Wow, I didn’t actually expect you to make a video of building on the edge of the world! It was just one of those things that I was curious about. Awesome!
Capp00 it wouldn’t be a bad idea to cheat on like a PVP server and keep all your stuff in a little shack like this though! Away from your own base. Nobody would ever find it!
I was actually just about to try this after someone had commented about it on the other Radiation video. Thanks for doing this, you just saved me from a huge amount of wasted time, effort, and disappointment!
1 Get a full piece of 600 hazmat suit 2 bring medkits and build a base on the edge of the world like you did 3 Put a bridge out from your base 4 put ladders on the edge of the world 5 stay at the tip of your bridge (dont do leap of faith tho) 6 let the zombie horde run towards you and watch them as they fall off from the edge
I got an idea for you, maybe I'm stupid and you got a site somewhere where people write you some of their ideas, but I'm just gonna write it here... I have been watching alot of 7dtd tutorials from you and they are just great, but there is still some things that could get intresting, like: 1. How about testing Bears? -Will they first attack zombie, animal or you? - And if zombies will attack bear... 2. The Trader. -Try out what is the loot behind the trader (because he got safe and bookshelf out of searching range). -What will happen If there is a horde coming to his place and - when can you know that traded is not intrested in buying your things anymore... Thanks for reading my ideas:)
Animals don't trigger (or get triggered by) zombies in vanilla, i could be wrong but that's usually a modded thing. Loot behind trader counter is only accessible with no clipping enabled(I tried ALL angles possible) and even then only to get what's inside bookcases (loot is same as all other bookcases according to player lvl). The safes are all locked and can't be opened since they can't be damaged. And most traders (from my exp) have a buy max of 3 of the same items(non stack-able or 3 full stacks of ....stack-ables) that resets on restock days. Roaming hordes either pass by if you're inside during business hours or just hit at the walls if they sense a player inside. But since the walls can't be damaged nothing really happens, unless you're in a trader that has traps around then they take damage and eventually die. 7th day horde is a non issue since you can't be inside the trader perimeter after 10PM.
Soviet Fighter10 you're welcome, and could be a thing, been a while since I've played vanilla and I have seen bears attack zombies but I'm very inclined to believe that it was in modes versions...maybe he will test it. Also I just remembered that the trader with the tree house looking place(bob or joel...can't recall name, the polite one with the cowboy hat) has an easy to reach bookcase behind his front desk, can be accessed from the right side, no cheating required.
I actually decided to test the 16.4 radiation zone myself a bit in Creative Mode after watching the under/over video... I learned a few things. First, you can increase the radiation protection of your Hazmat suit pieces to 100% by maxing out I believe the Clothing/Armor skill. Second, you can take no damage in the radiation zone, but it REQUIRES that you be wearing the FULL suit with each piece at 100%. It doesn't count just having "the same total percentage" using other items. You do also still have the blood splatter effect, but don't actually take the damage.
Cap or anyone, do zombies spawn on the radiation zone? I mean, if you build your base on the border between a biome and the radiation zone, and it was horde night, will zombies only spawn from one direction, or will they still spawn from all directions like always? Thanks, by the way, for these Mythbusters-esque 7DTD vids!
I haven't tested this, but I don't believe they will spawn there if you put your base right on the border, mostly because the spawn algorithm has them spawn in a certain distance away from your location, and the radiation zone isn't big enough to provide enough space. But again, I haven't tested that myself.
first : you took over my base idea !! second : I had to do a simple mod to stop taking damage in the rad zone . third : zombies don't spawn inside the rad zone and that distance between the your base and the rad zone exit is enough to stop zombies from detecting you .
Hey capp awesome vid as usual. I play on console so I'm not sure it carries over to PC, but when tracking animals into the radiation zone (when they run in I stay out) they will die. I know you didn't try animals, but just a FYI comment. Keep em coming man.....take care
Hi Cap, I was wondering if wolves, boars, deers and bears are taking damage in the radiation zone. Since they aren't affected due to radiation, I was thinking it would work the same with a player.
He was getting damage in radiation zone because he didn't have 100% radiantion protection, somebody would already have in mind, right know and they were half right... Hazmat clothes do give you radiation protection but not to 100% , even if they were all 600 you would get only 80% protection. I maxed out every cloth which had the most radiantion protection an combined it with Hazmat cloths that I was already wearing... The result was 102% for radiantion protection. But even with that I still got damaged in the radiantioned zone...so yeah, after that I gave up on radiantion protection because there is no use of it...
2 videos and you still don't get the fact that he was trying to explain you are going to take damage in the radiation zone no matter what. They did that on purpose to keep you from reaching the edge of the map.
Capp00 again another educational an interesting video, and may I also say thanks to your videos iv recently purchased 7-DAYS-TO-DIE for my xbox and I'm really enjoying it, just had my second horde night an still going strong haha. But my main point is have you done any videos on growing trees in the desert biom, was watching your top Base locations and considered moving to the football grounds as a long term base location and was planning to plant a forest. Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much, glad you enjoy them :) I haven't planted trees in the desert from a sapling, so I don't really know exactly. I think, they would grow just fine if you planted them in dirt, not sand though.
Capp00 nice one thanks, I had suspected that would be the solution, but didn't want to drag a load o soil an saplings over their for no payoff haha. Cheers for the response and the videos.
You can wear some extra pieces of armor on top of the hazmat suit to get some extra radiation protection. The radiation zone in random gen DOES have POI's. I've confirmed it myself.
Speaking of horde night in relation to my previous comment how does horde night work? I've been hearing things like if you face North, all the zombies would come from the North. Or if you face North all the zombies would come from the south.?
It's all random. There isn't a line of code I can look at to determine. It's all based on the players location, but I don't have a way to find out for sure if they are coming from a specific direction or not.
