Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Depeche Mode reaction made possible by all of you with their 1987 song "Strangelove." Depeche Mode doesn't play around when it comes to sounds. Everything, I mean everything is obliterated in this track; even the lyrics! See my bananas go on fire now!

You can thank Alan Wilder for that gorgeous synth arrangement. He was a genius!
amen to that the architect of DM trademark layering sonic sounds.
80's and 90's Depeche Mode never disappointed ! Eargasms guaranteed!
_ V I O L A T O R
Alan Wilder was the X Factor
Absolument!!!!!!!!
@@glamourisbest, no doubt. without him dm wouldn't even exist today. i'm 101% sure about that.
I love how much you are loving DM! They are my all time favourite group, and don't think they ever got the recognition in North America that they deserved.
I really think DM is very popular , in America. Take a look on the live DVD , 101.
@@pascalmarfaing1690 it's no comparison to their popularity in Europe... while growing up I felt like I was the only one who liked them, or even knew any of their songs. I appreciate that their music still stands up today, and are being discovered and enjoyed by younger people
@@rculver101 I never heard of them until I went to Europe. I am from California and LOVE them.
In Canada also. I am from Québec and i saw their show in Montreal, Québec and Toronto Ontario, they fill those stadiums packed every time. I have been a DM fan for 35 years and now my boyfriend is also one of
The Greatest Techno Band in the world! The Biggest!! My love for them will never end.
The video of Strange Love was filmed in Paris. Look the beautiful Eiffel Tower ! In 1982 , Depeche Mode was in concert with the French band , Indochine. In the 80's , Depeche Mode was successful , first in France. They were in concert at Bercy , with 13000 people ! It was a premiere.
You can't get out of their '80s repertoire without looking at and reacting to "Master and Servant" official video.
If you've never seen DM live you haven't lived your fullest life yet. In fact, I'd say their live performances are a large part of why they were inducted into The R&R Hall of Fame.
Gives me thrills since '87 About that time I was 11 and started falling in love with their music. Never got bored.
Omg!! The remix is taking me back to the clubs! Depeche was the shit at the alt clubs or alt-themed nights in 1987... yeah we had alt clubs then...I first saw them in concert in Pittsburgh 1988 in a small basketball arena, seating capacity of 3,500...I lucked out and got same day just released tickets in the 2nd row...I think the remix was played on the radio too then
Damn I’m jealous, I live in Pittsburgh so that makes it cooler, which venue was it?
@MsRadar23 That first time I saw Depeche Mode was at the AJ Palumbo Center on Duquesne's campus. Front/Second row seats were released the morning of the concert and my friend scored 3 tickets. I believe the same year him and I saw The Information Society on CMU's campus in a ballroom! Crazy!
This was the first single from Music For The Masses. It followed Black Celebration which was as dark as anything they had ever done. I think this album brought that darkness to the dance floor. Phenomenal song from a phenomenal band.
Just wait until you react to SHAKE THE DISEASE, Dereck!
Agree! 👌😉
"Shake the disease" or "stripped" will blow him away
Nothing live. So sexy.
Dereck…..Thank you ….
DM for ever
In France we love DM
You are so brilliant and spontaneous dear Dereck.
Kisses from Paris
For sure, my favorite group of all time. So much power, so much meaning, so relaxing while invigorating at the same time. You could grab every album and go through every song and I'd be just as riveted as when i crank it up while I'm WFH. I would love to see a reaction to the "Cause and Effect" song, "You Think You Know Her." One of my sons friends confuses them with DM, but he still has plenty to learn.
