- In this harrowing tale of learning true leadership the hard way, I sat down with former Navy SEAL Jason Redman to talk about his story of coming back after being seriously wounded in combat and making the most of adversity. From Ranger School to Iraq, there's no shortage of great lessons learned and how to maximize opportunities from the adversity in this one.

A man who can go through all that and still light up my RUclips page with a smile is a man who live life to the fullest
Had the pleasure of meeting Jason a few yrs back while working a party for the "hope for the warriors" org they had an office where i worked as a supervisor for the building security ( I am retired from the NYPD). Reason I approached him is that a real good friend of mine served with him on SEAL Team 4. I admittedly name dropped, after a quick conversation he asked if I had my friends # which i gave. It was nice to re-connect the two of them. What was even more nice was that I had mentioned my parents were at the event and my pops is a US Marine, he asked me to introduce him and his wife to my parents...I returned to my work and over two hours later the four of them were still seated and shooting the shit. My parents both said that Jason and his wonderful life were two of the most real, genuine couple they had ever met. The three of us have read his first book (me before I met him, my parents after they met him). So Mike, if you get to reading this send him my families regards to he and his wife from, if he remembers, the retired cop with the big head that worked the party at 55 Water street in NYC that grew up with his teammate Brett H. If not I wil still watch and choke myself, maybe even at the same time. Everyone should watch, Jason is a very col dude and he has some F'n story to tell. PS I have said it before in you comments section, thank you so much for what you for the K9"s. I am a dog guy, have the pleasure of living with two of em now, rednose female pitbull and a frankenstein mix of pitbull, mastiff, boxer, and possible powerlifter haha
AMEN
Indeed. He's quite the patriot.
these patriots should be who sits in congress and run all of Americas highest government seats.

@Joanna Kingston you are very welcome What is funny is both my friend that served with Jason and myself barely graduated high school. It was just so boring, I got hired by the NYPD 2 yrs later at the age of 20, my friend joined the Navy 2 yrs later. He told me i got my head out of my ass 2yrs before he did
Wow, that doesn't surprise me having read his book years ago n again recently. Such a good guy, inspirational fore sure!
Thats a great story thank you for sharing the experience you shared with Jason and your parents and you!
After hearing Jason speak of his early difficulties he struggled with as a newly minted officer, I am totally blown away by his integrity and honesty in how he owned and overcame it!
What a tough "row to hoe" as my grandfather would say. He was also a WW2 Vet who was with the Rainbow division in Europe and helped liberate Dauchau on April 29th, 1945.
Thank you for your service!
@@donc9751 you are very welcome a the age of 20 in 1992 and being an NYPD cop i would have done that for free it was like going to the zoo and circus with no rules every day with your craziest best friends, I had to grow a pair real fast
How does he not have a million subscribers?!?!?
RUclips millennials who control social media now
I wonder this same thing daily. What a loss for the world.
Jocko literally just crossed over a million subs a few weeks ago... it’s gonna take Mike awhile to get there.
Everyone needs to spam JRE about getting on Mike Ritland , Shawn Ryan , and Mike Glover.
Wow. Fantastic Show. Thank you. Navy Vet here. What a story of highs, lows, then Highs! This man is a winner, and a hero! His story of desire, failure, lessons learned, and ultimately “Triumph” over adversity is proof that people can bounce back and overcome. Thanks for sharing it. 🙏👍🇺🇸
WELCOME BACK Mike, been missing Mic Drop my man. The world is now back on the level for me :)
And Jason Redman. Amazing story. I was glued to my phone for 3 hours!!!
God Bless the Mike Ritland show.
Mike Drop.
Jason Redman true legit Warrior Patriot and badass Navy Seal that is the living example of improvise adapt and overcome pain and suffering from the battlefield while living life to the fullest extent
Met Jay at an event in 'Naptown back in '14, he's a real authentic, humble and good dude. Took a lot of inspiration from reading his book and then meeting him at a dedication to a fallen SEAL.
