Thank you so much for your video! I am a 70yr old female senior on a fixed income & I purchased my Kirby (paying it off in installments), in 2018. Of course, the vacuum cleaner conked out and lost all of its suction at the leanest time of the month (moneywise) and I was really stressing about how I was going to get it fixed! I googled you for help and found your video. It was very easy to understand and follow along, but I had already checked the belt and sweeper head and changed the bag. Then you followed those basic instructions by telling me the other 2 places to look for, and clear clogs, and low and behold, ONE OF THEM WORKED!!! My sweeper has been REBORN! You were the answer to an old, not at all mechanically inclined, single woman's prayers! Thank you so much for your guidance. It was greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much for this! I am single after a 30 year marriage and find myself having to fix things like this for the first time in my life. Your video was extremely helpful and honestly made me feel great that I was able to do this with the help of your tutorial. Thanks again!
OK so I watched two videos on this published by Kirby and burned two belts because they were not specific enough in their steps. I was about to give up when I watch this video. Thank you for being so detail oriented in your steps. I was finally able to change the belt on my own!
this video need to replace the how to video that is posted on the Kirby app for customers because I spent over an hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong until I came across your video..the other video left out the belt on step… Thanks alot my kirby is working like a champ with its new belt!! Im glad I came across your video!!😊
I was having a hard time trying to put the belt on correctly. Almost regret buying it. It took me a while but I finally got it to work. Thank you. I couldn't believe I got it to work
Thanks sooo much for this well explained tutorial. Vacuum belt was rolling around while vacuuming and nothing was being picked up which was odd. After watching the tutorial is was clear the belt was not hooked up and now it is working as it should. Thankful for your info.
We inherited a Kirby years ago and I had to figure out how to take it apart without instructions. This video would have saved me so much time! As someone who repairs things for a living I have to say, Kirby vacuums are extremely well built! They're durable and easy to service. The old saying you get what you pay for definitely applies!
Great tutorial! I love my Kirby vacuum ( I should say vacuums as I have three of them) but one was not picking up well and shooting dust around the floor as I tried to vac. I watched the video and had already tried most of the things to check except to undo the bag from the outside of the machine. Sure enough that's where the clog was. I was afraid to remove that bag but with your easy instructions I finally tried it and the bag popped right off just like you said it would! Thank you for a wonderful product and tutorials to help us do it yourselfers fix their own stuff.
Omg, thank you so much!!! For months I could not figure out what was wrong with my vacuum, and you solved it in only a couple of minutes!! 🙌🏾 Now if I could figure out what's wrong with the shampooer portion of it, I'll be good to go! 😁 New Subbie!
The green led on the power nozzle is not connected to any circuit. It only lights up when the brush roll spins. So, you don't need to flip the vacuum upside down to see the brushroll spinning. The brushroll has a magnet embedded in it, and when it spins, the magnet passes by a small coil, generating a tiny bit of electricity, enough to power the LED for just a moment. Spinning fast enough, the LED stays lit. When the roll stops spinning, because, say, it got stuck to the carpet or pulled in a sock or something, the LED no longer illuminates. You can easily see how it works yourself: 1. Remove the head and loosen the belt, like at 5:20 and at 7:18. Note at 5:20 he turns the belt hook knob from red to green without mentioning it. 2. Turn the nozzle over so you can see the LED. 3. Now give the brush a spin with your fingers. If you get it to turn fast enough, which is not very difficult, you'll see the LED light up a few times.
Thank you sir. Your video was completely helpful. Followed it step by step and it works like new now. Changed the rubber and bag but I think the issue was the roll on brush wasn't aligned to the same number. The light used to go off once I put it on 3 and below and it wasn't picking up and brush would turn off. Thank you for your very informative and helpful video. 😁😊🙂
I inherited a newer Kirby Vacuum...I have an older unit that works great...I was disappointed with the new one because it wasn't picking up like my older unit, didn't sound right and the brush head was bouncing off the carpet. Well following your lead, not sure which of the 3 things I did fixed it but, after a new bag, a new belt and adjustment of the brush head it now works as good as my other older unit, maybe better...good job.
You are the best! I will try to get this vacuum belt on my bathroom cleaner for three weeks. The house looks crazy because I have not been able to get this vacuum belt on . thank you so much!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! At about 10:20 you show the portion in front of the fan. Good grief...it was so packed it took 15 minutes to get it all out! I'm amazed it was picking up anything! Did I mention "Thank you"?
Thank you so much this was a great video. My vacuum was not suctioning and I checked all the stuff and then the last part was taking off that where the section is I twisted it cuz I couldn't do it before looking at your video I twisted it counterclockwise as you said and man there was a whole bunch of screws and hair and paper it was so jammed no wonder it was not sucking at all thank you so much
Thanks so much for such helpful videos! 😊 I was trying to make it much harder than I needed too! 🤣 It's great to have these simple vids to fall back on when we need a reminder.
I did all of these steps and all of that is great on my Kirby Sentria. However it's still blowing the dirt around everywhere. It is not going into the bag. Any suggestions? The belt is in right, the belt is a couple years old but still sturdy. The brush roll and all of the tubes are free of clogs. Could it be the fan? I do have a chip in the fan but it's a very small chip.
Great video thank you. Wish you were the one who sold me my Kirby. (He actually left me with the demo and not a new one😆 That got handled fortunately.)
Learned a lot! my belt doesnt seem to be broken, by broken you mean litteraly broken? How to tell if its warn out? It just doesnt seems to have a strong pick up like a kirby, but the green light also doesnt go on--okay something very odd is going on. When I line up the green arrows should be belt on, belt is off! When I line the reds belt is on! What the heck--well the green light is not going on and the roll is not spinning
This was an amazing video and it just fixed my problem. which was it was clogged at the bottom and I also didn’t know that the bag came off on the side Thank you soooooo much
Thank you! I was getting so frustrated with my Kirby. I did some shredding and was trying to vacuum the pieces that fell but the vacuum was just pushing it around. I checked the brush, changed the bag, changed the brush levels and checked the spinney thing. It wasn’t until I popped off the attachment part that goes from the head to the bag that I found the most ridiculous clog. I’m embarrassed but now my vacuum is picking up stuff again. It seems to be shutting off on its own though now...any suggestions?
This is exactly what's going on with mine I put the level on the way down and that green light turn off I have to click it two or three times to get it off the ground it only does that when I put it on the way down
Got a new bag, new belt, new roller...it picks up dirt going forward but puts lint and dirt back down when I pull back. So for now, I just keep going in forward circles!😒
Is there a number that I could call, I just took out all of the debris that was stuck in the sections chamber then I replaced the bag and then put the thing back on and now the machine does not want to turn on it turned on before what could it be
My Sentra Kirby is not picking up through the hose attachment I use for curtains, window sills etc. There is suction but not enough to pick up. Please advise what I should do to fix the problem. Also, how much is the sentry replacement bag? Mine is about 20 years old and inner fabric is falling away from outer material. Thank you!
One note, your belt can get stretched over time. It may look perfect, but a clue this has happened is the belt will not engage in the ON position. If this happens, just replace the belt.
Hey there, can you (or anyone reading this) suggest what might be happening for me? I have had my gen 3 for 20-ish years and the last few I have been unable to use it because of the cleaning height. I drop it to where I hear the change and that's too low and it creates a 'vacuum' with the power head and the roller stops. The bristles are not too low (compared with a new one) but we still tried all 3 brush heights. This happens on any and all carpet pile type. The result is I can't get the brush close enough to the carpet to even touch it, let alone clean it. Any thoughts, Kirby community? ps the belt is new, with a rough interior, set correctly.
must have a leak somewhere.. both bag and wet vac doesn't pick up enough. the suction is weak. it picks up some liquid, but not the amount expected (used to do real well back at my previous house that had high pile carpets. this place has low pile, although it picked up a lot at first, as of late, it doesn't.
? When using the carpet shampooer I noticed that the brush would stop spinning if I lowered the Kirby too low but if I raise it back up until the brush starts rotating again it seems to be way too high to suck up the water that is in the carpet. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!!
Thanks for the comment. Try lowering the head until it's firmly in the carpet then raise it one click. Give that try. If you're still having issues please email us at service@greatvacs.com. :)
Hi, I have just bought a Kirby 4. Can you tell me is there a switch to stop the main head and the Handle from hanging down when you carry it around . All my other vacuums have this switch to hold the head in place.
Thank you - what is causing my Kirby motor to smoke once I have changed to the hose and extender - I have checked for clogs and it seems pretty clear - and also changed my bag .

