I know im late but still: Raccoons live between 2 to 3 years and acording to some people, he's been doing it for 20+ years, so this man has fed at least 10 generations of raccoons, amazing
Raccoons can actually live up to about 10-15 years, but in the wild their lifespan is usually between 1-5 because it's rough out there.
@SS Pigeon that's the same reason they're so plump! Raccoons as we normally see them are actually underweight. But when they're domesticated and fed regularly, they're quiet plump.

apparently Kung Fu Rabbit was originally a Chinese film called "Legend of a Rabbit" and it was apparently supposed to be a more authentically Chinese recreation of Kung Fu Panda that went terribly wrong. It also had a sequel in 2015 called "Legend of a Rabbit: the Martial of Fire" which is apparently actually really good. It was even nominated for a golden rooster (mainland china equivalent of an academy award) for best animated picture. there's also a third film announced in 2017.

Yeah raccoon guy's wife fed them for 25 years and he's carrying on with the tradition in her honor. That's a cute story. He's a retired mountie and now he feeds the racoons and sometimes the mothers drop off their babies when they go to hunt. He literally babysits the little raccoons. 🥰 So cute!

4:17 our dog has treats that she really loves and she'll do this, BUT she gets so excited that before she can settle down and eat it, she has to go around the house and show it off to everyone that's home. When she does, whoever sees her will say, "Did you get a stick?!" in the baby voice we all use with dogs (the treats are stick-like) so you'll randomly hear that from different parts of the house when she gets one. Once she's gotten enough responses to satisfy her, she'll go eat it somewhere private.

I remember hearing a story about someone who was sleeping in a hammock in the woods at night and they felt something patting them on the butt while they were sleeping, and it was a raccoon.
I actually believe that because one time I woke up to my cat repeatedly hitting me in the face.
One of my mom’s friends was sleeping outdoors on a hammock and something soft started rubbing up to her and she thought it was her cat so she started petting it and it was a raccoon.

Just wanna say if you havent seen the Raccoon Whisperer before: the raccoons aren't unhealthy and obese at the minute, they're putting on extra weight for the winter since it's harder to get food in the shorter days. They'll shed it after the winter and return to a lighter weight. It's completely normal and healthy and please don't hate on The Raccoon Whisperer for helping these guys out in winter

@@shadowcultist they ain't friendly when you stop feeding them. And that's why it's a problem. Not everyone wants to or is able to feed random racoons on a daily basis. Also I thought it was commom sense that you should not make wild animals depend on humans

Wasn't that a scene from the old Wilderness Family movie? The family moves into a cabin and are immediately harassed by a bear that turns out the previous owner raised from a cub on table food. They give him cookies to make him happy and he just...hangs around...for the rest of the movie.
Well, they only really show up before it gets too cold in the Winter. Then, some of them will come back the following year to repeat the process. Sometimes, the raccoons might bring their kids or leave the kids there while they go find a new place to live. So, that's why there's a 'new cast' of raccoons every so often.
So, if he stopped feeding them, they'll eventually treat his home like they would any other home in the area.
