Dude! You are awesome! I had no idea about the numbering for the carpet rolling attachment and you saved me from ruining it. Definitely going to watch the rest on how to take care of my Kirby :)
Cleaning the brush roll is the biggest neglect think I've noticed on pretty much all vacuums I've gotten. I've seen them so wrapped up that all of the bristles are flattened out permanently, along with hair wrapped up around the bearings at the ends which burns when running and makes them stink horribly, not to mention introduces extra wear and tear on belts and the motor. Also, for the wheels, there is a product called Rubber Roller Restorer I've used. It takes off just the very outside layer of rubber from the wheels so don't use it too often, but it makes the wheels soft and grippy again.
my first kirby, a G5 I got cheap cause the power cord was no good, I just used a pc power coard and an extension cord, granted its not pretty but it did allow me to use the machine
Amazon is your best friend for bags. I get a 6-pack of the blue bags for $11 US. The green HEPA ones usually run $20 US on Amazon but still cheaper than from Kirby.

With my current vacuum which isn't a kirby.... it has a hose.... I have some activated charcoal for fish aquariums (a big container I bought a long time ago) ... after a couple of vacuums... I'll suck up maybe a tablespoon or 2 of the charcoal pellets...a few vacuums later if I feel like the charcoal has been covered with dirt... I do this again... I've been doing this for a LONG time...and the bag smells neutral even after months (it takes me forever to come close to filling a bag... I don't have pets... but the bag will still get that stale smell if I don't do this...just not sure how you could do it with a kirby since everything has to go through the fan... It's amazing having a 5 month old bag that smells like I just put in a new one with zero smell.
@@KirbyEnthusiast Yep but it's not just dogs that can cause the bag to smell... We can cause it too... like when you vacuum all that dead skin from mattresses, etc.. or just food crumbs , etc.... Not as bad as dog... but things can still grow in the bag.... I think a company is starting to make silver infused HEPA bags for many vacuums including Kirby...I think silver kills the bacteria that can grow in the bag... unfortunately they wouldn't be OEM....I saw a video about them the other day. I think it's from the maker of the Zero G vacuum or something

I bought a Kirby Avalir 2 this summer and I absolutely hate it with every fiber in my being! No vacuum should be this difficult to use. Belt on is opposite of what you think, have to remember to hit drive (why is there even a neutral/drive option?!), I keep wearing through belts. It's heavy as hell, cumbersome to haul around and store. I absolutely hate it and would love to burn it in the middle of Kirby's parking lot.
Sorry to hear you have issues with your Kirby .You obviously wasn’t shown how to use it correctly, I have a video on why belts are burning . Correct height adjustment and fitting the brushroll correctly after changing belt. I use maybe 2 belts a yr in mine . The neutral switch is when vacuuming hard floors and shampoo img carpets so it doesn’t wheel spin and and mark floor or. Carpets. Hope my channel helps you to appreciate and love your Kirby once again