Kirbys are so easy to fix . After working for Kirby many years ago , I have been maintaining my G4 and other Kirbys I have to save money
OK so I watched two videos on this published by Kirby and burned two belts because they were not specific enough in their steps. I was about to give up when I watch this video. Thank you for being so detail oriented in your steps. I was finally able to change the belt on my own!
This is a common problem with Kirby owners , such a simple fix that Kirby themselves don’t explain
this video need to replace the how to video that is posted on the Kirby app for customers because I spent over an hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong until I came across your video..the other video left out the belt on step… Thanks alot my kirby is working like a champ with its new belt!! You just saved me so much money. I was about to give up on this Kirby. I found the clog and we’re back in business baby
A lot of kirbys are given away for such simple fixes . They will last you a lifetime. I have 17 all running like new
I was having a hard time trying to put the belt on correctly. Almost regret buying it. It took me a while but I finally got it to work. Thank you. I couldn't believe I got it to work
My mom has the same problem
OMG, I ALMOST GIVE IT AWAY. 3 YRS W IT & NOTHING UNTIL I CAME ACROSS YOUR VIDEO. THANK YOU 😭😭😭❤️
Thanks sooo much for this well explained tutorial. Vacuum belt was rolling around while vacuuming and nothing was being picked up which was odd. After watching the tutorial is was clear the belt was not hooked up and now it is working as it should. Thankful for your info.
me too same issue

