Thank you! I regret buying this expensive, complicated vacuum. It’s really a machine and not for everyone. You have to be fit to even use it. You saved the day!

Finally a little reaction from me. I was in Germany. I saw the video and appreciate the great explanation about the maintenance of the bush roll. Also the proper way of setting the adjustment to I. In the past I mistake not to count back an hardly couldn’t replace the bush roll in smoothly. Thanks Dean for this outstanding an professional made video !
Thank you for this video. I don't regret buying mine because there isn't anything out there that has the sucking power a Kirby has. I do agree with the last comment, that this vacuum isn't for everyone. There has to be faithfully responsible do maintain this investment. I finally know how to fix the flickering light/skipping roller problem. Thank you again again and again.
Watched your video and fixed our issue, had flickering light and bucking and yes, I have long hair and cleaned the bar and checked the belt and it definitely needed replaced. And I learned to lift the beater bar before shutting off and saved us money. Works just like new again. Thank you so much 😊 Love our Kirby again ❤

My Kirby belt is almost 3 years old. I haven’t had any issues of the belt slowing/stopping. The green light is as solid as solid can get when adjusted to the proper height. (To the second click of the brush hitting the carpet).

I found your videos today. I am so glad!! You are very thorough! I probably forgot about the notches on the roller since they show you 100 things about the Kirby when you purchase. My belt had a narrow section in one area. I tried to reload the belt to see if the belt was spinning or the green light was affected, but the belt doesn't seem to be reloading/attaching... Somehow, when you turn the belt to (off) to take it off , it’s on. When you turn it to (on) it loosens to take it off … wasnt like that before . Idk 🤷♀️ and now the brush won’t spin. And I literally just cleaned everything you did . Like I have before. And had no issues . But now I do.
I’m about to scream with this thing. Does red off mean belt is stretched to rotate roller? The “hook” on the head is turned into the opposite position to catch the belt. My hands are bleeding trying to “catch” the belt and turn the handle to the green on position according to the arrows. Brand new machine. Never used until tonight! Help!!!! Thank you!
Such good maintenance tips; a little goes a long way! Nope, it certainly isn't your hair. :) I tend to check my brush roll on my G3 at my cottage more often for sand that accumulates somewhat in the metal plate. Interesting tip that you go one more notch down after the sound changes. I tend to stop once the sound changes and makes contact with the carpet. What is the advantage of going down one 'more notch'? Thks Dean.
Dropping it one more notch was what Kirby taught me when I demoed G3s. I have noticed when I forget to go one more on the pull back the Kirby doesn’t have contact with the carpet . Hope this helps , thanks again for continued support and watching my videos from beginning to end . Really appreciated 👍👍
hi Dean, my question is. Can I replace the kirby g4 shampooer tray for a the new model avilir ? It's more convenient that one than the one that comes on the G4...
I changed belt and it won't turn back to original position, it's tight around the roller and the roller can't turn. I loosened the turner, and it's not in the right position. The vacum blew dirt across the floor.
In order to wind the belt off when not in use, I assume you have to remove the front of the machine to unhook the belt and not have it on the motor shaft and then put the front back on with the belt loose when storing? Or am I missing an easy way to disengage the belt without removing the front of the machine and reattaching? Thanks

