This is confusing enough without adding in Sting, the founding member of The Police, isn't actually in the police. At least every move he makes and every breath he takes, Jon will be watching him.
Ok, this is a **very** compelling game. Nicely complex without being *too* complex.
Some excellent deductions by the way, Detective Jon 😁
Detective Jon is an egg cart who knows how to break some eggs.
@@maccurtis730 And a detective because he was bad at egg carting.
Detective Jon discovered what happened to the eggs and sent some peanut butter eggs to the chickens he was not going to eat them.
What a delightful, little game. The logistics of creating such a game is very fascinating.
The premise feels similar to the film "Source Code". Where the main character relives the last 8 minutes of someone killed in a train bombing so they can catch the terrorist.
Sort of killed. If I remember correctly, he prevented the train bombing in his insular alternate coma reality and then after they turned off the thing that was keeping his brain alive, he continued living on alternate earth.
I don't know what their specific intent was except to be like "what's more real; real reality or brain living in a box on life support reality oooOooOooOoOoOooO...spooky. If you prevent your own murder in the woods and no one is around to see it; did it ever even happen? OooooOoOooOòooOooo"
...however it seems like the whole thing ends up just being like "machine theory...now you fill in the gaps." Because the only way he could continue on in alternate life after they unplugged his brain would be that they were all just different layers of the unreal reality onion.
...the Matrix is like ogres. And what do ogres have? Layers. Welcome to the layer cake.
It's a good movie
It's a very good movie and one I keep forgetting the name, thank you for making me remember it ❤
Dwight has the most serial killer voice he was obviously Raven
I love all these underrated gems you cover. Thanks for sharing!
I enjoyed you detectiving! Would be happy to see more
It was amazing to see you find this game! I got it a few years ago and only return to it when I forget enough details lol. I'd love to see you play more of it, particularly to see you lose your mind trying to track and figure out the DLC crime
I would love to see you play this more cause I love seeing you play these kinds of games.
Have you tried Infra? I think you might like it, many secrets to find, urbex like setting in I want to say Finland or Sweden. Find the secrets to reveal the storyline and pretty creepy with some jumpscare moments. Your job is to assess the damages on infrastructure buildings, but there’s alot going on in this game ;) Claire might like it too.
Anyway, love ur sreams together, mad funny
This was a cool watch. I love the fact you've got to compile a case based on just things being spoken, rather than having to try and find 100 different types of clues. Elegantly simple concept and yet complex enough to piece together the story (crime).
18:32, I was thinking the bomb was in Kint. He says "leg feels heavier than usual" and it sounds like something different. Me leg with the bomb inside it.
Edit: so yes, I figured that out well before Jon
I thought the same, and i guessed it was a prosthetic leg when the usual sound happened because there was a drawing of one on the main menu
Who is Kaiser Soze?
What I found suspicious right out the gate where Dwights movements. So I thought to myself, he'd probably be Raven, by then MATN hadn't even yet listened to Martin and the other guy... funny to see my instincts there were correct (probably wouldn't have held up due to lack of proper evidence, but the mannerisms did him in.
Most damning evidence early on was, who had 2 phones......Dwight.
I had a work phone and a private phone for years. And you don't really need to have a separate phone to detonate a bomb, especially if you're about to burn your identity anyway, and thus presumably dump your phone.
This is going to be a "buy" for me, partially because I was getting so frustrated watching Jon play it.
Love you, Jon! Don't change!
Why is "buy" in quotations, seems like another crime might be underway...
this is why most of my purchases happen.
That was pretty good, thanks for the video. The game kind of reminds me of the sexy brutale. Another detective type game where you keep rewinding time to the start. It was a pretty good game that didn't get a lot of attention.
Really glad to see this game getting covered, I can't remember when I picked it up (probably a random sale buy) but when I eventually played it I thought okay this is something special with a really unique premise I've not seen in any other game
Thoroughly recommended as a "makes you feel very smart" game once you piece things together
One of the rare occasions I play a game before MATN and this one is something special. One of the best investigation games I ever played.
