- Hello, am I beautiful people? Well it’s national thrift day which had been every year since 2004 and the strange thing about it I went out and nobody knew about this…. so I don’t know how national it is I felt a little bit disappointing because I was hoping to get some deals some coupons some reason to go do this. Not that I need a reason to go Thrifting but with that said definitely was not what it was cracked up to be.
Don’t think I’ll be doing that next year .
I had a nice time. Either way loves everybody.

Your garden really looks amazingly beautiful, mine doesn’t look too good as I hurt my shoulder and can’t do much and all my husband does is water it…

Oh, I wasn’t aware either. It’s been going on since 2004 , be 100% honest, the stores didn’t even seem to know because there was no specials or deals or anything like that … I don’t think it was a big deal at all. I was excited for it.

Hi Mama Brooke, hope all is well. For us here is labor day weekend the last summer holiday. l agree that time is going really fast. Here at home ( Southern Cali) the home depot as of the weekend already has a full spooky display for halloween! The parents taking the kids to see the display!!

Yeah your donation has to be in a plastic bag just so they can rip it open and toss it 😂 So silly. I have a friend that was told her donation wasn’t enough to get the coupon so she took her stuff back out of the bin and they tried to say she couldn’t take it back out once it was in 😮 come on VV! Lol Love your thrift trips ❤
No sense at all plastic bags but everything‘s double wrapped up. I am so done you don’t even know it just upsets me so much they worry about a straw but yet they have plastic containers plastic all the restaurants with Styrofoam and plastic I could go on and on, but nobody’s listening.🤷🏼♀️
@@mamabrooke totally agree! They banned plastic bags in stores here so everyone has to buy the re-useable ones but they seem to be much worse than the regular plastic bags 🤷🏻♀️ Ridiculous.
hundred percent agree. The whole thing is just messed up and you’re paying a dollar for those other bags and you buy one every time you go.

watermelon salad sounded awfully tempting, I am going to try that :) Love seeing your plants and garden looking so good. Morning glories are real fun, they really get around. I am thinking about planting some myself next Spring. A white one just came up in my garden a number of years ago, while I said oooo beautiful, next thing it had wound itself up and around the rose bushes and anything else it could find and was nearly covering the back garden. I spent that summer trying to pull it off of everything, finally I got rid of it all the following year. But I hear the colored ones aren't so bad. I just have to plant them in the right places :)

A good thrift day for you! The jacket is pretty. I went Friday and found a few nice things. I found a jacket too! Fits me perfect. $4.99! I'm cleaning out and purging. Im finding so many things I can live without even though I once loved them. I'd rather someone else enjoy them instead of sitting on a box.

Your thrift shops are so nicely organized. Here in Houston the nick nacks and cups and dishes are on top of the clothes racks and hard to see. It would be nice if we had dedicated shelves for dishes and other things. Thanks for sharing your time with us

Mama Brooke I have a question. Do you have any insight on whether using that baking soda on my Staub pot to clean it and get it back in shape? I don’t use it much because it’s so heavy but I would like it to look nice again.

My idea of National Thrift Day is when Everything Is 50% Off Day. 😂 I just bought an absolutely gorgeous genuine oil painting (a HUGE landscape of cypress trees with egrets) for $100, originally $200. We hung it last night and it transformed the entire room. Due to ever-rising inflation, thrift stores are getting more expensive here in Florida, but quite frankly real estate is expensive here, so I understand it. Like you, I have a weakness for those ornate decorative wall shelves! I bought a gorgeous gold plaster one, fairly large, for a whopping $1. It was a new thrift store I discovered where everything in it was only $1. I have to find a niche for it, lol. I always look at the lamps, too. You never know what you’ll find! I once found an unusual Gone With The Wind lamp in mint condition for $20. It wasn’t antique, but from the 1960s. My fiancé didn’t like it (we jokingly called it The Alien) but I sold it for $350. 😂. Granted, it took more than a year to sell, but I told Jon that I can’t buy stuff based only on what WE like, but I have to take into account differing tastes. 😂 Thanks for taking us along on your fun thrift day; I hope you will give us a demonstration of how to use your cast iron press. I have never seen one of those. Oh, and Jon would be coveting your French press; the glass in his just cracked and he is shopping for a new one. 😊
