haha i think the chemistry wasn't there which is why they split. was there for the writing of this album, but i think they all had creative differences and personality clashes. which is why a reunion is likely to never happen sadly :(
Both Fellsilent and Tesseract make me very very happy to have functioning ears. Along with Meshuggah, Monuments, and other bands with a similar style of sound. Stop arguing so much, people...
they owned at Belfast with Enter Shikari......i don't see why different genres can't play the same gig......they also played with Dj Pdex and it was amazing.....its bring more people together with different musical tastes
Awesome...you have to see these guys live..recently saw them support Malefice with Breedapart and they were amazing!! They had every head in the Bar Academy london bouncing. I hope they go far.
who wouldn't be influenced by any of those three bands now a days? it seems harder and harder to be "original" when everything has been done before. not impossible, just harder.
i agree polyrythm is just another great musical tool and quite a few bands use it.. if it had its own genre then you probably wouldnt complain about how you think it sounds like everything else... there are only so many chords you can play... and only so many ways you can play them ... i dread the day that we run out of ideas... such is the cycle.. fell silent is just one more example of excellent musicianship and a new twist on a widely regarded brutality.. if you dont like it dont comment!
It was about this time last year I started listening to them, I've been so put down about the fact they split up. We get TesseracT and Monuments out of the bargain though and TesseracT is shaping up to be my favourite new band.
fuck I wish this band was still going, don't get me wrong love tesseract n monuments, but shit one of the first albums got me into "djent" fuck this brings me back
Cheers for your comments guys, even if we dont agree with them all of the time its still good that people are talking :) Make sure you check the bands MySpace Blog for the scoop on the split etc
I sounds like a mixture of Meshuggah and Sikth. This is the first time I've this video and I can't help thinking that one of the singers actually is from Sikth
any djenty progressive metalcore between 2000-2015 when they didnt know what it was they just played it is some of the best of the genre. also aint no way volumes didnt get influenced by these guys
But also. The main writer for Fellsilent was Acle. and He created Tesseract. That's obviously guarantee why my statement would be previewed as correct.
urr.. I suppose they are using polyrhythms. But not really. Polyrhythms usually involve two rhythms of different timings unless I am mistaken. Here, they use the same rhythm over itself, only slightly shifted so that the onset of the first pattern occurs slightly after the upbeat. I always thought that polyrhythms were exclusive to varied rhythms, like psyopus's 'imogen's puzzle pt.1,' which has triplet eights over straight sixteenths and the like.
I love the gritty black and white of this video, and the raw production quality of the sound. It's djent before 3rd wave metalcore made djent into something overly refined and too serious. It has the same energy as God Forbid. I'd kill to see this type of prog come back
I think the raw production quality is from the video being low-quality, the RUclips Music auto-uploads of the rest of the album sound much better mix-wise
@fazzeh90 great anwser, and i would say the same under different circumstances. I was using textures as an example as a band that i prefer to meshuggah subjectively and that might also be on the same technical level objectively to make a point that it's not just meshuggah ruling the field and the rest of the bands being stupid counterfeits... thats all :)
@Gumbixxx well seeing as their EP, released in 2006 contained drowned in my enemy, age of deception, mindless self, and silence i don't see how thats possible. lol
@jwalts37 Well you'll be happy to hear that Neema seems to have gained those balls you mentioned, just listen to Monuments the band he's now in. You'll notice the difference.
@Gumbixxx mateimmerse was the last song written on the album. ill do some time lining for you. EP comes out 2006 with 1 vocalist. john browne says here in an interview ''Most of the stuff on 'the hidden words' was written with only 1 vocalist in mind, the only real song that shows what are intentions are for new stuff vocally is 'Immerse'. On newer material, the vocals will probably end up being a lot more chaotic and will interweave around rhythms with each other.'' joe joined late 06.... so..
@Gumbixxx but think through what you're saying. you saying they pup the mastered album versions of a song with 2 vocalists, before hes even joined, or the EP's even out? come on man common sense, ive been following these guys for years.
listen at about 2:26 on drowned in my enemy rhythm wise it sounds like the break down in soul burn at 4:30 check it out. agreed the sound nothing alike but they totally ripped that for like 3 seconds lol man i got nothing to do back to the studio
This band died to soon. The chemistry of these guys is beyond. I love Tesseract and Monuments but these guys together again would change my life
haha i think the chemistry wasn't there which is why they split. was there for the writing of this album, but i think they all had creative differences and personality clashes. which is why a reunion is likely to never happen sadly :(
And Heart of a Coward.
Right?
Nah, Monuments are above the top in this genre.
Yup
End of 2020 and still listening to this.. anyone else out there doing the same?
. 2022 now.. Still listening
Monuments just teased the fuck out of me with like 40 seconds of neema on the opening track. So here i am getting my neema fix.
2023... Listening since 2007.
Still listening in 2024, I see these live too
End of 2024 still listening to this. Yes.
'The Hidden Words' is one of the greatest albums going. Start to finish through that album EVERY song is incredible.
2:30
Concealing Fate Pt. 5 - Epiphany
This band created two band for revolution of djent in this world. Good jobs👍
Both Fellsilent and Tesseract make me very very happy to have functioning ears. Along with Meshuggah, Monuments, and other bands with a similar style of sound. Stop arguing so much, people...
Miss this band.
I'm addicted to this band..
Wow they're wearing Ion Dissonance tees! Respect!
I wore mine for years until it got shredded to pieces.
Killer video to a killer song for a killer band!
Holy shit.. in here from monuments... this is tight like poosie. Heavy as fuck from 2008 damn
yup yup i downloaded all their music last week, still searching more ^^ thx
Awesome.
they owned at Belfast with Enter Shikari......i don't see why different genres can't play the same gig......they also played with Dj Pdex and it was amazing.....its bring more people together with different musical tastes
amazing band! awesome video!
Awesome...you have to see these guys live..recently saw them support Malefice with Breedapart and they were amazing!! They had every head in the Bar Academy london bouncing. I hope they go far.
These guys are a fuckin perfect mix of technical, rythmical and heavy. Yeeeee.
i totally agree man music like this is like an acid trip, very technical band if you ask me.
genial!!!

