@@AlphaPews I had two of the older storms that used 3 aaa, and currently two storm 350 that use 4aaa .. Looking for another with easy swap rechargeable batteries now .. I use and relay on my lamps every day
I bought a Storm 450 today. It's my first BD product. I like the features, but I'm concerned about the battery latch. Fingers crossed. Thanks for your review.
I believe its the low power setting once the batteries get low enough. I'm not sure if that's red or white output. but luckily it's easy to see the battery status and switch before they get low.
I've not tried in saltwater but I've got mine soaked many times this last winter and was fine. with saltwater but they advise to rise with fresh thoroughly same with watches and other tech
Has anybody used the BD 1500 Battery until they have noticed it lose significant capacity? Wondering how long it will last for before needed recharging. Guessing (2-3 years with regular use?)
I think 3 years is fair. usually it's the number of cycles e.g 500 rather than time that all companies tend to use. so less charging gives more life. I have some older petzl cells that are working strong many years later. I expect the BD will be no different
Have you had any issues with the battery latch breaking? I've just gotten mine and it feels like the cheapest plastic there is, but no breaking yet. However there are hundreds of reviews saying these break all the time - I'm not sure BD fixed it up in this 450lm model.
none for me. I did notice that with the battery cell, the battery can pop out slightly. but I carefully close it each time. latch has been solid and unit watertight also
I’ve just had my third Storm 450 latch break😖 so so disappointing! It’s the only one with green and blue lights, along with the standard red. Either it’s a design flaw, or it’s simply too cheap of plastic, as you mentioned
So you can't charge the battery pack thru the headlamp like the revolt does? The revolt is duel fuel but you can charge the battery pack inside the lamp without having to remove it. I don't see why they are going backwards.
there is a hook for the battery door. tilt the lamp down and then thr latch will when you push on it. be gentle as there are reports of snapping the battery latches
I've been using Black Diamond headlamps for many years, they are great! The company has amazing product support too.
couldn't agree more

my latch had been solid. apparently BD will sort any issues with zero fuss. how you finding the output?
Output is great, I really like it. Very cool features too.
@musicM0VESme I carry mine daily. its got me out-of trouble a few times now. I wouldn't be without it.
Being able to use regular batteries is great and I'm going to pick up a BD1500 rechargeable battery pack today.
@musicM0VESme that's my current setup. 1500 charged and spare AAA for backup. plus a USB charger to keep it going
the elastic band written black diamond is it reflective or does the letters glow in the dark?
glossy slightly. it's not unsightly or anything
@@AlphaPews tankyou
Can you explain what the 'Reserve' column means on the spec sheet? I'm not following what its trying to say

anytime my friend.
Do you have to open the battery compartment to recharge it for the lithium?
yep, as its designed to use both aaa and a lithium cell

I carry mine daily tho. it's my main task light and still loving it. my previous 350 spot is still going strong
@@AlphaPews aight fingers crossed mine won't pop out lol. Looking forward to trying it out while night climbing!
I think you will love the wide beam. it's really nice. powerful for sure. stay awesome 👌

The background music is extremely distracting.
noted. appreciate your feedback
Agreed
Does it use USB C or mini USB?
AAA batts! but the battery pack is a usb bd1800. so i use the pack and then alkaline batts for backups
they also sell a rechargable lamp with integrated battery but i wanted the dual fuel goodness. I'll check the charging lead for you.
