- Note, this guide doesn't feature the TEG. The TEG more or less requires atmos techs and is a much more advanced engine than anything a new player is expected to know.
0:00 Introduction
0:40 AME Setup
2:46 Singularity Setup
7:41 Wires, and Electrical Devices
10:40 Fixing Spacing/Wire Damage
17:05 Solars

now we need atmos guide so atmosians can start fixing atmospheric issues rather than spend all round mixing frezon or making maxcaps
If they know that, they know how to fix atmospheric issues, trust me, doing those is harder than filling up a room with air. If any atmos who's doing frezon or maxcaps tells you they can't fix air issues they are most likely lying to you.
Tip 1. Space it. This concludes my Ted talk. Haha
@@romulo2714 From what I've seen whenever I play engi, barely any atmosians ever deals with atmos issues. I play nothing but engi, and from what I have seen so far, not THAT many know how to use air alarms appropriately; All they know is copy the frezon setup from the last guy. Atmos mains know, but atmos mains don't play all the time. Otherwise people just space the place which isn't always the best solution...!!
Bois out there in the tritium fields.
Hellll yes. After giving up on ss13 due to the engine + lag these videos have managed to get me to put another 10+ hours into SS14 already.
See ya after another 500hr soon❤🎉
I know absolutely everything about engi, but I still want to watch this, because I like you and I like engis.
Glory to the engineering department!
So true haha
Engineering is such a nice thing to know, it comes in very handy to be able to shape your surroundings regardless of job
Engi guide condensed for time: fix literally everything at all times and be yelled at every time power goes out for even a second.
An IPC medic told me during a shift yesterday that we should always curse the Engineers, since IPCs need energy.
I was an IPC lawyer, but didn't have the chance to sue the Engineering department :(
LET'S GOOOOO, UPDATED GUIDE TIME!
18:06, You don't need to remove the catwalk to check the voltage being generated. If you have the multitool in your hand and right click on the HV wire you get the same result without destroying the catwalk.
Pretty sure it is a bug tho, so don't expect it to stick around.
@@rompevuevitos222 Are you sure? To me this makes sense because you can also lay down cables under catwalks, and you can see them, so why wouldn't you be able to probe them with a multitool?
@@SuperDicq Catwalks don't fully count as tiles for some reason. They are more like furniture.
You also can't interact with wires that are covered otherwise. The only reason you can probe them is because T-Rays make covered cables visible, and visibility is all that's needed to examine an object.
And since the probe action is accessible from the examine menu...
Normally you're meant to click on the cable with the multi tool to check the power usage, but you can't do so while it is covered, the game simply doesn't allow you to do so.
oh HELL YEAH. this is an excellent compilation of great info, another banger lilten
Also remidner: you can initiate a project to modify the station with CE's permission
Or just at your whim if no one cares enough to tell you otherwise.
Swag swag swag. I started playing engineering some days ago, it’s been going really swift, and this video is very informative! Thanks Lilten : P
Thank you so much for this guide
Good idea simplifying the cable stuff, makes it easier to understand than looking at the stations messy wire systems.
So a LV wire can power anything that's one block away? Not just what is on top of it?
Yes they have a two or three tile range
@@Liltenhead wow thanks. I never knew that!
I've tried engi before and it is interesting how there really isn't much to do till someone blows something up, I try to be a bit proactive and make as many solars as I can just in case someone decides to pump the AME till it blows
If you got down time, search maints for generators and try setting them up for departments. I know Chem LOVES having the plasma genny.
I probably have 20 hours as a CE and I never knew how to snip the power of doors I just got other engine to do I 😢. I was good with everything else tho
How do you empty/replace the plasma tanks in the singulo energy collectors? Eventually all the plasma converts to trit and needs to be emptied and replaced with plasma again. I cant find new handheld tanks nor figure out how to empty the current ones
is there a wy to hotwire Solara in ss14? I know if you connect Solara straight to grid it would hotwire the grid
How long would smeses work if they had bluespace capacitors.
Also just a warning, syndicate like to murder engineers out on solars.
i just found out you are a ss14 gamedev. damn i also just realized this is not ss13 xD
*enslaves cargo's salvages and whole engi dep tobspam RTG over all AME room
Most interactions i have with engies are: CAN YOU GUYS FIX THE FUCKING POWER PLEASE?
After grey tide: *Matt Fourhound is stealing your insulated gloves*
I like this guide but I think it’s be better if you went into more detail for the actual construction of the singularity, for example, showing the construction following the instructions using the tools to completion. That’s improve this pretty good guide.
I have separate videos for things like that. I didn't want to make one video hours long.
I love playing engi and making doomsday bunkers.
I forgot hoe to make a secret wall, how do I do that?
I use engi for the suits and tools, until epi explodes I just wander asking if anyone needs help
Isn't there a generator that runs on welder fuel too? Feels like I've seen one before but I might be misremembering.
There is but it's usage is really limited
@@Liltenhead
How come? It seems to me it would be the most useful because welder fuel is just about in big tanks everywhere without needing to go through mining.
@@Graknorke It can't be placed on HV wires and it generates little power, I think the most I did with it was re-power sci on cluster, barely.
ah engineering in ss14, fucking one of my more memoried games was me spending part of it just learning how the fuck i make a microwave! XD results was lovly and i had some fun, that game just learning how the crap i did something as the rest of the station went up in klang holy matramony of a mess. i also i tinhk made a delivery to cheif, another job i did at one point. but after that engi shieft or 2 i went to salvage gang and GOD was that lovly to od. we even got cargo to give us a gyro so we could control ficle thing or as we lovlingly named it, the shittle because it was mostly a platform of construct no o2 or anything but i would LOVE to have fun with that so maybe i will do a round use this to help remember engineering basics and go make a shittle 2.0
yet there will still be funny grates that are Live wired
Never walk blindly in maint
Super Saiyan levels are getting out of hand.
Great, now i can quit my engineering college
Slightly off topic but I started playing this game like a month and a half ago and already have like 200 hours in medical, so I've been joking with my friends that if I put that much time and dedication into learning irl medical I'd already be a doctor lol