They really said
No we are absolutely too sick, time to become 2 bands
didn't realise there was a proper video for this kl
Amazing band who's split created two more amazing bands,.
It was about this time last year I started listening to them, I've been so put down about the fact they split up. We get TesseracT and Monuments out of the bargain though and TesseracT is shaping up to be my favourite new band.
where the fuck has this band been all my life!
Good stuff Hacride and Tandjent aswel!
Textures are mint! it's a cross between them and sikth almost
Dammit, I want them back

Seen them live at an Enter Shikari gig and fuck they are AMAZING!
fuck I wish this band was still going, don't get me wrong love tesseract n monuments, but shit one of the first albums got me into "djent" fuck this brings me back
piecewise functions go hard bro
That outro is fucking brutal!
that break down sounds like soul burn shit is dope tho
meshuggah is one of fellsilents biggest influences. and yes both bands are fucken awsome
@21Bouncer yes indeed
i love the album, but i gotta say... the Double-A's demo is mixed SO much better than The Hidden Words, IMO.
12 years later…I still agree. The Hidden Words sounds a bit flat. The demos (although a bit rough) have the huge lower end where the groove dwells.
Very-very awesome! Ibanez 2077XL simply owns.
i saw these guys playing as support for enter shikari last october in cambridge fucking metal stuff =D
this song got me into math metal
i feckin love this tune!!1!! \m/
Agreed. Completely.
indeed !
Omg. No freakin' way.
vocal run from 1:06-1:13 is sick
ION DISSONANCE FTW! \m/
Djent at it's core
Cheers for your comments guys, even if we dont agree with them all of the time its still good that people are talking :)
Make sure you check the bands MySpace Blog for the scoop on the split etc
I've watched this soo many times... just realized the one vocalist is wearing an "investigate 9/11" shirt :D
fell silent are well gooood they ddnt copy messugah man they awsome
met the guitarist an vocalist at studio :) awsome guys!!
Monuments will never be the same without Neema.
I sounds like a mixture of Meshuggah and Sikth. This is the first time I've this video and I can't help thinking that one of the singers actually is from Sikth
This reminds me ALOT more of Old Tesseract than Monuments.
Yes.
gwan neema
any djenty progressive metalcore between 2000-2015 when they didnt know what it was they just played it is some of the best of the genre. also aint no way volumes didnt get influenced by these guys
Now its all gone,
IT'S PUMPING INSIDE,
Your black veins.
amazing :D
But also. The main writer for Fellsilent was Acle. and He created Tesseract. That's obviously guarantee why my statement would be previewed as correct.
i agree
The bass is awesome at 1:30 to 1:40
🔪💪🔥

This sounds like structures but better this is sick
As this band would pay for them Thordendal produced his recording ...
I still say my footage of Max mowing the lawn is better.. Sick video though lads.. might've even managed to make Browne look presentable ;)

@theWERRD
TesseracT were around the same time as fell silent. The riffs Acle wrote that they didn't use became Fell Silent riffs.
why would a band this good split ? wtfffffff :(
@fazzeh90
great anwser, and i would say the same under different circumstances. ATB is the sickest shit
Incredibly technical, awesome sound. The vocalists just kill it for me. Doesn't sound like screaming, sounds like whining.
@Gumbixxx well seeing as their EP, released in 2006 contained drowned in my enemy, age of deception, mindless self, and silence i don't see how thats possible. lol
1:14 - 1:40 sounds like a track I heard on Diablo 2 (the game). Anybody else feel the same?
Fellsilent are actually epic, its such a shame that they broke up
2:45 onward is so kickass
hell to the yeah. your so right.
whack in a bit of gojira and opeth and youve got the best bands ever.
Cool shirt.
@jwalts37 Well you'll be happy to hear that Neema seems to have gained those balls you mentioned, just listen to Monuments the band he's now in. You'll notice the difference.

@imapyro696 yeah the volume does mess about a bit, it's what happens when the processor in the computer or the modem is doing too much shizz at once
Wow
@underscoreisnotvalid Tesseract is Acle (guitarist on the left)'s band. Lol....
@Gumbixxx but think through what you're saying. you saying they pup the mastered album versions of a song with 2 vocalists, before hes even joined, or the EP's even out? come on man common sense, ive been following these guys for years.
Saw them with e.s aswell, they were fucking amazing! tbh i think they were better then the main rofl
listen at about 2:26 on drowned in my enemy rhythm wise it sounds like the break down in soul burn at 4:30 check it out. agreed the sound nothing alike but they totally ripped that for like 3 seconds lol man i got nothing to do back to the studio
NOW! its all gone!
ITS PUMPING INSIDE!!
your
black
VEINS!
haha i love it
that last breakdown is fuckin expert
Line 6 PODCore
@Gumbixxx they werent the first two songs haha!
fundamental djent band
oh god.. I think this is beginning of the djent
maybe not the beginning of the style, but the beginning of the scene
still fucking tuuuuune
Does browne dig bassists with dreads? Because that isn't Swanny, is it?
