Born 1950, and now in hindsight, it was better, no social media telling you how shit the world is, no kids being stabbed almost every day, no mugging, scammers, pedos and general lack of respect for other people, it was a more social time, and relaxed, people weren't all about material things but rather just enjoying their more simple lives, for me, music was also better, as proved by music of my times still being popular, Sabbath, ELO, Supertramp and many more, I miss those times. 🤗👍

Definitely rose tinted , it’s because of social media and 24/7 news we now hear about it all, it was as rife then if not more so as it’s now policed more intensely

@@DMAEmmeryJohn not rose tinted, rather how lucky I was for it not intruding or being part of my life, if I look back in hindsight I see his things were different, but that doesn't affect my lifestyle then, sorry to have had such wonderful memories of life of then, yours was obviously not as good, or are you looking at it with the knowledge of today???

Good Evening Gentlemen. I really loved this video of looking back and and having a Good Remenissing of Times gone by. My Childhood was a really Good one with my very Loving Mum and Dad, who i miss, so, so much. Television programs where so much better then. None of this Stupid PC rubbish. Back then in the 1970's and 1980's two of the Best era's of my Life. The music, The Fashion, Playing by our local river, swinging over the river on a made rope swing. Going on very long bike rides. Sweets and Chocolate Bar were much better and a lot bigger back then. I really did use to love watching Crackajack, Play School, Magpie, Blue Peter, Thunder Birds, Captain Scarlet, Jo 90, those were Great television programs. What has happened to Television today?? The Inter Net has completely Destroyed any last bit of Nostalgia today. Technology has taken over the World as we know it. But, I still say You never forget Your roots. They made You. I always Will remember my Beautiful and Caring Mum and Dad. Thank you for listen to my memories of Nostalgia. Big Respect to You Lee and Dave my Friends.

Honey Puffs, if you've got a Mr Simms traditional sweet shop you can get all those old sweets. It was easier to shop back in the day, go round the supermarket, pick up what you wanted, go to the greengrocer, butcher, fishmonger and pay in cash. Go to the electric or gas board shop and choose your new oven, fridge, tv etc. Try out beds, sofas etc. Have a catalogue for your clothes etc. No apps, mobiles, computers. I sound like a little old lady, I am, lol.

Lee this was great !! I’m 55 and in a little over a month away from 56. I grew up a few miles west of where you lived in Hoboken and still live there ( Paterson ) watching this brought back a lot of memories, all the Tv shows like Cannon , Rockford Files , The Equalizer that I watched with my father in the 70’s & the 80’s. Tv just ain’t the same anymore , only one good comedy on Tv and that’s Young Sheldon , it’s all talent shows and reality crap. In the last 20 plus yrs there’s only been maybe 5-6 good Tv shows on like Two and a Half Men , The Big Bang Theory and it’s spin off Young Sheldon , Mom and couple of others. The 80’s for me were a blast , high school ( 82-86 ) house parties , weekend camping and sitting around a fire eating & drinking beer with friends or your girlfriend. The 90’s were pretty good also , got a good job and made great money and then the 2000’s came and it all went to hell , pc this pc that. I still live in the house I grew up in , lost my father in Jan 2020 & Mom in Sept of 21. I sit here sometimes and wish I could go back in time to the late 70’s , when I’d get up in the morning, grab a bowl of cereal and go out the back door into the back yard and grab my BMX and hear my mother yell to me from the back door you better be home for dinner. I miss those times !! What I wouldn’t give to be able to go back and relive them days.

Hi Lee in the late 70s when I used to visit Sunny Southport, every Wednesday evening at The Floral Hall was professional wrestling I remember the haystacks fellow, but my favorite was the wrestler with the black mask lol, then I would run to my grandmothers house to watch the ITV( Granada)replay, a condensed version on what I just watched, tried to see myself in the crowd lol. Did you set up the EV ride from Perth to Alice Springs yet? Can’t wait for the Australia vlogs take care

Good to see your mate JB or is he Dave, wearing the Man of Men badge support for Prostate Cancer. 1 in 8 men have this cancer at some point so it is really important that we support Prostate cancer UK. I hope the treatment went well and things are getting better now. Well done for wearing the badge, I wear mine, and it is not just for men that have had the cancer, it signifies support for those that have had it, and those that may get it. Research costs money. By the way talking nostalgia, the treatment wasn't available back then, so many of us would be dead, and not watching your vlog.

What a fabulous video Lee. You 2 should be a double act. As someone who remembers the 70s and 80s it was definitely much better then. Everything was simpler without social media and today's ridiculous politicians. I remember space hoppers and monopoly. On TV there was Skippy the bush kangaroo, Daktari, Trumpton, Camberwick Green, The Herbs and Hector's House. I remember so much that was great as opposed to the rubbish TV now. Safe trip to Oz Lee. 😀

Going through the school system in the 70's was character building. The 70's was a less tolerant time. I learnt to defend myself and to have a sense of humour. Given the choice of living in todays society or back then. I'd give up the PlayStation's, Xboxes, Steam Decks, iPhones and all todays luxuries in a heartbeat. I'd walk barefoot through broken glass to be back in the 70's. I'd still have my mum, my dad and my sister. Let alone friends gone too soon. There would be no phone in my hand to distract me. I'd sit and listen to their conversations. I'd slow down and not always be in a rush. I have fond memories of Saturday's morning's. My mum would bring me back a comic after she had been shopping. Either the Beano, The Dandy, Buster, The Whizzer and Chips or the Topper and later on 2000 AD. I'd love getting a Palitoy Action Man with eagle eyes for Christmas or on your birthday. In Wythenshawe, where im from, all the shopping parades were knocked down. Sweet shops, independent sport shops, butchers, bakeries, fishing tackle, clothes, car parts shops, replaced with a single shop or three shops at best if you were lucky. NSS newsagent's, sold corgi cars and dinky toys before that. The stacks of annuals that were for sale at Christmas. I remember watching Airwolf, Street Hawk, The A team, Knightrider and the short lived Automan through the 80's. Watching That's life on a Sunday night before school the next day. Playing Match day on the Spectrum 48k or The Last Ninja on the Commodore 64. The only electric car I lusted after then was a Tamiya Hornet remote control car 😊
The whole street had a party for the marriage of Charles and Diana. We were given a Charles and Diana coin and cup, to commemorate the day in junior school. The only thing I don't miss was the little bottle of milk you got in school. I hate drinking milk to this day lol.
Back then for me, was happier times, filled with fond memories. It wasn't all great but neither is today.

I notice many Brits back in the 1970s liked American television. I remember my favorite show when I was young, was the Thunderbirds!! Gerry Anderson, brilliant stuff, the British did better shows than the US did then!