Recorded in Suresnes near Paris. An other hit from this LP is "behind the weels" (especially remix version)
Fantastic brilliant awesome amazing band luv d mode seen um Serval times live and omg they are awesome 👌
You seen them live?! Wow lucky! ✌🏽
@@DereckReacts off course lol Duran Duran 65 times live brilliant awesome amazing band inxs erasure a-ha George Michael prince U2 rolling stones Keane omg my list is endless so so so bands artists solo festivals well in total over 500 gigs buddy luv my music keeps me going and Very happy!!!! Cheers buddy for replying hope ya better!!!! Luv ya reviews and ya actions and when ya banana cums on pmsl Keep up the fantastic work buddy 😃 ok well done
Question of time, Behind the wheel, Shake the disease, Stripped still left! You will go nuts i guarentte it specially with question of time! 😉 ❤
This song reminds me of my best days, Hollywood, CA
Saw them during Same Great Reward tour in March, 1985
The first release of Strangelove was the high BPM dance version, released as a single for clubs. Then the album version is slowed down. And this Remix is based on the album version. There is a more industrial remix that is more synth and aggressive. But the best IMHO, is still the first fast release for the clubs! This is one Depeche Mode's best songs. Iconic song of kinky sex.
My favorite DM. I just love all the textures.
When you see them great music they were always you see them when first live show
My favourite song!!!
Dereck I like you Depeche obssesion ... as I was teen, the same bro, they are absolute masters I was totally amazed ... as Sandra my teen dream I know you like much bro! She is just .... Ahhhh 😍. I have to tell you how was going in my school - 30% Sandra, 30% Depeche, 30% Metallica, 10% some other great at all ... I like all 120% as Madonna and much more!
I stumbled onto the Razormaid remix of this song 20 years ago. I still find it the best version.
🖤💜Depeche Mode🖤💜 One caress It's a beautiful gothic song from 1993
I meet Depeche Mode backstage in Austin for their Music for the Masses tour. This song had me dancing in every club on 6th street. So happy to see you enjoy this as much as I do! Love your channel by the way!
Sooo good!
My favourite Depeche Mode track
... yes !! now on to Master and Servant -
Check out Master and Servant, World in My Eyes and Shake the Disease
Hell yes!
Love DM & have a biased view for them, but I've also been into remixes since I was a teenager! Love the originals, but loved slightly different takes on the same song! Not just extended, but a pure remix! Thanks for doing both Dereck!😉😜
Oh you’d love Photographic from DM too 🙂👍🏻🎹🎹
Yay! Strangelove. One of my top 5 favorite songs of all time. 🌹
Always loved Depeche Mode. Strangelove is my favorite song of theirs. Thank you. Have most of their music.
This one is my favorite from DM, I love both versions, thanks for the cool reaction.
I will never forget the night "Flies on the Windscreen" was played on Miami Vice. My friend called me and we both lost our minds.
One of my favourite from DM.
I like both version.
Finally a banana dance 😁
If you want to do more mixes,
I just say: Stripped - Highland Mix. Autstanding!
This was the finest track and they did soooo many. Simply music for the masses and still a banger today 🎧
2 words: Aggro mix!
I imagine that the remix you should have reacted to is the Strangelove (Maxi-Mix), that the remix that was played at the time in clubs.
You also have the '87 remixes (Midi-Mix) (Blind Mix) and (Pain Mix).
The remix you have heard is practically the same version as the original.
I’ve been listening to them since 83, the first show I saw them for was the “ Black Celebration “ album tour in 1986.
Yes yes yes ...best reaction ever to this song! 😍and you are absolutely correct as far as arrangements...brought to you by genius Alan Wilder! Magic fingers..aka the boss
The instrumental is mostly Alan Wilder, I presume Martin Gore, too. Not sure what Andrew Fletcher did. Dave Gahan, I used to idolize that guy's voice. The Smiths, Morrissey, and Depeche were my first loves in music, I was a freshman in high school at the time. Depeche did a great song in 1985 called "Shake The Disease", you should hear it!
I can't stop dancing!
Their live concerts are great..DM best band ever
My fav DM song is Stripped with my fav album being Black Celebration.. but best album is music for the masses and violator.
All good ones. Love them!