One of my favorite things is hearing a genuine laugh, he's got a great laugh and a beautiful smile. Would have loved to hear a bit from his wife, she sounds amazing. ❤🙏🇺🇸 No shit, really great listen fellas.
Mr. Redman’s book is outstanding.
Alot of lessons to learn from this guy. Where do you begin? Humbleness and humility is the springboard for understanding leadership. I dont know how many in my life God has brought me down to the pit to put me back in prospective.
We can never repay you for your sacrifices. Please know how grateful we are for all that you have done for this country going thru hell and coming out the other side. God Bless you and your family for you are the true definition of a warrior and a patriot. Thank you for your service to this great country.
There are RUclips videos that are timeless. This is one of them because of his resilience
and message to those struggling. Here’s to a healthy 2024.
I'm in a rough spot, but you both have my respect ...If there were more people like you in the world; the world wouldn't be nearly as soft or as shitty as it has become
When you get to have your own ‘Young Jamie’ behind the scenes, you know you’ve hit the big time. 😉
Loving the podcasts, Mike! Jason Redman is a FASCINATING guest with an epic story. The lessons here are seemingly endless. Thank you both for making this available. 👏🏼🇺🇸
Jason looks good. I can't imagine the will (and skill) of those who probably had to drag him to get his plastic surgery done, because from all of the traits that he displays (also referring to the letter posted in his hospital room ie.'Don't feel sorry for me, I did what I love.....etc'), vanity never seemed to be at the top of his amazingly long list, but he deserves so much and more. He is by far one of my favorite Vet motivational speakers. Humble. Certain. Deliberate. No regrets. A true hero.
Welcome back Mike, look forward to hearing Mr. Redman’s story.
If there is one thing that I have learned from Mike and the incredible guests on the show...Its how important a sense of humor is. If you can laugh and smile through any situation in life...You are probably going to be alright.
So the 20+ that gave it a thumbs down must be other Team guys who love to give each other shit? Excellent as always Mike. Redman’s humility about his own failings in leadership was very raw and honest.
This was a Damn good show.. Jason Story shows If you stay strong you can Survive.. And Being Hard Headed Most times Bites you in the ass But Can help you learn a lot.. I love the Outlook on being good at training leaders because he failed.. That's so true...
My man doesn't have any Battle scars he has his battle badges of Honor, I love this dude's attitude I wish all Americans were like you 2
I want to thank you guys for all you have given to protect our way of life. I am a recovering addict and sometimes I have bad days and I want to do dumb shit. When I hear the stories of what you guys have had to deal with it motivates me to continue to fight and make my life better. Thank you
I find there's no better motivation and positivity as there is from Military guys.
Hey man I hope you’re still at it. I’m in recovery as well (07-03-2019 is my sober birthdate) and it gets easier and easier man
Me too brother. Clean of anything illegal over a year but I am still going to the methadone clinic every day. It's better than being strung out and doing what we do to survive that, but It's a never ending battle. I too get inspiration from these guys, especially when I'm feeling sorry for myself and having a pity party.
That 🇺🇸 behind Mike is carved so awesome!
Magic Mike is Back!!! Been waiting for another #MikeDrop
I worked in the ER at Speicher/Tikrit in 2006/2007, we had nurses assigned in Balad with the Air Force.. treated so many guys (good and bad) that I would love to find out how they are doing or if they even made it. Lost quite a few as well. Totally changed my life for the better to go through that. Nothing like Jason went through though. Amazing guy.
Thank you and God bless you both. This podcast was right on time. My brother committed suicide 10Dec2019 and my baby sister just overdosed 09Sep2020. I have never been so lost and heartbroken, along with the rest of my family. I wasn't able to sleep, checked my RUclips notifications and received this message. So, I thank you for being you and doing all you do.
May Creator Bless, Guide, and Bring you Peace!
🦅🌸🦅👵🏽👋🏾🦅🌸🦅🙏🏽
The most impacting PODCAST in history! The recollection of events are well worth the time, an amazing story of character, resilience and purpose. Jason is a fighter, American Hero and an example of what a leader should be. Mike's interviewing skills and sarcasm carried this interview beautifully. God Bless these "Point men for life"
Excellent! I love his story, especially the message/lesson that you can mess up but with the right attitude, you can redeem yourself. Resilience is the most important trait in these types.
