I love this man for him humbleness and his music. He has had a life working hard and has retained such sweetness in his voice and manner. His daughters are so devoted to him, that you know he was a wonderful father.
RIP Sixto Rodriguez ,This amazing man touched my heart when I first got to hear, read about and saw that film about his late discovery, Sixto was a great musician and human being, Sixto Rodriguezis now resting in eternal peace in heaven.
This is by far the best musical documentary/story I have ever watched....its one of those films you will watch a few times such an amazing story. What a guy Rodriguez is and his music is just out of this world. This documentary will move you.
I’m so sad that this incredible human is no longer with us, but at the same time, I am so grateful that he lived. I saw the documentary at a very turbulent time in my life, and it lifted me up and inspired me to keep going. Rodriguez really does come off as a “wandering spirit”, as one producer describes him in the film. He keenly observed the world around him and communicated his observations in the most poetic and beautiful way possible. His humility and warmth come through in every interview of him, and you can tell how special he was as a person by the way his daughters and friends speak of him. RIP Rodriguez and thank you for sharing your gift with us.
as a south african that grew up on this music, our parents played it at every get together - its still boggling to know that he was unknown in america - of course we never really had access to tv and the internet and spent most of our time riding elephants and hunting lions. id be embaressed as an american to have missed this. The words to all his songs, poetic. This guy was bigger than the beatles over here.
In times like the ones we are living in now with all the raw HATE it is refreshing to see and hear a man with this degree of humble thank you Rodriguez you restored my faith in humanity
Its crazy as a 90s kid. I look back on musical icons objectively. But this mans music is truly great. Its objectively awesome. I can see why he is so popular. Other big names, not so much 😊
The real story and discovery of Rodriguez wasn't by South Africans who just passed bootleg copy cassettes around and thought he was dead! It was Aussies who actually paid for and imported his records on mass from the USA and then locally released them, then paid him to come to tour Down Under in '79! No one called him Sixto btw... It was always Rodriguez or Rod, even to his bandmates etc. RiP Rodriguez ❤ I wonder how many times you had sex....
In all fairness as a teenager in Australia there was not a lot for a fan (far nth west) to go on.......promote the music, the doco is from a purely S African perspective - they had no idea of his Aussie fanbase
I think it mightve been nerves mainly. He doesn't seem like the extroverted type so television is probably a lot. And also I'm pretty sure his sense of sight isn't really that good. Even back when this video was posted.
Two tours in Australia which included a show in Sydney to close to 15,000 people in 1979...a best of album and a live album...16 sold out shows in 1981....all his albums went double platinum...and his 'Cold Fact' album is part of standard catalogue stock in all chart stores in Australia, even today....hardly complete obscurity methinks....but anyway you English and South Africans can believe whatever....people with a clue know the cold fact that this doco is pure myth making.....

So humble and sincere, The sincerity and humility that completely disappeared in our musicians and singers since 80s, is preserved in this man.

This guy was too pure for the music industry.

We were riding lions and eating elephants......
Some will win, some will lose, some were born to sing the blues. Perfect description of Rodriguez's life.
Just discovered Rodriguez in the documentary ‘Searching for Sugarman’. What a phenomenal story. So glad he’s had much deserved success.
It's refreshing to listen to his music, there are only a few artists from this generation that I like. His story is uplifting as well .
Fun seeing jimmy page in the audience, great respect for him :)

Silver magic ships you carry...

Did anyone else notice Jimmy Page in the crowd? I am pretty sure it is him in the second row, the first chair left to right.
Sir,most of them were high as kites when they decided how you supposedly died
''I'm gonna do crucify your mind, if that's Ok. ''
PLS ARE YOU KIDDING
His parents were Mexicans. He learned to be humble from them.
Rude not shaking jools hand 😂😂😂😂
How many others are just lost out there under your nose ?
Did anyone notice how he didn’t shake his hand? Is that just a big deal to me?
He was blind.

Why didn't he shake his hand? He obviously avoided it! He grabbed an ear instead!
Mindfield. He's afraid of germs??

Je ne suis pas là grace a Seb
Moi nn plus même si il est devant moi à la télé
Rodriquez -A huge message -if you believe in yourself don’t give up
Seb la frite?
I think because he hardly can see.
It is said that he is gettign blind. That is how most times he looks down, and not around.
Rodriguez's vision is not perfect, keep it in mind!
What the fuck is wrong with Jimmy Page? Not in the centre spotlight huh
incredible story, I think yanks just fucking discriminate him for being Mexican descendant
More than likely
i think Rodriquez is a very nice person who is getting intervieuwd by the opposit
handshake fail
lmao. its nothing new though. the english took blues from america and sold it back to them. at a time when muddy waters was painting houses

Some of those South African blondes from the audience are pretty hot...
Awkward handshake
