Idk whats going on with the Rockets social media since the draft but Reed Sheppard is a great addition. Im hearing that "we're already guard heavy, why are we choosing another guard" "reed bust" "terrible pick" seriously?....how are we guard heavy?
Last time i checked, Fred and Amen were the only true guards left on the roster after the season ended. And for the people saying this is a "sellout pick" or he'll be a bust obviously doesn't know what we need. The guy shot over 50% from the field goal and from 3 in college. Normally if you're a pretty good shooter in college, nowadays that translates really well to the nba. He's not only a shooter but he can handle the rock and initiate the offense, He's more of a traditional point guard, which is what we need, He's a perfect glue guy that can shoot, and learn alot of valuable things being an understudy of Fred and Ime'. He should do very well in Houston. Im happy with the pick.

It’s a disappointing fact you don’t seem to think the Rockets need rim protection. It’s also frustrating watching other teams bigs in the west get second chance baskets on put backs and their guards drive right into paint for layups. I know Steven Adams is better defensive player than AP but for how long. He’ll probably be able to help slow that down but a more modern day 5 would be nice. Go Rockets ❤

Clingan was one of the worst athletes at the combine (even among Centers). A 22 in vertical. Really? Glad we didn't take him.

Maybe 2nd round. Bona or the center from Oregon. At this point give me Bona. His defensive intensity and rebounding can’t be questioned.
@@drkwsherrill Clingan is a traditional 5, I said a more modern day NBA 5. Which is, a athletic rim protecting, perimeter defending, shot blocking, 3 pt. shooting big. I was referring another center who happened to get drafted.
Im expecting cason Wallace esqe results from reed his rookie season, a guy who's going to play 20-25 minutes per game, with very efficient numbers that'll get him on an all rookie team.

That really is disrespecting Nash and Paul who's handles are otherworldly and are first ballot HOF PGs for a reason. That being said I LOVE this pick and IF he wants it bad enough and works on his handles he could maybe one day sniff that rarified air.

Reed is going to do great. I don't see him as a Steve Nash type, but instead a more athletic version of Jeff Hornacek. Unlike Jeff who was average, Reed can actually defend. That fits RIGHT in with this Rockets team who gets after it on D.
He is going to be a star in this league simply because he such a great shooter. This is also going to give our other talented young guys way more space to operate in.
Generational shooting is going to fit in quite nicely on this team! Perfect fit but also solid value (for how weak this draft is).

Saying Reed can defend is a bit of a jump. He couldn't stay in front of pg's and that's essentially the main question mark with him. If he can actually do it at the NBA level, he'll be great for us.

Rockets need player who could effectively guard/stop Tatum, Doncic, Embiid and other big star players in the league.
He has a specific set of skills…..
He’s one of those guys that’s just super aggravating to play against and he’s picking your pocket. He’s in your passing lanes getting steals running down the court and banging threes, which is basically a menace on the court or picking you apart with passes obviously he’s not tall. However, the NBA game doesn’t necessarily need that you don’t need that to be successful in today’s NBA. A bunch of dudes are 6’5”+ that can’t hit 40% from field or from three. I don’t know much about Alex or Zachary.

It sucks that Stephon Castle went to the Spurs. I know he is going to do great there as well but honestly I feared Reed hitting endless 3's on us from Wemby's kickouts.
I think Reed makes more sense for us because Jalen might actually be our best primary ball handler, after Fred. Jalen has already shown he doesn't play super well off ball but can excel with the ball if he has good enough players and shooters around him.
The thing I was most worried about was a Dillingham/Wembanyama duo, thank goodness San Antonio traded Rob away 😅

Look, the kid has so many qualities and does so many high IQ things/plays that as a basketball fan, I totally identified. Plus, there's no pressure for him to start; this is where being mentored by FVV and Ime comes in. As you can see, Slam Whitmore loves the kid.
Stone is an elite, cutting edge GM...He is always showing the NBA how it is done.
He set up the first Analytics Department and ran it in the NBA under Morey.
Set the standard of getting control of all 7 years of another team's 1st round picks.
Then took those 7 Harden picks/swaps plus two other pick/swaps and turned them into 3 quality players and now he had 5 picks/swaps even though the 2021 swap did not convey.
Current Harden trade inventory...Could go down as the best trade in NBA history:

you do not know basketball at all. Who gives a fuck if he was eliminated in march madness, this is the NBA. He had one bad game and the Gohlke kid had a career day and they lost by a small margain. Hes a perfect fit for this team. He didnt have super high counting stats because he came off the bench, but he will be the best player in this class and will seamlessly replace FVV and be a perfect backcourt tandem for Amen thompson.

WOW, that first question was really stupid. You'd have thought we passed on Wemby based on that question. That reporter should rethink his education choices and consider a career change. Effortless shooting is also a talent.
I think Reed gets 15 minutes a game once he starts getting on the court, barring injuries. People wanting more of a role are setting themselves up for disappointment. There is only so many minutes and so many ball shares ad most of those are already earmarked for other players.
