Thanks for the detailed breakdown of improving dialogue quality in Premiere Pro, these key takeaways are extremely helpful for fine-tuning audio in post-production! 👌
Probably the most helpful and easiest audio fix I've come across. Every other video has you running through so many hoops just to get to this level of audio correction. Great job!
I never realized how much I could do with premier and audio! At first I thought I captured bad audio, but I now realize that I just needed to fix a couple of things to make it great! Thanks!
OMG!!!! There is no comparison, I even saved some crappy dialogue badly recorded. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I always felt so intimidated by dialogue mixing, a revelation really!
Complete honesty- I like the original better, just a little quiet (but easily fixable). Everyone has different tastes and mine is simply not your EQ and compression choices. Thank you for showing how it's done though, because now I can go and create a combination that I like. Really do appreciate the effort 👍
I have found going onto the Audio Workspace--click dialogue on the right and set to "Balanced Male Voice" or "Clean Background Voice" seems to do pretty much the same with basically one click!
That's really helpful! I was always having trouble with my editing cuz there are 8 and more people talking over each other and everyone has a different mic quality. Now they're at the same wavelength and easy to understand and distinguish. Thank you!
@@MikeRussell Thanks for the tip, though sadly I won't be able to apply it. I diverge my mic track, system sounds track, and discord (where 8 other people are) track. So, all 8 people end up on one track anyway. Though I might try it for podcasts!
have only just started watching, but it would be great if the first tip was 'remove background noise' as thats the main problem I have with my audio. I recommend when doing RUclips tutorials, start with the worst possible (within reason) starting footage so that the viewer - whatever their problem is - can find identify the help they need for their problem
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your suggestion and will make sure to prioritize addressing background noise removal in future tutorials so viewers can tackle their audio issues right from the start.
Thank you for the video, Mike. I don't know whether I apply too much post-processing, but I use the compressor, noise gate, and expander in OBS, and then add a few simple effects in PP: denoise, deEsser, EQ, and mastering, that's pretty much where 'I'm at' so far.
Thats great thank you so much. I must be doing something wrong though, cause after I made the changes you recommend, when I go back to editing the audio changes are not saved! So I can start all over again. Could you tell me what I am forgetting?
The effects you add should remain if you've followed the steps. Perhaps join our community where you can share screenshots or videos so we can see what step(s) you're missing out? community.musicradiocreative.com/
Hi Mike. I wonder if you gonna read this old podcast comments of yours but I really would like to know what is the microphone you are using in this tutorial there in the right corner as you speak. I love the deep tone and low freqvensies of this one. That is what I would like to get to my new Blue Marble News Watch channel. I am using some taped old usb headset that sounds terrible :)
Great tutorial but on the last part whenever I change the compressor and the other settings and play the audio. everything goes back to normal. Why does that happen?
Hey@@MikeRussell , Just revisiting this after a few months. Using this tutorial and a couple of your others I've been able to grow my instagram by 18K. Proof of concept!
Do you use dynamics/autogate to get rid of annoying breaths or just use it every once in a while? I think it's natural to keep a few breaths when talking
How is your mic connnected to your computer? Under the preferences menu you want to ensure that under Audio Channel mapping your mic is set to both left and right channels. At the moment it's likely that your mic is on one channel and another input on the other channel.
Is there a way to save these sound adjustments as presets in Premiere, so I can use it for all the dialogues in different project files? Thanks for the tips!
Can you demonstrate how to use the De-esher filter in audition to remove harsh (SH) sounds in words like: she, should, invitation (tion), much (ch), change (ch)?
Mike with out getting to emotional you surely saved me tonight. Been working all night on a TV commercail and the audio was not cutting and it was a bummer. Landed on your videos and a happy relieved man. That is gold. THANK YOU. Looking further to studying with you and you channel more.
An issue I'm having is that I have several audio tracks (all of the same audio). Should I apply these settings to all of the tracks? I can't see any clear way of copying them over, even when I try to paste attributes

I didn't know I could do all this from Premiere. This will save me some time.
That's great to hear!

Wonderful to hear this!
This was exactly the problem I had. My sound was so thin and I wasn't sure why. Thanks for the simple video explanation
👍
Amazing tutorial. It's surprising how much one can learn despite the years spent on Premiere 😄

You're welcome. EQ and compresison is a personal choice, every VO artist or producer will probably add their own take. Glad the video has helped
Thank you so much, I’ve been looking all over RUclips for the right video. Now I can start pumping out video with confidence.
👌
This was the only video I needed to finish the audio on my interview commercial I shot for a fitness company thanks so much!
👍
It works with audio from 90's too. This is awesome.
👌
the compression and eq on your voiceover for this video sounds outrageously aggressive
It's kind of difficult to listen to, it sounds like the typical "over the top" improvement.
Dude could you edit me a 60 sec dialogue audio
@realmasculine8891 How old are you?🤣🤣 what s so good about having authority?

Hi, just a hint for you, if possible record everyone on a separate track so you can EQ and process each voice individually.

Glad to have helped

A note for anyone using the latest 2021 prem. pro. Be sure to select TRACK MIXER at the top. Mine defaulted to CLIP MIXER, which is different.
👌
Great tutorial but on the last part whenever I change the compressor and the other settings and play the audio. everything goes back to normal. Why does that happen?
This was super helpful! Is there a way to save this as a preset directly from Audio Track Mixer?
You can save your preset by selecting the audio effects you've added and right click > save preset
This helped even a Zoom recorded interview sound way better, thank you!
👌

thank you for the tutorial, when you export, is there a setting that needs to be checked on? it sounds little bit different after the render @____@
Make sure to check your audio settings and choose a high quality format to maintain the audio quality after render.

Yes, you can save presets in Premiere Pro 👍

Lovely, thank you!

Thanks, really helpful

Great tutorial. If I have several individual clips, same person same mic, etc. do I need to edit each clip individually?
You’d want to create a track effect rather than a clip effect. You can do this from the audio track mixer
For some reason, that little arrow to open the Effects and Sends isn't there for me.. Anyone know why?
Go to Audio tab. Look at the top of your screen. Not sure if that's the reason why but lemme know
@@OkronosO Figured it out! I was in the audio clip mixer instead of the audio track mixer :)
SUPERB. Thanks A Ton. Anyways. Is There A Way To Save This Into A Preset?
You can create presets in Premiere Pro 👍
Your audio sounds super sharp...
Thank you
An issue I'm having is that I have several audio tracks (all of the same audio). Should I apply these settings to all of the tracks? I can't see any clear way of copying them over, even when I try to paste attributes
You should be able to export all as a preset. I'll endeavour to make a video about this!
Thanks! Super helpful :)