I know I could find it in your videos, but how have you gotten all of your Kirbys? From people for free, thrift store, eBay? And how much did you pay for them if you bought them from someone?
I remember my parents Kirby Dimond edition had a burning smell when I was a kid. I know it was the belt now but I knew nothing about vacuum belts back then. I was almost afraid to use it because of the burning smell. I thought it was burning up lol 🤣
I have done everything you said and my green light still is not coming on! Brush roll isn’t spinning, belt is burning and the metal piece that sticks out from the motor is black and very hot to the touch.
Raising the floor nozzle before powering down after vacuuming is second nature to me.... just like setting the handbrake when parking a manual transmission vehicle!
I thought it was a common practice, like it was compulsory kinda thing. My knowledge of kirby is very slim but I did always think that raising the head before turning the machine off was just what you had to do haha
@@RJA_World Granted my experience with Kirby vacuum cleaners traces back to when I was 5 years old so I know damn well how they work (and how to troubleshoot). Many average joes on the other hand can be a little clueless regarding a Kirby's functionality. Take for example, my employer has a Kirby G4 for cleaning the office which is used mostly by the boss and/or receptionist. Whenever I see it parked, the floor nozzle is left dropped all the way to the floor, the automatic transmission is still in drive mode and more than likely the bag is overfilled with dust. Amazingly that vacuum has been in use at company for 10 years and still works!
@@CO84trucker It's just a case of not using the vacuum as intended and then saying it's rubbish when it doesn't work. I know a lot of people dislike Dyson but it's what happens most of the time, they get absolutely battered, unwashed filters, over filled bin ect and say they're rubbish when they burn out after a couple of years.
@@RJA_World Touche. Kirby as opposed to Dyson can sustain much more abuse over the years. Also, since Kirby has a signature factory rebuild program, this works as an advantage to their research & development department. Same. I bought mine used. I think they got me for my money. Green light not turning on, brush roll not rolling. Followed everything in the video and still nothing
I’ve had my Avalir2 for about 1 1/2 years. Frankly, I regret having purchased this thing. My previous vacuum, however, had - literally - just died (from age) when a nice young salesman showed up at my door. Kirby does have a good reputation, so I let him demonstrate the machine. Good sales guy; fast talker, charming, and made everything about the vacuum seem easy to operate, fix, replace, and troubleshoot. I though a Kirby might last until I kick the bucket (I’m 58.) I’ve since learned that Kirby salespeople actually target low-income zip codes. Yes, I’m post-divorce poor. The income group least likely to afford a Kirby most often end up buying one on installments . . . of course . . . making an already expensive vacuum cost even MORE. Lovely. I’m already a pretty cynical person. Falling prey to a slick sales guy certainly hasn’t helped. I also didn’t have $2000+ just laying around. So now I’ll be paying a good chunk of change for a very heavy, clunky, temperamental vacuum until I’m either very old or very dead. No one should have to memorize the owner’s manual and/or spend time looking for videos and help on the internet to operate a vacuum. ANY vacuum. In the 1 1/2 years I’ve had the Kirby, 1. I’ve cleaned the roller & everything I could reach quite a few times. 2. The upper handle assembly had to be replaced b/c the spring-bolt which allows the cord hook to rotate stripped out, meaning when I lifted the unit the entire upper half separated from the lower half. Apparently it’s connected to the lower handle by this ONE BOLT. Really? Nearly everything else about a Kirby is over-engineered, convoluted, complicated. Yet the substantial weight of the entire vacuum rests on ONE MINOR BOLT. Ridiculous! 3. The green light has ALWAYS blinked. A few days ago, the power cut off AS I was vacuuming. I was so aggravated 😡 that I set the unit aside or I might have gotten a hammer & pounded the whole machine into scrap-metal! Today, 1. I’ve cleaned the roller brush & all other tubes. 2. Examined the belt (seems okay.) 3. Looked at the metal hook-thing that pushes in the front-facing safety switch (seems fine.) 4. TRIED to see the safety switch wedged between the intake & the machine. Even with a flashlight, I simply cannot see it well enough to determine if it’s okay. Can’t reach it, either. 5. Replaced the bag even though there was plenty of room left in the old one. 6. Gone over the power cord carefully. I find no wear/defects and the connections are firmly seated. I watched a video from another entity before this one. In that video, after the technician went over all the trouble-shooting points, he said - NO SHIT - “If you’re still having problems, just send it to us.” Uh-HUH. Like anyone is going to package up an entire Kirby and pay a ransom to ship it someplace! Okay, so I’m going to attempt to power up my Kirby in a minute. Regrets, regrets, regrets. The Kirby isn’t an albatross around my neck - it’s an elephant!
I’m sorry to here about your experience with your Kirby. I hope my channel can help you enjoy your Kirby more and make cleaning a lot easier with your Kirby . I do have a video on why Kirby may not be working I will post link below . I hope this can help ruclips.net/video/ECl1P7hzKuI/видео.html.
There is also an app for your phone. And if you are having issues with your kirby you should be able to take it to yoyr local kirby distributor (who you bought it from) and they can help. Although, about 90% of the time they can help you resolve simole issues over the phone. As far as tageting poor people that is simply not true. I prefer checks not financing the kirbys because the finance companies actually charge a reserve so the dealer gets paid less. If you are still having issues after watching these videos or using the app for your phone as I said reach out to your local kirby office. Most local distributors are very helpful since kirbys main form of advertising is though word of mouth. If used properly you should enjoy many years of use and not have to buy another vacuum/shampooer for many years. I have one kirby that is over 50 years old and still runs great.

hi Dean, my question is. Can I replace the kirby g4 shampooer tray for a the new model avilir ? It's more convenient that one than the one that comes on the G4...
Yes you can i did a video few years back with g7 using the Avalir tile system and G4 Using it to polish wooden floors
I changed belt and it won't turn back to original position, it's tight around the roller and the roller can't turn. I loosened the turner, and it's not in the right position. The vacum blew dirt across the floor.
Try taking end caps off brushroll and removing any hair wrapped and lubricant bearings
You're such a guy using a Stanley knife. I use craft scissors or a regular knife. Good tips as usual.

I hate this I got it but not having issues and customer service sucks no one is helping us