Another single mom here! Thank you for saving me time, money, and energy. This was a life saver!
Thank you for this video! The belt on/belt off part was the hard part for me to understand but your explanation helped!
Great video and very informative! It helped me with our 22 year old Kirby. It’s still running strong.
Love my Kirby, I have one from 1978 I refurbished and still works as good as my new Avalir 2
This video was just what I needed.
The height was off on my vacuum. Thank you so much for such great detail.
The brushroll is not for height of carpet only for wear of the brushroll. I have shared this a lot with viewers over my career
Great tutorial! I love my Kirby vacuum ( I should say vacuums as I have three of them) but one was not picking up well and shooting dust around the floor as I tried to vac. Kirby are so easy to repair and maintain. I have 17 at the moment
They are the best
Way late but this video helped me 5 years later. Thanks man
Even the newer ones look very similar to the old ones because it’s really a good design
Omg, thank you so much!!! For months I could not figure out what was wrong with my vacuum, and you solved it in only a couple of minutes!! 🙌🏾 Now if I could figure out what's wrong with the shampooer portion of it, I'll be good to go! 😁 New Subbie!
Really easy to fix and maintain, only vacuum I would recommend 👍👍
The green led on the power nozzle is not connected to any circuit. It only lights up when the brush roll spins. So, you don't need to flip the vacuum upside down to see the brushroll spinning.

Thanks for the fantastic explanation Bro. You were very concise and easy to follow which is appreciated! 2 Thumbs up for your explanation!
By watching this video, I was able to fix my Kirby by myself without any problems . Thank you Kirby and video

Thank you! That was so helpful - much better than trying to divine what drawings mean in the manual.
🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎁
Really easy to fix 👍👍
Thanks for comprehensive video
I finally get it a little clear
Thank you, thank you, thank you! At about 10:20 you show the portion in front of the fan. Good grief...it was so packed it took 15 minutes to get it all out! I'm amazed it was picking up anything! Did I mention "Thank you"?

Greetings, did you ever figure out what the issue was? Ours is barely picking up
@@CountryBlessingz mines too. It doesn’t pick up anything but light crumbs
P
Thank you so much!! I can now see what is wrong and clean my floors!! Your video is fantastic and you are an awesome instructor!!❤❤❤😊
Great video thank you. Wish you were the one who sold me my Kirby. (He actually left me with the demo and not a new one😆 That got handled fortunately.)
Thanks so much. I figured out it was a huge clog, thanks to you.
Got damn been using my kirby with the belt broken thats why im so confused why its not picking up. Where do we get replacemenfs
Replacement belts are so easy to get way cheaper than buying from Kirby
I wish this video existed 5 years ago. I had to figure this out by trial and error. The only I wasn't sure about was the brush roll numbers.
Thank you for the video I checked the belt more than once it's on correctly but it's smelling like the belt is burning or stuck help me please
Easy to fix here this a lot
I have saved this video and I continually refer to it. You guys are the best.
So easy to work on Kirbys, I have maintained mine myself for over 25yrs
It would help if you hold the head hole up to the camera while hooking the belt so the viewer can see what it should look like.
That's a good idea. We'll incorporate that next time. Thanks!
Thanks so much didn't know about the arm. Haven't used my kirby in a year.. U saved me $ ❤
Learned a lot! my belt doesnt seem to be broken, by broken you mean litteraly broken? How to tell if its warn out? Really simple to fix
You are a sweetheart! Thank you for your step by step tutorial!
Omg this helped me fix mi vacuum, thank you so much for making this video !
Nice to see so many Kirby owners getting the most out of there kirbys
Great, can't even get the brush out the head of the Vacuum. Anyone have any ideas how to get it out or what to use to get out???? HELP!!
I have had a lot of viewers ask this question 👌👌
Appreciate it bro.. direct hit.. hole in 1.. green light ON
I'm missing that silver skid plate.
Do you know a part number?
I was so frustrated thank you.. fixed it real quick
I liked the presentation! Thank you. 😊
I'm wondering how much a Kirby Sentria vintage without the hose part and not turning on is worth. The handle is pulling off too
Got a new bag, new belt, new roller...it picks up dirt going forward but puts lint and dirt back down when I pull back. So for now, I just keep going in forward circles!😒
Is the brushroll in the correct way ??
Awesome video, thank you!
Best vacuum you will ever own
how do i get my same exact vacuum to suck in its only blowing out
OMG ty so much! This video was so helpful.
Is there a number that I could call, I just took out all of the debris that was stuck in the sections chamber then I replaced the bag and then put the thing back on and now the machine does not want to turn on it turned on before what could it be

