    Interesting video. The RTH will kick in sooner if the drone is further away from the home point. I think it depends on how far away the drone is.
    You mentioned having to see the orientation of the drone… although the CAA say you should be able to see this.. but it’s not actually law. The legislation doesn’t specify orientation (yet) 👍

    Thanks for that Nobby. 30% is my minimums these days after I almost ran out of battery once in a very dodgy take-off/landing area (below trees beside a wide river). Interesting comment on metric vs imperial and when I think about it I like imperial for height and MPH but metric for distance.

    Maybe the battery getting older is causing the feel of earlier RTH call, also have to keep in mind if you're more far away its going to estimate battery consumption to get back home what means earlier RTH. IF theres software based adjustment, it might be percentual add to RTH call so no drone would be left behind because wind conditions might drain your battery earlier than expected.

    Thanks for the video. I would assume that DJI bring incredibly clever, the drone/RC works out when to initiate RTH based on the distance and height that the drone is away to ensure it has enough battery to reach the home point. If you simply fly the drone 20ft up and 50ft away I imagine the RTH will initiate with less battery remaining compared to if you fly the drone 300ft hight and 1000ft away from the home point. I will try this test out this week, weather permitting.

    • @olabergvall3154
      @olabergvall3154 3 месяца назад

      Yes precisely, all dji drones do exactly this since the Phantoms. In the old dji Go4 interface, it was a bar at the top very clearly indicating the green zone chasing down to the orange, then red, depending on distance from home point and battery level. In today's app, it's the same really, but only displayed as the tiny circle around the battery percentage. Go further out, and the red/orange portion should take up more of the perimeter.

  • @WeretheRoberts
    @WeretheRoberts 3 месяца назад +3

    awesome test, brother.... I can verify the Mini 4 pro and the Mini 2 mimics what your results on the Mini 3 pro were.... At 20%, the drone initiates the RTH. I reckon the only reason it would initiate it earlier than that is if the drone is further away from the homepoint, eh?

    • @nobby-green
      @nobby-green  3 месяца назад +2

      Hey Kevin. Yes i agree, the further you are out the quicker it will initiate. That makes perfect sense, as you know it calculates how long it will take to get back. Keep safe man 🙏

    Regarding the Low Battery 🪫 - RTH Activation. In this test, the drone was in close proximity to home and activated at around 20% charge.
    If you had flown a greater distance from home, would the Low Battery 🪫 - RTH activation have happened with a higher battery 🔋 % so the drone could fly back home and land safely? In other words, Is it smart enough to know how much battery it needs to RTH? Maybe 🤔 I’ve answered my own question?

    Recently I made 6 flights with the Mavic 3 pro and all ended with low level battery warnings. After getting home the batteries showed 14-15% battery left. That looks like 15% of the stated air time of 40 minutes == 6 minutes remaining.
    I wonder what the DJI algorithms contain. In a flight more far away different throttle was used and the battery indicator was "all over the scale".... Flying home using lower power, eventually cutting off recording... Would that give more distance?