Well it kinda makes it realistic.. as a player, a living being you are talking damage to living tissue where as a zombie... it's already dead.. once your dead you can't become more dead.. I have an idea, what about that floating base idea in the air outside the zone? if it's possible..
TL;DR = How does pathing works in buildings with more than 1 floor? I have an idea for a pathing test, but I'm not sure if I'll able to describe it properly. Here it goes. I've seen your videos on normal pathing, but all your constructions were "2D", meaning, a single floor. Doors, traps and all kind of stuff, but still only one floor. Could you design a simple maze with 2 or even more floors? The idea would be to see how the pathing works in that way. Picture a path that starts at ground level and goes without barriers to a 2nd floor and then back down to base level. Would zombies climb up and then back down, or would they just bash up on the walls? Or a simpler test, if there's a ramp that leads to the 2nd floor and you're in the 1st, would zombies go to the 2nd floor first and then to you? The objetive is to create a very compact death maze for horde nights, where zombies just stream into your maze, that, while compact, it's also long due to it having more than 1 floor. Hope I made myself clear... I apologize for the wall-o-text
I sure would. I love doing Q&A vids. Haven't done one in a little while. The last one I did, didn't really do so well, but you awesome people have been far more supportive and active on the channel recently, maybe a new one would do great. I'll let everyone know if I'm going to so we can prepare :)
Do they spawn naturally in the rad zone? or do a video on typical zombie spawn distance from you, or if it's effected by pathing / distance at all. Also huge base theory, will they just spawn in the base? Also I saw a video that zombies like spawning in buildings?
I ceartinly enjoy your content, quick and straight to the point. I have an request/suggestion about displaying more with what modifying the xml file can do like with the increase to swim speed. Its a very handy thing to know when dealing with parts that can annoy ceartin people like swapping out zombie animals to normal zeds for the people who are not into that. It would give people better insight on how to personalize their experience Otherwise you could just show some histerical stuff like messing with swing speed
Oh man, it was horde night. Would have loved to see if the radiation zone made any difference to what they would have done! More interesting tips and tricks. Thanks as always!
I don't think it would have changed anything, since they didn't take any damage at all during the day. There would just be a larger group chasing me around the radiation zone :)
nope, they cant see you in the radiation zone, already tested myself. if you are on the other side of the radiation zone you stay invisible to the zombies during hoard night. i was hoping myself to test a method which made zombies fall of the map but instead i found zombies dont even know you are there during hoard night.
I was wondering something, can zombies spawn in the radiation Zone? Like if you were to build your base near the edge before the radiation Zone. Would you have any zombie spawn in the radiation area and come up to you to your base? Maybe something to test out during horde night?
Is there a possibility getting hit with no radiation? Like with a max hazmat suit and like rad resistance? Something to keep you from taking damage from radiation zones?
Hey Capp00, your vids are always informative. I've been wondering is it more efficient to level up by mining from day1 and put all your skill points into Scavenge and then start looting for books n weapons or does it not matter so just start looting and hope to get good rng?
I don't know the statistics on that one. More player experience than anything. RNG is always going to be a big part in what you get. You'd be better off putting your early skill points in survival categories.
Wait have you tried a base on the edge built down below the ground level. So when the zombies are stomping around up there they fall off or just sit up there? Edit: like make a tunnel from both sides and have the base haning off the side of the map. So you are safe from people and the zombies walk off of your base trying to find a way in.
I haven't. I'm assuming if the zombies actually saw you, they would just walk to the edge and stop. Their pathfinding AI prevents them from simply walking off into a hole without something like a ladder piece or a pressure plate to throw them off.
Hey! Thanks for going back and testing the radiation suit. Great video. :D Quick question... Do irradiated zombies act differently in this area such as regenerate health/do more damage, etc?
Thank you very much :D They don't "act" differently, they just look differently and can irradiate you if they hit you. Similar to the ember zombies being able to do fire damage to you if they hit you.
I know this is late but you can survive in the rad zone if you wear extra clothes like iron armor over the rad suit until you reach 102% rad protection you will see the damage animation but none will be taken
I googled navezgane full map and in the map it shows a big crater looking thing on the bottom left of the map and four roads lead to it but its in the radiation zone, anyone knows what that might be??
It used to be a section that had a small town in it and you could get to it with a radiation suit. But they changed that several versions ago and it doesn't appear anymore.
I would love to see a comparative video of different types of horde bases. ((FYI, i think the chair wall got patched because it's not working for me anymore)) I would love to see if it is better to have a fall pit, or a wall of wedge tips and poles... i keep searching RUclips for the best base ideas and would love to see your thoughts of their strengths and weaknesses.
Hey Capp00 - totally unrelated, but I had an idea for your merch. Why don’t you make a shirt that something like “Sylvia tested, Capp approved.” Or something like that. I’d buy that. I’m now finding that I call the nurse Sylvia, and the other female zombie Marleen. LOL. Enjoy your vids.
I was going to post this as a suggestion but here works since it's related, does that floating drawbridge idea work horizontally? And if yes, since you're already there, do a followup and try that at the edge. See if you can just stand on your base and watch a horde just keep plummeting to their abyss. Also test animals since everyone keeps asking :) full ep idea right there. Nice work btw
I have done LOTS of other games on the channel. Horror games, sports game, shooters, racing, co-op, etc.. Most of them tank terribly. I'm very glad you enjoy the videos though.
There is a gas mask as well that gives good rad resistance but that doesn't matter, even if your rad resistance in your stat screen is 100% you still take damage
Capp00 I belive it is coded something like x+y=damage/sec where x can be reduced by rad resistance but y is there to be min damage. I have modified the rad suit to be 500%ish for a full suit and still took damage. Also when I explored the rad zone in god mode in vanilla a16 it kept generating infinitely for me not sure why me and not a friend I was playing with but doesn't matter there was nothing but some lootless small poi and dirt