I’m a long time fan of each of these spectacular men!! Wow! What a great episode I was having with drawls Mike! Lol! No matter how many times I’ve read or heard Jason’s story I’m still in AWE of him! Thank you gentlemen, for the continued sacrifice and allowing us to travel through the myriad of lessons and memories! The lessons y’all are teaching are creating a generation of men and women. Even helping “civilians” like me raise men and continue to fight through this life! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️
"Get off the X" is such an applicable principle in so many areas of our lives far beyond the tactical environment including personal and professional situations. Excellent interview as always!
Real hero here, Mike best interviewer in the internet.
Mike I love hearing theses stories man. I was a engine mechanic on the AC130U model gun ships around a lot of the times these hero’s tell their stories. Glad to know me wrenching on airplanes definitely impacted some lives
An Iraq veteran here brother and I’ll tell you we appreciated you guys more than you’ll ever know!!! Thank you for your service brother

You have no control over her sobriety but you need to get your kid(s) back. Prayers to you and to her. Yes, much respect to these men for their bravery and perseverence. Not everyone can go through what they did.

how'd things play out? If ya don't mind the nosey question. Is she off the dope? Do you get to be with your kid?
You have the best show around, very talented and very stand up human being
As a Retired SF soldier, I truly enjoyed listening to this interview. To listen to an accomplished SOF soldier opening up and admitting they made a mistake, especially as an Officer, is refreshing to listen to. All to often egos get in the way of reality, and hearing him reflect and understand his missteps is huge.
God bless you Mike, for giving these heroes a platform for dreadful Americans to learn about them, and hear their amazing stories. At 56 years old, I draw great strength and inspiration from these heroic stories of people like Jason!
Your a true American hero Jason. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice for this country. 🇺🇸
I know it’s gonna be a great day when I wake up to a new Mike Drop!
Please don't ever stop these awesome American hero's stories! You're doing a great service to these amazing humans
Your dog analogies are spot on for everyone!! Being a nurse it is all about when & where to show emotions.
What a tremendous story and person in Jason! Mike you were terrific also. MY reputation at work is somewhat shot. I'm very glad and inspired by Jason's story. I NOW look forward to the challenge of coming back full circle. Again, Great person in Jason and MIke you were great. I was fully absorbed in listening to this podcast. wow! it was great and so helpful! Thank you both!!
You will succeed-Great challenge here! God Bless 🦅🌸🦅👵🏽👋🏾🦅🌸🦅🪶🪶🪶
Good that he did not give up and keep fighting his demons and got on his way.
Nothing but Repsect for that guy.
“ Lead Yourself “- Simple but profound!
Great episode Mike and thanks to Jason for being a great guest and being so open and humble about his story, a lot of respect for this guy even before he described the events of his injury just for having the balls to admit his deficiencies and then how he turned it around 👍👍 respect bro
Awesome story and awesome to have Mike Drop back for sure!
Mike and Jason, thank you so much for this Podcast, this was a special one, what a POWERFUL MESSAGE.
Love Jason's brutal honesty.
One of the best podcasts I've ever heard/seen. Thank you Mike and Jason.
I love these so much man. I wear a hearing aid and couldn’t join anything. Thanks for shooting and posting these. Can never get enough of these.
Fantastic podcast, an amazing story of what it takes to overcome the adversities of war and come out the other end as a true badass. Hats off to Jason for being a true warrior and a great leader. Mike another exceptional job! it can't get more real than this podcast.
This man inspires greatness. Thank you.
My family has missed you Mike. We love you. You are a great American patriot. Thanks for all you have done and continue to do for our country. God Bless Mike Ritland and the USA.
I’ve missed you Mike! Can’t wait for this one! Jason is amazing and his story is inspiring! I know you’ve done your research and this will be epic!!
