Such great tips Dean especially if one is new to using a Kirby. I have had years of problem-free belts, tech drive, and brush rolls just by doing the things you showed us in this video. Many thks. keep up the great work!
I just lean our Kirby’s over to the side a little when I turn them on or off. That way the roller isn’t in contact with the floor when I stop and start. Our place is small, we have a lot of obstacles and I would spend half the day adjusting the height if I used the ‘official’ method, would become rather tedious. Just saw latest Avalir Platinum. Kirby went all out with by this update. They would have spent literally **hundreds ** of dollars on this cosmetic update!! I guess the colours ( shades? ) will age well. Hope the castings have improved. The last few Avalirs I have pulled apart have shown a deterioration in quality compared to the G5/6 era machines. Maybe the moulds are getting tired. Still an outstanding machine and without peer… after all this time.
@@KirbyEnthusiast I was using mine 6-8 hours a day so I checked it each evening. I'd seen it threatening to happen previously but I never expected it to melt the plastic bearing housings.
I love my G3. I honestly am not sure why anyone even would leave the toe touch in the lowered position. Maybe it's my mechanic side, but I absolutely love the click tactile feel and sound as it lowers down each setting, then the satisfying low hum when it contacts. My G3 has a failing transmission, I'd like to rebuild it as some point, but I was wondering what the best replacement would be if I can get one. Would the G7 transmission for example be an upgrade? My thinking is to swap in a new unit, then set the failing assembly on my bench until I can rebuild and service it. I also plan to swap my mini emptor for the highest airflow option possible, to get some more efficiency out of my machine. I think the modularity with the parts on the Generation series is the best move Kirby ever made. Nothing like it. A gearhead's vacuum I say.
Si neutro is when is off only or for when do u recommend? Do we put on neutro for mattress and stairs or always automatic and only neutro when is off to move it to it’s place? And when or for what do we have to have our belts off/ in red just to give an example, if we are doing the mattress or a hairy rug do we have to take the belt off put it in red and if we have too, do do we remove it completely from the roller or just let it in the roller while we use it?! ) Sorry for the many question
Tech drive should be in Neutral when vacuum stairs , Matress or wooden or tiled floors . Also when using upright carpet shampoo system tech drive should be of (Neutral ) Hope this makes sense .😀👍
Seems like every time I have a question you have a video up about the topic I'm asking about. The problem I'm having is I click the height adjustment down until it makes the deep hum, and then give it one more click. This will work fine for a random area of my carpet, then when I'm vacuuming my house, the hum is gone, until I lower it for that section. So I'm having to either lower or raise the roll maybe 10 to 15 times to vacuum my rental home. Which as you could imagine, is quite the pain in the butt, as well as not cleaning as well as it could be during those random areas before I hear it to adjust. Belts are brand new, I bought it used so the roller has slight fraying on the ends of the sections but other than that the brush roll is in good shape, the roll is set properly both ends are on their matching number. Do you have any tips or advice on what to do with this problem? It's making it beyond tedious to vacuum properly, I'm almost debating on buying the "modern" style of a vacuum like the one to your left in the video so it can just maintain contact with the carpet throughout the house. Until I move into a house with better carpets of course, never parting away with my Kirby. I have a feeling its due to the carpet needing to be stretched again and the Kirby style of height adjustment doesn't do well with those conditions. Hope I'm wrong though, love this machine.
Sounds like the carpet does need stretching or the pile is way trodden down in certain places as to why you have to lower it. If the bags are not filling up with dirt anymore , i would consider shampooing the carpet to clean and reset the pile so its pretty consistent across the house for height . But being a rental if your not staying there to long its not really worth cleaning the carpets with shampooer.
I always go two clicks after I hear the engine change noises. It takes three things to deep clean carpet. 1) tremendous air flow 2) gentle vibration and 3) the correct height adjustment. Therefore, different types of carpet require different height adjustments. No other vacuum has as many height adjustments as the Kirby, and not using the correct height will not only not clean as well but, will also wear out your belts quicker.
I bought a Kirby heritage from a antique store and it was In really bad shape it had seen alot of moisture being the fan shaft is rusted and the bag container will not come off it’s seized on the vacuum works completely fine but I wanna refurbish it and I am stuck because I can’t get that bag off
Spray with some wd40 or silicone spray . Leave it layin on its back overnight so the spray can penetrate and loosen the seals . As that’s what sticks over time as bag seal dries out . Hope this helps 👍🛎️
I know , what they don’t realise is it damages your carpet , put strain on the brushroll hence burning belts and damage beushrio to . Reducing cleaning performance too .👍🔔
Dean I have a carpet on a wood floor not fastened when I use it the vac sucks the carpet in and loads the brush roll real bad.when I click it up to where the brush does not hit the carpet it doesn't vacuum. or it sucks the carpet in and loads the brush roll . what am I doing wrong? the carpet is a 10 x 12 foot
Double check you belt isnt worn 1st , then if still to powerful id try straight suction only of hose to vacuum as mat may be to light weight for the kirby
My n/ d plastic lever broke. My grandson stepped on it. 😢which should it be left in for best all around use? Also the auto drive doesn’t work. Kirby repairman said leave without auto is fine. Should I get both issues fixed?

I was using one in my cleaning business a couple of years ago. A koad of hair got wrapped around one of the brush roll bearings and melted it.
I’ve never had that happen, but i normally check my brushroll each wk as woman’s hair is a nightmare on the belt if you don’t keep it clean

Oh hell. I didn’t know that about letting it up before you turn it off. No wonder I’d smell the belt a little.

All you have to do is make sure the Green light is still on while you vacuum.

I hate it too when people set the height real low and that goes for any vacuum they will set it low
