My personal song of the year 2024 and top3 of nightwish in a second.
When Floor goes into her emotional mode you can sleep outside in the woods of a finnish winter and still be warmed by her voice and feel comfortable.
Much Love from Germany to you and your passionate reactions!

Yeah at this point, I have seen a decent handful of Nightwish songs and this really brought it all home. Like, bases loaded and the star of the team hit a grand slam. Love it. I'm here for it all.

In an interview Floor said she cried when Tuomas played the song to her and told her what the song is about, she also wanted this to be the last video. Tuomas is a mastermind in creating beautiful ballads, I love all of them and he did THE ballad to Floor ❤

This song just touched me from the very first note. I was tearing up, though I didn’t quite know why. At the end I was a mess. So yes, I felt the song very deeply. For me it’s rare to like a ballad, but this one hit hard. I’ve obviously heard this song now numerous times, and it still makes me emotional. This song is simply a masterpiece.

Nice one! As to Tuomas' message that someone's passing shouldn't be abt grief but abt celebrating. Good for him. To me it sounds like a rather cerebral exclusion of a fundamental human reaction to death. Really glad that Floor's heartfelt interpretation evokes & embraces all of the emotions that go with it: grief, sadness, fond memories, nostalgia, acceptance, hope, letting go. Her voice & facial expressions show so much more than mere celebration.

    Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️
Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time.
What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor.
Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad.
My favorite song from the new album followed by An Ocean of Strange Islands.

Great reaction! When listening to this beautiful song I always need tissues.
Gone is the hurt, the wait,
gone is the warmth of day.
A stray boat saved, happy memories engraved,
    on into a velvety night,
    beneath a lanternlight.
Last night brought the heaviest of snows
    melting the songs of old,
tying the boat, write a new one soon,
sending me to the drowning moon,
    far above a lanternlight.
I'm in the light and flood,
    I'm in the four winds,
I am the waves shaping pebbles flawless gems,
I am the snow on your palm.
    I am the secret stream,
    moss beneath your feet,
I am you who climbed off of my back
    not long ago,
a sheltered song in a world now gone,
    petrichor,
    the timeless.
    Turn loose the swaying boat,
    meltwater, sound of spring.
I hear our song now, sung by the free,
    for a thousand more tomorrows
    of an incomplete weave.
    To the meadows I go,
    I’ll be waiting for you
    once upon a lanternlight.
I walk now toward the trees,
    I am the secret stream,
the night falling at my feet
    into the forest of Yesterwynde.

The first time just stopped me. And left me without words. I was overwhelmed, teary eyed and speechless. It was a pause from everyday life, a moment of appreciation. I felt warm and sad and at peace all at the same time. It was an exceptional feeling and awareness of life and death and sorrow and happiness all at the same time. So maybe a feeling of existence in all of it's spectrum. Not a little feeling to be achieved by a song. So a true masterpiece this is. I salute and thank you Nightwish and Mr. Holopainen

This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite.
I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I am the last of the Dorrity line. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the feeling of loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. No small thing to live with intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before, and it just breaks you. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. Floor's gestures in this work are a language unto itself - such love and tenderness, so expressive. I am not ashamed to say that this staggeringly beautiful composition and the meaning behind it makes me want to cry on Floor’s shoulder. I’m sure she would understand. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. It is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.

Nightwish makes even burley hairy men Floorgasm and cry; at the same time❤️‍🔥
This is the most beautiful, soul gripping, heart stringing, fulfilling, masterful celebration for and remembrance of Tuomas’ (anyone’s) father ❤️‍🔥 Tuomas is an absolute musical/lyrical genius!
My father, (the strongest man I know and the cornerstones of my entire being/life) passed on cpl of years ago; on the waining hour of my Birthday. He had truly endured physically and emotionally for over 20 years after multiple strokes and other health challenges. His peaceful passing on was a true blessing; so much so that I had yet to shed one tear; until now!
The combination of Tuomas’ yet another compositional and lyrical masterpiece and its manifestation by Floor and Troy finally opened my floodgates 💦💦😭
No amount of Finnish 🇫🇮 inner strength enhancing, emotion blocking, words (sisu, saatana, perkele) could hold back the desperately needed and necessary outpouring of emotions, reflections, remembrance, appreciation, flashbacks, re-lived joy and eternal love. Genuine tears do have healing powers!
Tuomas, Floor, Nightwish, “Lanternlight” - ❤️‍🔥and thank you to The G.O.A.T. IMHO, there has never been, there will never be, another Nightwish!

Anyone should watch the interview Floor did with the Charismatic Voice. Floor is diagnosed with hyper sensitivity. In the past she might have said she suffered from it, but now she is more balanced, she finds it is her greatest asset. But it does means (often) the first recording of a song only recorded Floor sobbing, the second recording she might get some lyrics out and maybe the third recording will be a good start.

How does her voice have that effect on us?
    Starting deep and low...
This sounds like her solo album,
I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing.
Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song,
the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover.
Mmm, the warmth of her voice.
“Last night brought the heaviest of snows”
That sad piano about to sink below the ice.
    “Melting the songs of old”
Reminiscences, love of the souls that have gone before.
Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father.
    The pocket watch to wind...
The old style film projector, a “Magic Lantern”.
The old flickering movies, like memories.
    Floor soaring away.
Celebration of their lives, rather than mourning.
Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references?
“I am the snow on your palm” [Storytime?]
The way she uses her hands...
“I am the secret stream” [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness?]
“Moss beneath your feet” [My Walden?]
“I am you who climbed off of my back” [Our Decades in the Sun?]
“Petrichor” (with a hint of green) [The smell of fresh rain on grass, Last Ride Of The Day, Song of Myself?]
“Timeless” (with a hint of a smile) [Perfume of the Timeless?]
“To the meadows I go” [Meadows of Heaven?]
Then Troy drifts in, up close, with his soft voice, Floors voice in the distance.
He made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :)
Pope Leo Xlll, who served until his death in 1903 at the age of 93.

There are some bands that can match Nightwish, in certain styles of songs? There are NO bands that can get near the range of types and genres of music Nightwish can produce to such a ridiculous level. That is what sets Nightwish apart. A week before this, one of the most beautiful ballads ever released we had An Ocean of Strange Islands, one of the best metal songs. Its like putting Master Passion Greed alongside Meadows of Heaven and trying to explain to a new listener...no, its the same band, same album...

In all honesty, I did not feel sadness per se, upon my initial listen...more a "slightly disturbed, reflective, melancholy" - slightly disturbed in that upon the first few listens it has some musical changes that seemed somewhat disjointed (knowing Tuomas' music, this was probably purposeful give the nature of greif). I have now heard this song probably 20 times and my familiarity has lessened the "disjointed" impression, although I still get a slight sense of it. Having said that, this is a beautiful song, that I really enjoy. Cheers!
