  • The goal of this guide is to help ease new/beginner players into trying out security cadet for the first time. Knowing how to actually mechanically act as a security officer will be a big help to approaching the department as a whole. Basically just a starter guide.
    While this info doesn't technically apply to LRP servers, it is still good info to know.

    When you're feeling up for trying out security, please give Vulture security a shot. The people that often play security there are very helpful and would love to teach you. Keep an eye out for Cray Malinn, he often plays Head of Security and teaches cadets probably everyday.

      I also like to teach new security cadets on Vulture
      I go by Amos Baker, I'm usually either Detective or just a Security Officer, and I like to think my teaching methods are more "grounded" and direct than most.
      So if any of you see me either, ask for training or just to patrol with me if you need it.

      I dont play Vulture but I've had some experience as security on both Leviathan and Lizard. I do NOT recommend playing it on those servers unless you have the utmost confidence that you're robust enough. Yeah, just play Vulture for an easier time getting into security..

    In my time of playing, department difficulty for learning and just sheer intimidation of wanting to learn that roll from highest to lowest is as followed:
    - Medical: Every damn round they WILL be swamped. Your department is just a massive target every round. Chem masters have my utmost respect. learning meds to memory needs a lot of time.
    - Captain/ HoP: Just the massive list of thing and people you need to deal with is borderline insane even for Rp standards.
    - Engineer: Learning start up and basic building can be daunting at first but is super chill for the most part... until it isn't then your one of most over worked departments. You will always be blamed for tesla and singulooses.
    - Security: The station will go from 0 to 100 real fast and you'll be in the center of hell itself. Even when you save the station you'll probably be treated like your a tyrant the next round.
    - Science: Artifacts will kill you at times but the learning process is super simple and if you mess up it is not unfixable (Looking at you engis)
    - Cargo: Trading and learning to fly looks daunting but its you learn it within your first 10 minutes honestly. salv is harder but the hardest part is learning what is and isn't worth grabbing.
    - Service: You are here for Rp but have some minor responsibility. Chef is insane to learn and I still dread getting it. Botany can be rough at first but you learn after a few rounds.
    -Passenger: Use this role to learn the basics of SS14 and to learn more about the server's regulars and culture. You have 0 responsibilities and people will ALWAYS keep an eye on you.

      Medical all depends on your co-workers.
      If your feeling swamped it's probably becauss two or more people don't know what there doing.
      Security gets the worse of it imo they gotta deal with every single antag and are often the first target on the station.
      It's always pure chaos

    Sec is so funny.
    For 4 rounds nukes appeared, so the captain on the 5th round was panicky as he'll and immediately armed the sec cadets with guns. I was one of those cadets.
    This did not go well for a specific dwarf.
    I slip by my own mistake, a dwarf pick up my disabled. Not a word passes anyone's lips, the dwarf was filled with lead.
    I drag him to medway, and tell the cadet "You cant just shoot someone for picking up a disabler, I slipped on my own mistake, why did you execute him"
    This happened 3 more times, to the SAME dwarf. He tried to challenge the unarmed dwarf to a fricking duel?? There are confirmed NO NUKIES this round. He keeps using the excuse "but captain said be prepared" like it wasn't even a reason to call admin, the dwarf was revived every time.
    It was just so beyond unreal i couldn't stop laughing.

    When i see any cadet i ask them if they know what they doing, if they are new i drop what im doing and teach them all i know, new people usually just walk around the departament doing very little and in my experience they usually dont ask for help so i recomend being proactive.

    • @_Jay_Maker_
      @_Jay_Maker_ 18 дней назад

      This is a _big deal_ in any Department, really. This game is extremely intimidating if you're not already outgoing and you'd be surprised how easy it is for people to just _literally talk_ if you're willing to be proactive in getting them started and set up. Once they feel confident, it's honestly impressive how well many new players end up performing.

  • @graded6553

    1:45 I disagree with this. I feel like having your prints on evidence is way more valuable then black fibers. Black gloves are very common and can be obtained by anyone. A smart criminal might just put on black gloves and then leave the detective with no evidence as the officer who brought in evidence was also wearing black gloves.

    • @murmeoh
      @murmeoh 28 дней назад

      i still never really understood WHY wearing gloves is so important. the most ive heard is that lawyers might argue that the evidence is planted if security has fingerprints on the evidence

    • @shroomer3867
      @shroomer3867 17 дней назад

      @@murmeoh It's mostly RP related stuff, if I'm a good detective I just scan against security, place a note linking each prints to their respective names and position and then grab the suspect.
      If the lawyer says the evidence was planted, I just say that Nanostren Officers are issued with top of the line mindsheild devices, screened before entering the station and are the best of the best at what they do, they would not have access to smuggle or produce contraband under any circumstances.
      Of course in real life cops are really careful with evidence and when they aren't people like OJ Simpson get scott free but you can bend the rules a bit in game if you type fast enough...

      you can learn about most plant mutations trough the Guidebook, in the Chemicals section, just keep an eye out for them in the Sources section of each chemical
      the two plants you won’t find there (might be a few more, cant remember) will be Steelcaps (mutated Towercaps) and Killer tomatoes (mutated Blood tomatoes)

    usually when ive tried to play security, it goes like this
    - someones doing something obviously not good, just being annoying
    - try to calming assess the situation and let me search them, ask then to stop tryin to fight eachother in fist fights or whatever
    - they refuse, of course
    - then either i stun them all fine and get called shitsec for "abusing baton for no reason" even though they refuse several times, or i get shot while im in the middle of typing and get no chance to fight back
    tbh, the main part of sec im confused about si when is it apropriate to elaborate the situation, cause i feel like ive always got it wrong, or maybe people jump to "shit sec" way to fast lol
