At 5:40 minutes into this video he is removing the gaskets rings for the spark plugs. The new gaskets rings I bought were just like his, but the old ones had a metal ring in them that was stuck in the hole. From the top of the cover I had to use a flat head screwdriver to catch the lip of the ring from the topside of the hole and then tap it with a hammer. Just a good smack on each side and the ring popped out. Now everything made sense. The clean out of the old gasket was easy and the new one went right in with some taps to a 30mm socket when placed on the rubber rings at final installation. So if u know it doesn’t look easy like what this guy is doing check for that metal ring, you should be able to
Feel that metal lip with your finger. Good luck guys and great video.
"carefully drive it in" bang bang bang haha. Thanks for the video, I needed to be sure the aluminum valve cover could take a beating like that.
THE WHAT????? 6:45
Beautiful video. One of the coils was drenched in oil. You skipped showing a solution to that in the video. I am in the middle of doing this exact job. I will follow your video when it’s time to put everything back.
How do you remove broken valve cover bolts?
It would’ve been nice if you showed the rear valve cover. There’s a wiring harness that makes reinstallation challenging.
Thank you kind sir
I could never seem to get the tube seals in right, I’ve tried using grease and something that fits over the seals perfectly but nope. One side always goes in more
I could use some suggestions on how to remove a gasket that wont budge. Its like its frozen in there. I got like an inch of it out in an hour and half. Got tired of messing with it so i stopped for the day.

never use a metal blade against your machined surface your gasket will meet up to.
it WILL put small pits and scratches into the metal which is enough to cause a leak underneath the gasket...
you can buy plastic scrapers that will work good for cleaning up the machined surface. Always use a material thats softer than the surface you are scraping against.
And is there one for the 2.3 f23a engine?
Same process just different screw locations
What is the torque spec on the bolts ?
6:05 What type of lubricant?
Mission Automotive Silicone Paste - yellow and black bottle
You’re changing the gaskets and spark plug , just leave the throttle body in and pull the 2 coolant holes instead. Dont you think is easier 😅 otherwise you need to collaborate the throttle again .
I thought you said should always do them in pairs from the beginning. Now you only did the front gasket, what about the back . Not a complete job 😅😅
Ya took the easy way out. Why didn’t you do back side. It’s much more challenging.
The valve cover bolt stripped on me
How many lb feet of torque to apply to the valve cover bolts and head?
