Although not released as a single, I think there were hype stickers on the cover of the debut album "Please" that mentioned 'I want a lover' (along with 'West end girls', 'Opportunities' and 'Love comes quickly'). It sure is a strong track, as most of Pet Shop Boys' songs are. Soooooo much more great stuff to discover, just dive in, Derek!
The funny thing is this song wasn't single material. Please had 4 singles: West End Girls, Love Comes Quickly, Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money) and Suburbia (this one you can consider it a single from the remixes album called Disco). If you love that, I'm sure you'll love Opportunities (there are 2 videos with different versions of the song) and Why Don't We Live Together? (from the same album, Please). This last one doesn't have a video but you'll love it), I'm sure of that.
Yup this is one of the best tracks from Please - I really liked this back in the day when I was at school, but all of Please and Actually are brilliant, and take me back to my 80s UK childhood ;-) Introspective is good too, further albums more patchy with some gems tho!

I would have subscribed by now but after your last PSB reaction I checked when the last PSB reaction was and it was 5 months in between… :/ and the video I found was this one that you barely got over the 10 minute mark. I wish you would talk longer about the song and not just please the algorithm.