I've been obsessed with vacuums since I was young. Always had more than a few at a time, I just bought a Kirby Avalir 2. First vacuum I'm honestly afraid of 😅 I'm sitting here working my way up to turning it on lol
I've been having a lot of luck with Kirby's and that means people have been throwing them away like I've been finding them in the trash literally and it may be just some sock or something stuck in the passageway where the fans at or just you know maybe a cord was cut off of it but very successful here with Kirby's and I really haven't paid a full price for when I just got them from thrift stores so that's a good place to look if you ever want to hunt down a curb and get one really cheap I also have a vintage one from the 19 60s but anyway just wanted to add that in there
I picked up a Curb find legend 2, had been thrown out just for a broken fan. Easy fix polish and as good as new . Some people think it will cost a fortune to repair then throw in the trash like you would do with a broken Dyson .
I bought a Lightly used Avalir 2 today and it seems to be working fine, but the back wheels don't spin like yours do in the video. It definitely moves easier when I push down on the drive switch, but they don't spin when I hold the unit up off the floor. I wonder if the drive belt needs replacing even though it does move pretty good when I engage the drive switch?
@@KirbyEnthusiast Thanks for the help. The wheels do spin now! I’ve watched a ton of your videos, and Im trying to find the one where you mentioned a cloth dust bag that can be used over and over again.I think you even said it could be washed in a washing machine. Buy now I can’t find the video because I watched too many of them.🤣 Could you direct me to the video I’m looking for?
As a new Kirby owner, I was told by the shop to put the vacuum in neutral when I am running it on my wood floors. You’re saying to keep it in drive whenever it is moving, is that correct?
No when ever on hard floors it should be in neutral as it is not hard to push . If you have techdrive on hard floors it can wheel spin causing damage to wheels or hard floors .
I normally hang mine on the Kirby handle ready for use each day. Hope this helps, if you get value from my channel , please contemplate subscribing and a like as helps me reach more Kirby owners. Thankyou for support really appreciated
Need help will a silly thing. The belt on/ belt off. I keep burning up belts. Where does the need to be to run properly? On or off while running the vacuum?
When vacuuming carpet belt should be wound in . Green to green means ready to clean . If vacuuming hard floors belt wound off. If you are burning belts the brushroll may be set to low a number when you’ve change belts it’s should be on number 1 depending how old Kirby is . Also when you start Kirby on carpet when you lower , as tone changes then it’s only 1 more click down . I post link to my burning belts video which explain brushroll height when changing belt .ruclips.net/video/jY1mS_U2cck/видео.html
Good morning, new subscriber to your channel. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, very informative!! I am new to the Kirby line-up, my parents had an old one when I was a kid. I am having a hard time deciding between the Ultimate G Diamond edition and the Avalir 100th anniversary. I have 2 Akita's that sleep inside and pet hair drives me crazy and it's hard to get up with the average vacuum cleaner. Which of the 2 i mentioned is the best for my application, I was told the diamond edition is best for pet hair Also, where can i find one of the older Kirby stretch hose that is about 11 feet long when uncoiled? Thanks, Chris
Hi Chris thankyou for support of my channel reall appreciated. Glad I’m reaching and helping so many Kirby owners . The Both kirbys are good for pet hair , the Avalir 100 has more airflow with around 150+ CFM . The Ult G Diamomd is better for light weight rugs as it had a low power switch which is great for that reason . I would definitely get the Avalir 100 as it’s a better machine out of the 2 in my opinion.Hope this helps Dean

Kirby is good vacum but i dont understand why it doesn t have a trap for little pice in iron like screw or similar. I think that if domeone pick up a little iron think he'll destroied the plastic body of the kirby core... ps sorry for my bed english
@@KirbyEnthusiast The trap should be in FRONT of the fan-NOT behind it.I have a famous name commercial direct air canister vacuum where the scrap trap is AHEAD of the fan NOT after it-so nails, coins paper clips, etc go into the trap NOT the fan. This could be done for the Kirby-esp with the hose canister cleaner since the motor and fan are spinning faster to get suction thru the hose. The heavy debris will go in the trap-not the fan.
I am a new subscriber and I have a kirby avalir and i have checked all the safety switches and the cord everything is connected correctly and it still won't turn on please help . Thank you
These Kirby Vacuums are typically around the $2,000 price range with attachments, why is it I always see them listed on various online sales pages for $200-500? I'm not talking old models either, the ones I find most often are G-Series and the Avalir series. Why so cheap of a resell value?
People don’t realise what they are worth and just want a quick sale. I have picked some up that need a lot of work from miss use. But then I’ve got some awesome bargains from G6s - Avalir .
@@KirbyEnthusiast Thank you for the reply. I was wondering if that were the case for most of them...maybe family members who've died and family just selling off stuff to get rid of it. I think I'm going to pick one up here soon...any reason to get a G6 or Avalir? Is one better than the other?
William Sevier They are the same motor but the emptor on the avalir gives more airflow and cfm and the brushrill on the avalir is the oblique one. Also I find the avalir just feels lighter and turns easier
Once you know how to use them to there full potential, it’s easy. Saved me a fortune over the yrs in furniture and carpets. I’d never buy a bagless vacuum due to dust when emptying and lack of cleaning efficiency.
Around min 4:10 or so you mention to use generic kirby bags but i think you mean "original" kirby bags since "generic" are the cheap knock-off bags you specified not to use.
thought i new everything no! this helped me with my legend 2 and g4 edit: next good kirby to get im getting one soon someone give me suggestions and yes from now on i want kirby's they are beasts better than my henry xtra
I was given a Kirby years ago. I have no idea how old it is because they all look retro. I love it. It is quirky and definitely has character. How do I find out how old it is? Is there a year or model number anywhere? The cord looks 1970's era and it has a dust bag with a zipper and a HEADLIGHT!
HEY! Model 332618 is what it says on the little metal placard. There are several other batches of numbers but nothing that screams "date" on it. The closest I can figure is one batch of numbers that starts with 1983xxx. That would kind of make sense because it was given to me back in the early/mid 90's. The only thing I have had to fix on it so far has been a rubber band drive belt. I recently was looking at a new, lighter vac and was blown away at the prices and the insanely bad, cheap construction! Do you think the model I have is 1983? @@KirbyEnthusiast