Откуда такие вылезают? В таком возрасте и не слышать песни DM?? Они все с Луны, я Вам точно говорю)
Great reaction!! Next world in my eyes, behind the wheel, halo, dangerous
That nasty piano arrangement at the start & throughout that you refer to has always invoked in me a "thumb your nose" feeling.
one of the best
Depeche Mode has been in my all time top 3 bands alongwith ABBA and Duran Duran. Been a fan since I heard New Life, See You and one my favorites Depeche Mode song Leave In Silence (you should check it out especially the remixes). Never disappointed especially in the 80s and early 90s. Their music completely changed once Alan Wilder left the band and they became a kind of synth metal band but still loving their sound.
Fan fan fan tout est excellent Master and servant... etc.. fantastic DM
Strangelove has a lot of cool 12" remix, from Blind Mix , Pain Mix, Maxi mix and Highjack mix.. But this remix sounds like a blend of Blind Mix and the Single Mix and it's not on their official 12" vinyl.
12 inch were always the best played in clubs and much longer
Hi Derek, Awesome concept of reacting to the video and remix versions back to back. Depeche Mode have a lot of songs from the 80’s and 90’s where the album and remix versions are both great and different from each other! Great job with this idea!!! Thank you 👍
One of my favorite from them. I always dance on it.
Love the way the blind mix, extend the song without destroying the structure of It.
So many remixes loose the heart of songs with transforming them so much that it is in the end nothing to recognize from the original
DM forever! You should already have their poster in your background wall, just saying. Carry on with great reacts
I should!😍
The basses are perfect in this song
React to Policy of Truth, is soo great
Alan Wilder was the musician of the band, when he left, so did the music. All albums after Songs of faith and devotion are in a downward spiral. I gave Ultra and Exciter a try, but it does not sound as good as it should.
You HAVE TO react to "Little 15", also from the album Music for the Masses. You will not regret it.
My favorite is the Music for the Masses version
Blind Mix was always my favorite!
I first fell in love with DM after hearing Strangelove and they’ve been my favorite since. The Pain Remix is awesome too!
It's been claimed that Alan Wilder largely did the arrangements to Martin Gore's writing and ideas. Nevertheless the sounds have not dated as much some sounds of the club hits of the era have done. At the same time, the influence of Kraftwerk can be heard on the top of the snare drum sound, the whipping one which also appears as effect here and there, e.g 4:30 plus.
If you hear the demos, you'll realize Alan's role (while important), is a bit overstated by fans... in most cases, Martin's home demos have the majority of elements already present. Alan was great at enhancing, but he definitely wasn't a co-writer in any respect.
@@condemned1982 I am neither pro nor con on it and it is a common case of quarrels in any band.
in fact, the dated ones are out of context of the existence of alan wilder in the group, thankfully!
Policy of truth next possibly??
Love your observations, but I do think your lyrics that are an inherent aspect of Depeche Mode. “Because You Have To Make This Life, Livable”,That spoke to me decades ago. Part of that “ I am what I am” ethos, but with more dance ability vibes.
Or I’m totally wrong…
You should listen to 101 live
He Deeck, Thank you for the loving heart you gave me on my comment for CC Catch song. You made my day amigo :)
Besides my dream of you reacting to Micheal Cretu - Samuria, I strongly suggest you reaction to
Cameo - Word up. An absolute must breakdance of the '80s
DM is definetely a major group for music in the late 20th century
Both music, clearly recognisable, and lyrics, always full of desperate hope, reflect the violence of our time, the violence of relationships in our capitalistic world
You got to react to (julie london - fly me to the moon - best of smooth jazz) it's worth it 👌
Depeche Mode les gars ! 😁 Pour ma part, Bercy, Eurokéennes de Belfort et Stade de France. 🇫🇷
'Beat Me Hurt Me Show Me You Care! Dereck! This was my Super Fave in 1987 my college DJ Years. It packed the dancefloor! There are at least 10 remixes to this track. Probably more. The last official remix I bought on vinyl in 1990 or 1992 was titled ' Strangelove- The Final' Likely more unofficial remixes released. Cheers!
"Strangelove '88" has a video, too. lol. I'm gonna assume it's geo-blocked in the U.S.?
Oh! This is the Bomb the Bass remix, actually (also known as the Highjack remix): ruclips.net/video/LJDaJ5ipPHQ/видео.html
The best one, imo. Though you can't really go wrong with any version.
