      Thanks so much, Kenneth! I really appreciate you tuning in. I agree, Hank is phenomenal, isn't he? If I could sound even a tenth as good as him, I'd be over the moon. It's truly astonishing how much intricacy and nuance the great players bring to their performances. Every time I study their techniques, I'm blown away by the depth of their skill.

    Great review, again learned some things which are very helpful in a life long chasing of ‘That Sound’. What still amazes me most is that Cliff and The Shadows were really young when they ‘invented this all. Already then Hanks playing and sound was totally unique in so many ways with so much detail. . They invented what many of us spend a whole lifetime even coming somewhat close in just copying that. By the way, without having to rob a bank one can actually get pretty close these days. I do love my Squier Classic Vibe 50, VOX AC10 and the faithful Yamaha Magic Stomp with Shadows patches. For less than 1K it gives me instant and constant Shadows fun.
    Cheers from one very happy Shads nut 🎸from Holland, Michael

      @@evergladesrhythm I esp. loved how you went through each of the knobs you used showing how small adjustments affected the sound. So many of these channels that review pedals either jst show the end product sound without showing how they got there. Or they crank a knob all the way up or all the way off to show what it does, without any appreciation of the subtle changes of the in-between positions. Your teaching method was far superior so now I have a much better understanding of what comprises Marvin's sound and what that pedal is capable of. Thanks again.

    You briefly mentioned the VOX AC30
    It’s also probably worth noting that the AC30 was built because of the Shadows.
    Hank and Bruce soon realised that they couldn’t tour the worlds stadiums with 15watts as anyone today would understand. Hank went to JMI with their concerns and the AC30 was the end result. That’s how the legend amp came about.

    The Strymon is fantastic, but it isn't possible to get Echomatic head timings. You just get as near as possible for each song echo, but always within the limitations of the unit.

    • @evergladesrhythm
      @evergladesrhythm  3 месяца назад

      That is true! There is not as much control over the individual head, but you can get fairly closing with the spacing dial and being able to turn he heads on and off with the feedback. It would be nice to have a real one though!

    • @evergladesrhythm
      @evergladesrhythm  28 дней назад

      For the shadows style stuff I have 2 g stings that I switch back and fourth, because some of the parts need a wound 3rd. Cheaper than having to buy 2 guitars 🤓

    A poor man's way of simulating a multi-head tape echo is to daisy-chain a couple (or more) simple delay pedals, and configure them to get that elusive sequence of echo patterns.

      Reach out to @strymon Those pedals are awesome so maybe there’s something going wrong

    • @evergladesrhythm
      @evergladesrhythm  12 дней назад

      Also as a starting point I would put it on the tape mode, set the recording level low, the wear knob high (75%) and just use one tape head and set the feedback to about 40%
      That will give you a nice analogue sound, then from there you can tweak, add more heads, change the settings etc.

      @@evergladesrhythm - He does have it now and Cliff says he did not give it to him, he borrowed it and never gave it back. Cliff said that he would have given it to Hank. What is remarkable is that Hank never thought it was his. Hank has just decided to let it go. Speaks more to Hank's character compared to Bruce's.
