    I'm thinking about picking up a low mileage 2021 eco diesel and was trying to see how hard or ease of doing self maintenance. Nice video.

      I'm almost at 60K miles and have done all of the work myself. Just went through and did all of the fluids and it went well. Here's that video - ruclips.net/video/wI1TD6V2vCw/видео.html

    I will usually remove the skid plates & that crossmember for the frame. No chances of a mess, remove 3 bolts and loosen the last. Swing it out of the way and voila, oil’s a changing.
    Having an impact wrench makes it much quicker.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Год назад +2

      That works but I don't like touching OEM bolts especially over and over again as often as an oil change but it certainly is an option.

    I have a question, as I've been looking at the ValvoMax. I know this video is 2 years old but I have the same truck, same engine, same color, even the same oil reservoir so I figure you have the answer. Ha When you install the drain piece, I know it makes the valve length longer while draining. Is there good clearance between it and the cross member so I'm not busting knuckles?? Thanks in advance!

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  3 месяца назад +1

      It's still tight like if you have some oil on it or on your hands, it can be hard to thread it just because you really can't see what you're doing. It will clear the cross-member but it's tight. There's another option out there that is a valve you can open / close but I was worried any thing hanging down from the oil pan would get hit or dinged and break and cause more damage.

    Question. My dealer say this job takes hours. Due to draining and they say it takes a lot more oil. What gives?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Месяц назад

      Your owners manual says what the oil capacities are. Are they saying the ValvoMax drain plug requires more oil be added? I definitely contest that. As for time it takes, sure it takes a bit more time to thread on the drain hose but then it drains just as fast. It took me a few changes to get fast at it but it’s not so bad. I’m not running a shop so it sounds to me like they just don’t want to do it. Sometimes, when a place quotes an outrageous figure, it just means they want you to go somewhere else. If you aren’t doing your own changes, you probably should just keep it stock so you don’t have issues with places that don’t like custom things.

    Have you done the oil change since installing valvomax oil drain plug?? Interested in seeing the oil change and seeing how long it takes to fully drain with hose.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Год назад +1

      Hi Carlos, I’ve done two oil changes since. I haven’t really timed it but I’d say it’s only slightly slower than draining without the tube with the added benefit that all of it drains right into my drain pan versus having to drape foil across the lower bar due to the design flaw. I literally just screw on the tube and out it flows. It’s no mess, no drip and very easy to do.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  3 года назад +1

      They make different sizes. It has a sweet ball bearing thing that only lets fluid past when you screw in the drain tube. Neat little contraption. Will make oil changes way easier.

    Did you test your quick drain before filling it up? Looks like it will hit the crossmember when you screw the hose on.

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 года назад +2

      I just did my 2nd oil change. The quick drain cable was fine. It is a little overlap but they include a nylon hose so you can flex it fine and it doesn't crimp.

    How long does it take to drain your pan? I've got a 2nd gen i get it up to 200 and drain for 40 minutes. A little more then 2.5 gal

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 года назад

      It drained for a while. I park on a slope which definitely helps a ton. Maybe 20 minutes before it was just a drip.

    Hey Adam, great video! Planning for my first oil change on my '23 Ecodiesel Ram 1500. How did you like the performance of the Motul X-Cess gen2? Are you planning on switching to a low/mid SAPs oil down the road (like Motul X-Clean gen 1 or 2)?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  Год назад +2

      Great question Chris, I should note I get 50% off Motul oils through their motorcycle sponsorship program so that obviously impacts my bias here but honestly I haven’t had any issues using this for so far, 4 oil changes. I have not done any oil analysis though so this is just gut feeling. As for switching over to X-Clean, I thought I checked that 2-3 months ago and it does not meet MS-12991 spec as required by Fiat for this motor. If I’m wrong, I’ll take a closer look at that.

    Hi Adam, thanks for making this video! I liked the Valvomax idea, so I got one. Did the oil change on my ‘21 EcoDiesel, reset the truck computer, everything very carefully. Next day I got on the road, drove 120 miles and the low oil pressure notification came on! Any idea what might have caused that? No leaks visible by filter or by the plug; even had the truck up on a lift at a shop and they said it looked clean. Thanks!

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. If there are no leaks and your dipstick shows oil within the top and bottom lines (min/max), the only other thing I’d check is that you tightened the oil fil cap & the oil filter. The fil cap just locks in place (doesn’t need tightening) but it’s possible the oil filter wasn’t seated fully? Unfortunately, you’ll have to unscrew it (let the oils rain down into the case) so that you don’t over tighten a cross-threaded filter but then reinstalling it to ensure you get to the right torque spec. Low oil pressure is usually under-filled but could also be a vacuum leak. So far 50K miles with Valvomax and about 7-8 oil changes and I have not received that warning yet.

      My driveway is on a slight grade so I always account for that when measuring fluids..oil and coolant always show a tiny bit low when I'm parked.

    Why did you change the oil filter and the housing, doesn't the filter element just pop out, and you pop a new element in the housing or is that they way it comes?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  3 года назад +4

      Nope, The Gen 3 EcoDiesel is one complete part. You cannot separate the paper filter from the housing. The price also went up 3X to $50-$100 depending on where you buy it just for the part. A step back from the previous iteration when all you had to do was buy a filter.

    Does this disel truck don’t have a fuel filter I’m curious?

    • @AdamChandler86
      @AdamChandler86  2 года назад +1

      It does have a fuel filter that should be changed every 20,000 miles. I did mine already and did not create a video as it was the first time but it was very straight forward to do.