Good job mate, hope your channel grows fast!
Cheri z Thanks , enjoy your Avalir 2 and thanks fir supporting my channel .
Which of the 2 i mentioned is the best for my application, I was told the diamond edition is best for pet hair
Also, where can i find one of the older Kirby stretch hose that is about 11 feet long when uncoiled? Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris thankyou for support of my channel reall appreciated. Glad I’m reaching and helping so many Kirby owners .
The Both kirbys are good for pet hair , the Avalir 100 has more airflow with around 150+ CFM .
The Ult G Diamomd is better for light weight rugs as it had a low power switch which is great for that reason .
I would definitely get the Avalir 100 as it’s a better machine out of the 2 in my opinion.Hope this helps Dean
How can we adjust the airflow on the Avalir 2?
Apart from putting a earlier bag and emptor on you can’t really lower airflow .
Just curious why you would need to unless you have lightweight mats.
@@KirbyEnthusiast that’s exactly the reason. I have lightweight mats. I have these rugs by ruggable
Anyone know what the rubber band is for under the roller of vaccum?
It’s the brushroll belt for the brushroll
Hi how do we contact you? We have a problem with ours the boot doesn’t fully twist to click abs activate the light switch. Seems loose.

Hi mate I just brought a kirby avalir 2 and just want to know why my soap disappear fast. I put the right amount of shampoo in and i don't go to fast
Is it 1st time using ? . If not did you swill it out with just plain water and certain detergent can react with the Kirby foam
It's the second time shampooing and it's done it both times, yes just water nothing else
Oh sorry and I use the kirby shampoo only
Sorry for late reply , I don’t get notifications of replies in a convo. I have to physically check every reply . Have you checked the filter hasn’t come off the shampoo bottle where the outlet hose connects
Thanks heaps.
Your welcome thankyou for support of my channel 👍👍
@@KirbyEnthusiast Just got myself a refurbished G6. I know nothing about them, but you're explaining all I need to know for it. Great and handy channel. Thanks again.
@@mcake1234 next to the G4 I think the G6 was a great colour scheme
Kirby is good vacum but i dont understand why it doesn t have a trap for little pice in iron like screw or similar. I think that if domeone pick up a little iron think he'll destroied the plastic body of the kirby core... ps sorry for my bed english
Hi Riccardo, the mini emptor collects any metal objects, i try not to vacuum them up though as . A screw can destroy the fan
Great video for newer Kirby owners. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much for watching and your continued support of my channel
just ogt a gen4 a few days ago. Can I wash the bag?
Yes you can wash the bag , put it on a quick gentle wash 👍👍
@@KirbyEnthusiast thanks. sorry it is a gen 5 with some sort of special hepa bag on it. so it is ok to be washed?
I just bought a Kirby . I thought it was Avalir BUT on model tag is writen Model G10D sentria.. So , Iam confused... Is it Avalir or Sentria?
Kirby never updated the tag on the bottom , All the Avalirs have a Sentria model G10 on the bottom.

@@KirbyEnthusiast thank you Sooo much!!! I messaged you also in Facebook . So it is Avalir after all!
I am a new subscriber and I have a kirby avalir and i have checked all the safety switches and the cord everything is connected correctly and it still won't turn on please help .
Thank you
Hi Charlie is it an avalir 1 or 2. as the avalir 2 has an internal fuse
Challee36 there is an internal fuse in the avalir 2. Is you fan ok , I know if it spins off balance this can trip the internal fuse .
Alannah Bruin sorry I don’t understand comment
@@KirbyEnthusiast Ok, thank you I'll go with the newer Avalir then when I pick one up.
William Sevier not a problem here to help 👍👍
I can see why there are so many of these sold second hand and owners opting for simple bagless cleaners.
Once you know how to use them to there full potential, it’s easy.
Saved me a fortune over the yrs in furniture and carpets. I’d never buy a bagless vacuum due to dust when emptying and lack of cleaning efficiency.
Just subscribed! I can't get my belt to engage
Hi Melinda , thank for subscribing to my channel. Are you a member of the Kirby Enthusiast Facebook page as you can post a video of the problem . 👍👍
Around min 4:10 or so you mention to use generic kirby bags but i think you mean "original" kirby bags since "generic" are the cheap knock-off bags you specified not to use.
Yeah I did mean Genuine Kirby bags . I will look at editing this one . Thanks for support. 👍👍
All sorting should be ok in a few hours thanks for letting me know and thanks for subscribing to my channel it means alot

Your welcome , thankyou for supporting my channel make sure to ding the bell not to miss new tutorial and competition upload 😀😀
Date stamp should be on base sticker on early models or on front casing of unit infront of where Sani emptor fits 👍👍