I had quite a few different 12" remixes of this song, and you picked my favorite version, thanks! I believe all of the Depeche Mode songs you've played all had remixes; all the remixes were wonderful. One more Depeche Mode suggestion for you, It's No Good from the Ultra album. Wonderful. I prefer the album version verses the video, the video shortchanges the opening of the song. Also you mention a remix by Bomb the Bass. Bomb the Bass was Tim Simenon, an English producer and musician. His song Beat Dis (extended version) included over 25 different samples and was incredible. He also did a cover of Say A Little Prayer For You, the old Dionne Warwick song, that was really great. It's all good stuff!!!
I’m pretty surer that was an extended version and not a true remix. The tempo really changes in sometimes of the many remixes that were created by various different people. Please listen to some of them and you can surely have a lot of material for another video. I’m completely sure you will LOVE some of the versions even more than the original!
Perfect
B-Movie - Nowhere Girl
The 80s & 90s remixes from DM are Top Notch! I always bought them. I would say better than the Album Version. All of their songs were big Dance hits! Keep them coming please! DM is my all-time favorite Band.
when you name the band members at 6:26 you miss ALAN WILDER who is the main reason DM has become THAT successful. without alan wilder you would probably have never got to know the band at all. seriously. i'm happy you react to these songs, but makes me incredibly sad that you didn't mention him. :( remember his name, please: the one and only ALAN WILDER. (btw, you mentioned andy flatcher at the keyboards who has absolutely NOTHING to do with the sound and dm music in general. he does nothing but clapping his hands on tours. the only one reason he's still in the band is that martin gore and him are lifelong friends.)
Is it just me who prefer the album version of Strangelove to the single version used in the video?
Adorei seu canal mano
Look around there’s a better house remix to this song. It’s a little faster and has more of a disco feel. Awesome
I love the maxi mix. A true extended version of the 87 version. I have a slight preference for the first version. Raw. Lots of layers of sounds.
Please react to Spargo- Just For You, or another Banger of them- You And Me
Depeche are at their best live. If you want 80s synth react to their 101 live, or perhaps 90's dark sound react to devotional live.
Wuaoo nice music
He he… DM heaven… thank you 🙏🏼 👊🏼
Awesome track from DM. My favorite from "Music for the Masses", along with "Never Let Me Down Again". The video has aged very well. I don't think the first video your reacted to is even the original version from the album...
Yes, it is the original
For 2022, I stil want/desire/enjoy a Fereck Reacts for :
_ Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (U2)
_ One Night in Bangkok (Murray Head)
_ Désir, désir (Laurent Voulzy x Véronique Jannot)
_ Passe... comme tu sais (Julia)
_ Luna (Alessandro Safina x Romano Musumarra)
_ Comment te dire adieu (Jimmy Sommerville x June Miles Kingston)
_ Dur dur d'être bébé (Jordy)... for the fun !?
A little bit of INXS, Richard Gotainer and some 90's techno hits (2 Unlimied, Latino Party, Ace of Base, Crystal Waters, S'Express...)
and more of Alain Chamfort, Björk, Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, MC Solaar, Yelle... and 80's songs
Yeah Depeche Mode & Bomb The Bass rules!
(J'ai super envie de me faire un petit xenon2 sur Amiga tout d'un coup)
Remix vs original is a great concept to continue for 80s songs. You really need to compare the Rock me Amadeus original vs the Salieri Remix to appreciate how a remix can make an good song into a classic (which is almost a different song...but the same). Depeche Mode and New Order have multiple versions of their remixes.
Looking forward to Pleasure, Little Treasure when it happens.
okay please react to the russian song ''плохая девочка'' by vintage !!! u would like it i think
I'll take this reaction like a Three Wise Men present, Derek. There's an american version for this song, you can search on RUclips. Different sound but charming as well.
I prefer the darker, slower 88 version
Hey Dereck what it the process to recommend videos to you. I love your reactions!!
Good remix but the "pain mix" is better.
