Very noticible was the presentation of flowers to the musicians. Very seldom does this happen in America which let its great jazz music fade away. Bravo to the wonderful audience and the sparkling performance by the world's greatest piano.

Jamal, ALL of these men are on fire! Why can't people get this fabulous music on the radio? It's always the same old same old on every station. These men studied their instrument, can play any kind of GOOD music and we reap the benefit. These men were not out of someone's garage pretending to play music. These are the REAL music makers and the songs are OH so great!

“Mostly, he wanted to leave his music behind. He knew that he had a great legacy of his compositions and recordings and performances and that’s what he was proud of. He was always looking toward the future, but not as far as what his legacy would be, more how he could challenge himself, how he could play it better the next time, what piece he was going to write. I think that has a lot to say about his humility.” Kelly Peterson - Wife

In spite of the difficult days in Prague during the 1960s, the audience was very fortunate to be able to see this on their TV. It speaks volumes that the audience was so appreciative of this music which must have been frowned upon by the ruling elite at this time.

Check out Bobby Durhams drumming on the 1969 "Hello Herbie" album with Oscar Peterson, Sam Jones and Jazz-guitar great Herbie Ellis. One number called 'Day By Day', features Durham playing the coolest Bossa Nova drum tapping and brush combination ever recorded. The drum taps that sound like rapid clicks, are layered over sweeping brushwork that fills out the rhythm, as legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson would say, "Filling it" beyond what’s possible.