20:57 That would be correct, assuming Doug doesn't refer to himself in the third person. I really hope someone in one of the later puzzles does, just to throw the player off a bit.
EDIT: Also, one QoL change I'd like to see would be the ability to denote in-game how sure you are of someone's identity. Being able to change the symbol to the right of the name once you've assigned it, for example.
" I really hope someone in one of the later puzzles does, just to throw the player off a bit." That might seem a bit forced, given how rare it is IRL.
Maybe? I know enough people who do it when calling themselves an idiot so it isn't impossible
I just covered this game! It's so AMAZING! i really hope Jon enjoys it, and i hope the DLC gets translated sometime.
Translated?
@@SomeOne_86 It's a Chinese game.
@@JC-ig4oy Didn't know that, thanks. I thought it was an autocorrect/typo.
@@SomeOne_86 Yup. there's DLC that needs t be translated from chinese, and the developers just don't have the ability to do so.
Feels like a mix of Obra Dinn and the Braindance Minigame in Cyberpunk
This looks awesome!
ok this looks amazing immediately
This looks like a wonderful detective game!!
Mechanically this reminds me of Obran Dinn which means I have to play this.
This is really cool!
So this is "Source Code" the game? This is very cool.
Oh wow I really want this game.
Damn, I was sure The Raven was Tucker. Dwight's panicked calling everyone didn't seem like something a mastermind would do... Kinda there just for misdirection :/
Liked this a lot.
When you invested only in Inland Empire and took ALL the drugs.
Never liked that that skill row. Savoir Faire was my favorite. Too bad the game did not live up to the cool skill tree.
I read the thumbnail as "Unitard" and let me tell you... that rose utterly different expectations than the game delivered.
Reminds me of Sexy Brutale and Ghost Trick- Both excellent games.
I haven't seen the whole video yet, but Dwight's voice just sounds super ominous. Almost like the auditory version of uncanny valley?
Hello. I'm currently very anxious. This video made me feel a lil better. Thanks :)
Very nice.
Loved this game so much. I was so sad to see that it had a lot of untranslated dlc ;-;
Who is Kaiser Soze?
I remember playing this game back in 2020, it got way too complex for me at the end that I just kinda dropped it
I find it hilarious that this criminal mastermind keeps getting screwed over by punk-ass kids 😂
i think your right his name is not in the pile so he got denigrated 31:06
It feels like if Obra Dinn was made by Mike Bithell. It's always good to see - or indeed hear - game developers trying new things!
its just a fancy door kickers 0:23
A) Mickey reminds me of Mickey the crook from Bob’s Burgers;
B) Is Kint a reference to The Usual Suspects?
Very interesting! Always interested in real detective games like this one!
Star Control Date 0007. Today I continue my quest, requesting famous Classicist and Excel enthusiast play Star Control 2.
How long my journey will be... I cannot say. But I am dedicated to my quest. For I am certain that it is his favorite game.... and he doesn't even know it yet.
I hate alot of games like this but i was so invested thank you jon my eyes will be on this
Am I missing something?, Jon clearly says he thinks it Dwight but at 36:57 he appears to click on Martin’s name and the game says correct answer
I think that was a cut - a rather accidentally-misleading one. In this case I'd trust Jon's narration, and assume he did click on Dwight before clicking Submit.
It is odd, but there is literally no reason to suspect Martin. No opportunity to plant the bomb in Kint, and no motive since he knew Blade was a mole (and would have removed him long ago were he Raven).
You mislabelled Sting early on when you mistakenly thought you'd selected Cassidy, and then looked for the only other unassigned bubble to assign to be Sting even though it clearly couldn't have been them(they were following Cassidy into the station when you went to label them, how could they have possibly gotten ahead of Cassidy and be with another office at the desks in the centre of the room).
Easy mistake, but it's why everyone jokes you have low perception, you missed multiple obvious indications you had the wrong person because you were so eager to assign the label when you got confused you didn't stop to work out what was wrong.
