Everybody is selling very high priced crap now. Really, name one manufacturer that isn't. Dodges and Jeeps are the worst, Ford has problems, and now, toyota building grenades. Never thought it would drag down Toyota. Better part of $100K for a top tier truck is a bad joke for people whose wages have not kept up with inflation ever since Reagan gave us "Trickle Down" and "Greed is Good" capitalism.

I bought a used 2021 Tacoma almost a year ago. My first Toyota. It had 37k miles on it. SO GLAD I went used instead of listening to the salesman and waiting on a 2024 or trying to go with a new Tundra. I’m loving my V6 Tacoma so far.

They could have improved efficiency and gas mileage and kept the reliability. The 3.5 and 4.0 were 15 year old motors. They just decided not to. Turbos can be reliable its the build quality that is disappointing. Could have hybridized the existing motors and tuned them down or went 2.5 electric. Put a heavier transmission. BUMP STOPS.

    • @MrTheKing
      @MrTheKing 4 месяца назад +15

The reason they changed the engine was not because it was old but because of stricter emission regulations. A 2021 V8 Tundra produces 601 grams of greenhouse gas emissions per mile, and a 2024 Tundra produces 459 grams per mile. I agree they should have kept the old V6 and V8 because they were tough but I mean they had a reason they had to change. I’d bet if it weren’t for the changing laws they would still use the old engines

@@MrTheKing it’s really unfortunate they are kind of forced to make the change. Less reliable vehicles are likely less environmentally friendly. 1. They dropped the V6 for basically 1mpg better.
    2. They added an 8 speed auto for 1 mpg better.
    3. They made the gas tank 3 gallons smaller so the range is still the same, negates any improvement because you still have to stop just as often.
    4. Force you to spend 4-8k for a trailer brake controller, which adds so any options it kills payload.

GM is just as bad. The 2.7 L V6 turbo from Ford 2nd GEN is very reliable thus far. Unfortunately the costs are increasing dramatically on all vehicles. If you are a Toyota guy I would consider the new Nissan??? I think Toyota will turn this around in 25/26. Ford and GM are still making V6 and V8 engines, which I think is a good thing. COVID and the deteriorating Governments unfortunately had a huge negative impact on the world as we knew it and the effects will be felt for years to come. The vehicle industry need to not prioritize the Government rebates and do what they know best, rather than trying to push a square peg into a round hole!

Of course the new Tundras have low end torque why because of the turbo any forced air injection engine is going to give you lower end torque however again with any Force injection engine it will not last like a naturally aspirated will you can talk about all the pretty things that Toyota has done to the tundra and Tacoma but if the tranny don't work and the engine don't go it's just a paperweight

Toyota should bring the Hilux Champ.
1000kg load, very basic and plastic single cab barebone work truck, no fancy electronics, basic and reliable.
    A 2.0 or 2.7 gas engine, a 2.4 diesel, manual or automatic.
    Thailand price 13000 dollar
    U.K price 14000 pounds
With bigger wheels and a liftkit you,re paying around or under 20000 dollar.
They will crush the work truck market.
Take the 2.4 diesel engine and you have the most reliable work truck, like the Toyota Landcruiser 70 series.
Other brands should follow Toyota then, because the bedload is 1000KG.

The D41 Nissan Frontier with 3.8L V6 is the best decision I've made. Love my Pro4X. 25 mpg highway @70_75 mph or less.

Ok, 2 things. 1)Toyota had a reputation for reliability and ease of maintenance. They both got thrown out the window. Shame on you Toyota. 2) Those Brunt work shoes dont have any tread worth speaking of. Non slip tread will only get you so far without deeply lugged soles. Comfort out of the box means they will wear out sooner than you want them to and if recent prices are any indication, they are too expensive for what you get.

This is what happens when Toyota trying to make "new" products. All they did was using old proven technolgy and only updating it for 15, 20 plus years. Therefore, they were "reliable" Now they have develope new tech like most others and see what happens. Toyota wasnt way better then others they just been doing dont fix it if it aint broke for really long time.

Brunt boots need to make a slip-on style like sketchers.
I love sketchers because they are so comfortable easy to slip on and off.

Toyota is now considered junk and the Dealerships are viewed as thieves. What a combination. The reliability is GONE.

I bought a loaded 2024 Pro4X in April in Boulder Pearl gray. Got a great cost off msrp with no adders. Great truck so far but it should be a little taller for for the PRO.

Meant to add I bought the Pro4x for the exact reasons you just laid out. Cost and reliability.
We enjoy your videos. Very informative.

I bought a new 1992 Toyota pickup - six cylinder, fwd. I sold it in 2022. It had skin cancer but otherwise never failed me.
Today, I would not touch a Toyota. They have spent decades resting on their laurels. Curses to Toyota, I want to buy a new one, but that would make me a moron.
