laps were butt-clenching tense. The difference in speed from F1 though, is noticeable.

@@helicart I think you're forgetting something. The Skyline GT-R's handling and braking are both superior. The vehicle's AWD system is extremely advanced, perhaps more so than any other. It's designed to allow an otherwise heavy car to have excellent handling and acceleration. If you don't believe me, do you not remember a GT-R winning Bathurst back in 2015? A GT-R won that race, on the exact same track and conditions. There are many more GT-R victories to be listed: look them up.
