    Everything went smoothly until I dropped one of the screw ends for the wire tap and it fell into the area underneath the battery! Haha with some extra dis-assembly and a second pair of hands we got it back though! Seriously though, those wire tap connectors made this install super easy. It is clear that you guys at TST have thought this stuff through, and the effort you guys put into the instructional videos goes a long way. I am suprised you guys went with the tape method for securing the light. What if someone sells the bike and needs to remove the license plate? If I buy the product I think I am going to attach with velcro or think of something else so it can be removable.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  4 года назад +1

      To achieve a truly universal setup we designed the light the way you see it in our videos. I typically just clamp the light with the license plate and not use the adhesive. I designed that tape in for worry warts but like I said I don't use it in my installations. If you ever go to sell the bike peel it off and the next owner can use the clamp method, or buy some double side tape. I think the velcro will be too thick and will bow out your plate excessively.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  8 лет назад

      You probably want to check with your local DOT about that. I do believe that that the license plate needs to be illuminated with white light. If you are just using a taillight for license illumination you will be throwing red light on it.

      That tape is there for the worrier guys. We never actually use it in our installations, just use the clamp force. What would be the best way to avoid that issue and prevent the cable from burning due to the heat of the exhaust?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  8 месяцев назад

      You can drill a small hole in the battery tray or an additional one in the servo case and route the wires into the bike that way to avoid the exhaust.

    • @fsmanzanares1

      @@TSTindustries my issue isn't routing the cable to the harness it's the bracket and license plate being way to close to the exhaust. I drilled the holes on the case with the template it came with but it would still be too close.

    If you try to do this with a 2021 ninja 400 it's very difficult. I ended up cutting off the plug from the oem plate light and doing this setup with that plug then attaching the plug into the bike's plug. Just make sure you know you're not going to use the oem plate light anymore.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  3 года назад +1

      Is that because of the wonky location of the harness side connector in the subframe? I have found that to be cumbersome as well. There is an option to retract the wires and connectors to the forward compartment under driver seat and make the connection with access there. You seem to have found a good solution though so you're probably all set.

    On the 2022 zx6r, the wires in the harness are too short for the attachments that came with the kit. Is there a way to pull the connector from the oem fender and just wire the plate light into the connector so it just clips in like the oem connection?

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  2 года назад

      Yea you can absolutely do that but I'm surprised that you aren't able to reach the license plate light wires to your connector. With the length of wire that comes on the license plate light you are likely to reach the gas tank routing through the bike, and the stock license light connector is in the subframe area.

      You can just tap in under the seat into the running light circuit of the tail light. That is the easiest method. Connecting int there is in fact better and it doesn't leave an unused/unsealed plug on the swingarm.

      TSTindustries , I bought your hyperpack with Toce exhaust and bracket B in front of tire. I understand you made the light universal but I made one slight modification. I removed the double sided tape you provided on the tag side and I put new double sided tape on the back of the tag light. I fitted the light to the tag, peeled of red covering from the tape I put on the back of the light bracket, lined up the tag and and light to the installed bracket and then bolted on the tag which sandwiched to the bracket and is now taped to the bracket so I can remove my tag and the light is still wired no problem. The lighted is still sandwiched while riding with the tag installed. And, if I sell the bike, I can remove my tag without a light stuck to it. The light will be stuck to the bracket and they can just put on their tag like normal. You may want to sell to versions, one with tape on front of light and one with it in the back and show a video like my install. Just trying to help out and I love all your videos. Great work and excellent quality, very pleased.

      The method is pretty much the same on every bike but the R3 and FZ07 vary a little in the connector their license plate lights use. The FZ07 has a pair of bullet connectors for the license light. The R3 uses a two conductor Sumitomo plug to make that connection on the OEM equipment. My best recommendation for ease of installation is to snip off a bit of the wire along with the OEM connector and connect your license plate light into that section using the Posi connectors we provide in the kit.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  7 лет назад

      For fitment purposes, we highly suggest using the Stealth License Plate Light. Keeping the stock license plate light would require extensive mods with no garuntee of success.

  • @nrojashbc1
    @nrojashbc1 8 лет назад

    the only issue I'm having is the light touches the stock exhaust. so I'm assuming it's going to melt the wire and do damage. but I can't move it anyway to not touch with the stock exhaust. I'm concerned lol

    Is there a way to not have the license plate light run in the day time

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  6 лет назад

      You would have to wire in a switch and remember to turn it on when you want it on. Theoretically a photo sensor can be wired in with a relay to control the light. Turn it on when it's dark and shut it off when it's light out. Why do you want this functionality? The light draws about 100 mA.

    • @ncoryderncoryder9811
      @ncoryderncoryder9811 6 лет назад

      TSTindustries just thought that after a while it would pull too much from the baterry and limit the life of the light. Knowing the info you just gave me I should be good

    How hard would it be for you guys to sell OEM pigtails for tha major manufacturers? Those taps look cheap and compromise the OEM harness. Cutting ruins the OEM part that may ge needed later.

    • @TSTindustries
      @TSTindustries  5 лет назад +1

      It's not hard but requires several additional layers of complication. There is a need for managing stock levels of all the different connectors, researching and making individual SKUs for the lights with different connectors, additional labor to install connectors+quality control the installation+appropriately package and label each kit, and a few more that create the extra work that increases the price of what is meant to be a truly universal, simple, elegant, and affordable kit. It is far more prudent to oblige to a customer's specific need if one like yours arises. Maybe if you email us your needs we can get you a license plate light setup with the appropriate connector for your bike.

    • @TSTindustries

      it wouldn't be a 30A fuse. Mr on the order of 10-15. try the other fuses. Also check your connections. You can't blow the fuse if you wire the light in backwards so you might have touched a harness side positive lead to ground. be careful not to do that on subsequent attempts.

      In our installations we never use the hi-bond tape on the light. That was placed there for those over cautious customers. The clamping force of the license plate is more than adequate for installation. This also makes the light reusable.

      TheCONtwo It is a little early to say but just so you have a ballpark the standard version will be around the cost of our Elite-1 fender eliminator for the R6, and the fully adjustable billet aluminum system will be a little more. We already have a good prototype of our integrated taillight for that bike also. A few things need adjustment and one more prototype iteration but overall we are happy with how it is turning out. We should have that unit on the market late spring or early summer.

Reach out to our Support Team and they can try to help you out if you are open to receiving troubleshooting directions. A quick way to verify the light works is by jumping it directly to your battery. If it powers on, your connection method is bad.
