- Twitch has added native support for viewers to enable closed captions (or subtitles) while watching livestreams. All you have to do is send that data to Twitch along with your video and audio. In this video, we'll go through the simplest method for setting that up in OBS Studio so that you can widen your reach as a creator and offer viewers the ability to enable subtitles for your stream.

I am actually someone who has closed captions on most videos I watch 🙂 it's because I want to watch a video but cannot have the volume up too loud and because of this I made sure I had closed captions installed on my OBS for my stream as I knew how handy it was for myself so I love this video to spread the word so that it helps other people 🙂
I don't watch youtube videos without CC, and now that it's becoming more common on twitch, I'm getting more excited. I lost a HUGE chunk of my hearing in the Army, and CC is the only way I can still properly enjoy video mediums. Thank you for this! Hopefully everyone sees it, and makes this the standard!
I honestly thought this was going to be one of those captions on screen at all times tutorials. I'm happy that it's fully customisable for the viewers! Accessibility and options are always a win and I'll be installing this too. :D
Yeah, totally agree. Giving your viewers the option to enable/disable is a big reason I'd love to see more channels using this.

Good video! I've been using this for a while myself and yeah, absolute no brainer. No performance hit, it's baked right into Twitch and most importantly for anyone worrying: it can be toggled off with a single click for the viewer (NOT "baked" into the video permanently). There's no downside and only a huge upside to being more accessible

That's genuinely amazing.. this will legit help anyone expand to a whole new spectrum of viewers. I want to also provide content for the deaf & hard of hearing. Can it make live caption but input would be from desktop (e.g. game cutscene) and it would also translate it from english to another language?
It's not bad for a beta, I switched over from Streamlabs OSB to Studio for the plugin because I don't like most of the extensions. My big wish for Twitch is to have live captioning how Otter AI does. It's awesome on Zoom, would love to see it on Twitch natively.

Is it possible to generate captions for multiple inputs? Say you have a remote guest on your stream, and you want to caption BOTH your voice AND theirs?
Great video, I didn’t know it was properly closed captions it produced, having tested other OBS solutions that do open subtitles (burned in). Now, if there was a way to also save a clean feed of the video stream
I guess two OBS instances with one being a virtual camera, or an NDI source, producing the clean feed, the second could act as a downstream key and do the streaming.
Hey @Gaming Careers! Did you check if Live Captions also work while using restream?
Is there anyway to make closed captioning default to off for viewers? It seems when using this method they are forced on and have to be manually turned off on Twitch.
I also have a GoXLR, but I cannot find mine in the sources like your tutorial provided.
Is there another way around it, or am I missing something?
For anyone like me who couldn't get this to work: Open the folder you downloaded. You'll see a folder that says "obs-plugins." You'll then see 2 folders: 32bit and 64bit. I'm using OBS 64bit, so that's the folder I'm using. In that folder you'll see a .dll file. Copy that file. Next, go to your OBS folder. You're looking for obs-studio (like the video said, should be Local Disk (C:) -> Program Files -> obs-studio.) Then open up the obs-plugins folder. Open the (in my case) 64bit folder. Paste your .dll file in there. Everything should work properly now.

I double checked to make sure I did this correctly, and I do have the file in the correct folder. Version is now 0.20. But for some reason, I still am unable to see the Cloud Closed Captions. Would you possibly know a fix to that, or know why it's not working? I can't find out about it anywere. Sorry this comment comes 9 months later lol
@@LadyKubia Usually when someone isn't seeing a plugin showing up in OBS, it's a Visual C++ issue. Make sure you have the latest supported x64 VC runtime, then restart OBS.
Thanks Pete, great video. Unfortunately CC only works for a minute or so before it stops completely. I've tried reinstalling the plug in and putting the .dll file in to the OBS folder manually but to no avail.

I added the zip file to the folder you recommended, and for some reason it won't add that option under tools
is there something similar for SLABS? I can't seem to figure out if this is compatible with it. and if it is, I can't find where to 'configure' it

As I speak English in my chat box but I have a friend who is Italian but doesn't understand English, so they copy what I say in English and post into Google translator then reply back to me in English using Google Translator.

I sadly can't get it to work, I've watched different videos but the issue I have is it doesn't seem to pick up my mic under preview, my mic works it just doesn't seem to want to be picked up with this plugin, I've renamed it, added it as a source and still wont get picked up, even just for testing and whilst live. Any help would be amazing! I'm using the Yeti X.

Does this not work with Amd H.264? I streamed and it didn't show the cc button but it was showing in obs. Going to try x264 on my next stream but worried the quality wont be as good.

Hey Gaming Careers! Thank you for the best videos. I have a slight problem tho and it's wrecking my brain so to speak haha. The captions go on and the button appears and we are all good. Next thing is the just by themselves disappear and the button also vanishes. In a few min they come back again haha, then they disappear again. What could be the issue? RUclips Mobile bullies me to have captions on on every non-german video, which means I either tell the app I'm not from germany - which means I get subtitles on german videos then - or I'll have to manually disable captions on every other video, just because the app doesn't allow you to disable captions alltogether. :/
