IDP is $20 + 2 passport photos ($10-$20)...so the overall cost of an IDP is more than $20 but DO BUY ONE. Buy Hi-visibilty vests with reflective strips from a Thai Watsadu/Home Pro to wear while riding. Green is a good choice because the orange make you look like a motorcycle taxi...lol.

I was looking for something similar resource like this one for the mae hong song loop. Glad that I found it. Just a question, how did you guys manage the language barrier? Hey Dhruv thank you so much for being here and for your kind comment 🙏🏽🤗 Language barrier was not a problem at all. The longneck village people actually speak English well, at least the younger generation. But, you know the universal language (a smile & some hand gestures) will get you through. Also, Google translate will be your best friend. Most people you’ll meet will at least have a grasp of basic English 👍🏽You’ll have a blast! All in all, we felt safe in all the different communities/ cities we stayed in and just wished we took more time to explore. Take care and have fun doing the loop 🙌🏽🙌🏽🛵💨

For the loop,a bigger bike,250 to 500cc,is better.For around Chiang Mai a scooter is ok for town
It really depends on the person. A 125cc worked out for both of us within town and for the loop. But, if you love a more robust option, then more cc’s are available everywhere! 🤗
Lovely and informative video. Leaving from LA to thailand in a few days.. thinking about doing the loop in 4 or 5 days CW on a scooter. Do you think you can book accomodations on the day each day?
Hi Mihir so happy the video helped. Yes, have the agoda/booking/hostelworld/hotels app downloaded for better rates booking from cellphone. Definitely doable on the day of. Have a blast! Let us know how the loop goes we’d love to hear about it! 🙌🙌🏍️

I am planning on doing this loop in a couple days. Any advice for a solo traveler?
The best advice for a solo traveler that I can think of is: Always let someone know each leg of your trip with dates and possible accommodation info. Note down the bike rental company number for any breakdown issues. Ride safely and have a blast!
Will an automatic bike make it through the loop or do I need a semiautomatic bike.