That was the end to that? Or was there a transition to the next case? Seemed lil abrupt ending 😝🤪😜
While obviously not FMV, this does remind me of "Psychic Detective", a really awful late 90s FMV game about, lo and behold, a Psychic Detective.
You played as his powers more than anything else, and could leave the protagonist at any time to scout around (all in real time, so you could miss stuff if you weren't in the right place at the right time), and progression was based on what your powers learned and told the protagonist.
Great premise, pure awful cheesy game.
Well this isn’t even about a psychic. Near as I can tell you are the test subject for some new tech that can create auditory recordings of past events.
I swear Jon's played a game similar to this before - can anyone remember which game it might have been? Have a vague memory that a secret was stolen / multiple people got shot.
Scene Investigators maybe?
@@AmandaDavis6130 looking into it a bit more, I think I was actually thinking of _this_ game 🤦♀ but I was remembering another RUclipsr - either Call Me Kevin or Welonz - playing it when it first came out
The plot of this reminds me of the Joker's jail break from The Dark Knight.
I saw that plot when they said it's not like Kint, so he was drugged and wired up, and we already saw the group get blown up right before. Kint is the BOMB! haha
A mix between that and “The Usual Suspects”.
Who is Kaiser Soze?
I'm getting some The Usual Suspects vibes
Yeah so the "Kint" threw me off - being the mastermind in Usual Suspects.
- 1 to Jon, he picked martin instead of Dwight at 37:01
Officer the psychic from the future is spying on me in the bathroom again!! 🥵
Day if you squint right it could be the Fibonacci sequence/1230 of requesting Jon read Macbeth to us with accompanying funny voices for the characters.
If crime were to have a voice it would probably say things like "come back and accept your inevitable gnoming."
It's a very fun game. Enjoyed my time with it. Too bad some extra level or something was only available in chinese last time I checked...
4:09 lol "ur-rhinals" 😅 I'm always entertained by the differences between Brit and American pronunciation
It's "Past Playback Listening Detective" because there is no mind reading or anything psychic about it.
Day 9 of requesting _Age of Mythology_.
Today's book recommendation is related to the supernatural detective angle, as well as the mysteriously dirty cops with unclear motives. _Fool Moon_ by Jim Butcher is the sequel to _Storm Front_, and if you couldn't guess it's got werewolves, a police station being torn apart, and the same action that made you love the first book.
I like Jim Butcher. He's a good author. He finally put out the sequel to The Amber Spyglass you know.
Who's WHOM, Jon!!!!
Who is WHOM. It's always WHOM if theres 2 of them!!!
Blargh!!
It's never whom. Ever.
One thing my brain will never process fully is the way British people pronounce "urinal". I've heard it a handful of times, I know it to be true, but everytime my brain comes to a skidding stop and asks me "Did I just hear that right? Am I having a stroke?"
To a lesser extent, but still jarring to my American ears is "skeletal". The first time I ever heard that pronunciation was via Jon in his Skyrim series (the Labyrinthian dragon).
Haven't watched yet, but I misread the title in the thumbnail as 'Unitard'.
Oh thank god it's not just me, I spent way too long trying to figure out why it was called UNIITARD
Entry 9: command and conquer?
so early
Hey, you got first comment!🥇
Very early indeed
Day 14/1230 of requesting Jon play a game nobody will remember, like Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim. The next sub-plub is inspired by Yahztee of Fully Ramblomatic who did a video on Beyond Good and Evil. What happens when you combine a news reporter, a warthog with snark and a world where the XCom Aliens won? One of the best games Ubisoft put out in the Xbox era.
Now how did you get to 14. He doesn't upload on Mondays.
@@matthewknight8850 I posted an extra time on the Sunday vid
Day 9 of requesting Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising
Day 4 of asking for a return to Fallout 76.
Never forgive Bethesda for deleting Nuclear Winter.
I'm inclined to agree with you. They had something there... and then tossed it for something that nobody seems to enjoy (at least according to the ppl I talk to)@@-DM
Sadly I think this is not a good game for RUclips or streams. Still a very interesting concept!