Holy hell. This was probably the best podcast episode I’ve ever listened to. What an incredible story of perseverance in the face of hardship.
This will be a heater! Thank you Mike for bringing us another high quality guest.
I love the back bowls at Vail too. Steep, deep snow, and long runs.
What a great guy and one tough guy mentally and physically
I'm so stoked for this episode. Thanks for the new content, Mike.
All of the Team Guys that Mike has on the show are the very tip of the tip of the spear, however Jason's story is an incredible testament to perseverance, never ever quit, his twelve hour hiatus from the Rangers aside, and as long as you have a breath, you're never ever out of the fight!!
More impressive than his incredible courage, insane drive and unimaginable resiliency is his candor and honesty. You just don't find guys(or gals) in today's world who are gonna, one, own their fvck-ups and two, lay em out there publicly for all to see. His humility regarding his Afghanistan disaster is very impressive as is the lesson that all can take from his experience. It's never over till it's over!!
He's a special kind of Warrior and thank the good Lord that we have Men like Jason Redman watchin our six🇺🇸
As always, Incredible vid Brotha👊
Continued Success🍻
RP
We can never have too much content like this. Great example and exchange 👍.
Thank you both for your continued service.
His life has been a rollercoaster and he keeps bouncing back up ... Overcome indeed!
Great interview. And those Ritlanisms put me on the floor a few times.
It’s 7am. First thing I do when I wake up is check MikeDrop. I need the next 12 hours to fly by!
I’m a little over two hours in and the more I listen the more I love this guy. What a great attitude, I wish I had an attitude this strong. What a great roll model.
excellent interview. Redman , your spirit is beyond that of a warrior.
You are a shinning example of why so few in this country have worn the uniform, even fewer that were elite. Thank you for your service.
Thank the Lord above that he gives us men like this to protect our great nation
One of your best podcasts ever thanks Mike and Jason.
I love the channel. Watched the whole way through. Keep it up brother
Goodness.....I am completely humbled and awestruck.
Tremendous interview! Whenever I find myself pissing and moaning about things in my life, along comes a story like Jason's. Kinda puts everything back into proper perspective.
As always, excellent interview. Amazing story!
'To be a good leader first you have to learn to lead yourself' - Genius. Thanks and I love skiing also
Thank you Jason for sharing your story! Thank you Mike for another great Mike Drop! You do a great job Mike!
Glad I found this channel recently! One of the best podcasts out there could listen to these daily. Keep it up Mike these are all awesome guests!!!
Always love your interviews Mike. This was absolutely one of my favorites. I’ve read and re-read The Trident. Looking forward to reading his other books. Keep up the good work. Appreciate all you do!!
I’ve had the honor too meet and speak with Jason 3 years ago.
Inspirational, honest and caring of others - what a guy! God bless Jason.
One hell of a guest and one hell of a story. This man saw a mistake owned up to it did a complete 180 and that takes one hell of a man (especially an officer lol) to do that. Then he survives the unthinkable to go on and raise a family and just be humble and smile. I applaud you sir you are a true badass.
Thinking about the transfer of pain to my son is what kept me from pulling the trigger several years ago! Thank you both for bringing this up in the podcast! Jason your story has and will continue to help so many of us that struggle daily!!!
Watching this one when I have interruptions have ceased..like a fine cigar..welcome back.
What a legend! Another great interview.
Your podcasts just get better and better. These are the best on yt
My favorite show when I was a kid hands down The A Team. My brother me and our friends were the A team lol!! We would go out on missions and break up into groups and play war. Best days
I like Mike. He is a very good humble guy from what I see on his podcasts. Keep up the good work Mike!!!
Humble and Hard. Thank You Redman and Ritland.
I could not have said it better about suicide. It does not end the pain it just gives it to our loved ones. Thanks for talking about it and having a number on screen for anyone who may need it. God Bless brothers.
Jason, thank you for your story! You have no idea how much I needed to hear this. You have humbled and inspired me. Another great podcast Mike!
Thank God your back! Jeez I needed my dose...