Omg thank you so much, this actually worked
Why is my Advair 2 leaving black spots when shampooing? Seems to occur more when still or pulling towards my body.
My kirby hose brock at the end . How do i get a new one ?
Thank you so much I watched a portion of this video and was able to fix my Kirby!
One note, your belt can get stretched over time. It may look perfect, but a clue this has happened is the belt will not engage in the ON position. If this happens, just replace the belt.

This saved me so much!!!!! Thank you so much! Seriously
I took my Kirby vaccum bag out but there was this plastic filter like cup in the permanent kirby bag and I do not know how to put it back on. Help!😊
Do you think it might be a filter sponge used with the shampoo attachment?
I don’t have any sort of filter in the vacuum bag.
Where in nz can I get a bags for Kirby vacumn
Where can I buy a used Kirby vacuum
Where can I buy a used Kirby vaccuum
must have a leak somewhere.. both bag and wet vac doesn't pick up enough. the suction is weak. it picks up some liquid, but not the amount expected (used to do real well back at my previous house that had high pile carpets. this place has low pile, although it picked up a lot at first, as of late, it doesn't.
Have you checked the filter pipe
Belt pulls the belt adjuster back off the red arrows preventing them to line up. Any ideas? It is the stock belt.
Figured it out! Thank you
Thank you for the info I found the clog in my Kirby diamond edition!!!!
I aldo need mote baggs agin how do i order them.
What do you do if the roller isn’t spinning.
Why do you use not original HepaFiltration with Micro Allergen Technology Kirby Bag?
The Hepa filtration bags are 99.9% efficient
Impossible for me to turn and catch belt and continue turning until green arrows line up. Tried everything
Thank you, I couldn't figure it out💜💜💜
Really simple fix once you know how 👍👍
What if the Green light repeatedly flickers? It just seems like my Kirby bogs down too frequently while vacuuming in a forward motion.
Belt is worn or brushroll clicked down to low
Thank you!
Thank you! Great Video now I know how to do it! God bless you

What if it’s not spinning? What do I do then?
I have the new avalir 2 it is the best 4k I have ever spent love the vac
4k?!!!! You got super robbed. I thought I overpaid at 3k
thank you! my problem was that it was clogged. so satisfying pulling it out tho.. like a long furry blackhead. LMAOO
😐
Hi, I have just bought a Kirby 4. Can you tell me is there a switch to stop the main head and the Handle from hanging down when you carry it around . All my other vacuums have this switch to hold the head in place.
It’s only the Sentria 2 and avalir that have that lock system
Thank you - what is causing my Kirby motor to smoke once I have changed to the hose and extender - I have checked for clogs and it seems pretty clear - and also changed my bag .
I have an Avalir 100 and My power button doesn’t stay on. Can you help me? Thank you
Do you mean the green
Light on power nozzle or the power to the Kirby pedal
thank you. This was easy to follow and understand.
Thank u so much got working great now!!!
Best video on the vacuum ever, saved my sanity!!
Thank you fixed my vacuum
Thank you, this video saved me!
Can't even spin the fan by hand. I've pulled everything out that I could see. I really hope I don't have to dismantle this thing.
Thankyou
😊💟💟💟
Thanks so much. I have the Ultimate G.
Ultimate g is awesome, I have so many Kirbys. I wouldn’t recommend any other brand
Am I gonna' wanna'?
Mine wont turn to off
🤣🤣
Awesome it worked