Capp00 is it possible to get pregnant in the radiation zone? I think my GF might be cheating on me with Moe..... :(
That's sad to hear. I believe you can, but the baby might be born with 4 arms.
Cap I love your 7 days to die mythbusting!! Thank you for sound these, your the only RUclipsr that does these.
Thank you very much. I'm so glad you enjoy them :D
Legend has it that if you are early you will get a heart
I don't doll out hearts based on attendance. I base it on awesomeness of the comment, or if it makes me laugh :)
I was really bored then suddenly I just got a notification saying Cappo uploaded a new video. My mood changed to HAPPY :)
Glad I could change your mood :)
Capp00 :)

True, true. But if you didn't have God mode enabled, you'd probably die trying to make it :)
Capp00 yeah you’d definitely have to cheat. Or somehow get a full 600 suit which is impossible without cheating anyways, and a bunch of med kits.
I was actually just about to try this after someone had commented about it on the other Radiation video. Thanks for doing this, you just saved me from a huge amount of wasted time, effort, and disappointment!
Glad I could help, :)
1 Get a full piece of 600 hazmat suit
2 bring medkits and build a base on the edge of the world like you did
3 Put a bridge out from your base
4 put ladders on the edge of the world
5 stay at the tip of your bridge (dont do leap of faith tho)

Flav M well thanks for answering)
Flav M But still...if Bear got some zombies in his way he will attack them or even kill them.

Ha great way to speed up time while playing a game where boats do 9 knots and stuff is like 18 km apart! Awesome video thanks for your time
There is an occasional glitch on console where no aloe will spawn in the world... Found it out 8 hours in rip.

I know it doesn't pertain to the test, but is there a kill all entities command?
Yes, I use it all the time in testing. It's just "killall", one word.
Thanks. :)
How high can you build "floating house" drawbridge, as in stack upwards ( _ _ _ _ _ _ )?
Assuming you get the stacking right to where it doesn't fall down, the highest you can build upwards is around 192 blocks from ground level.
The 🐷 I was hunting ran into the radiation zone and it died. :-(
Great ! Maybe you could try to see what happens if a kinda heavy horde comes to you at the edge of the world
Thanks for the suggestion :)
As always great vid Capp. And No "Tom Foolery".. HAHA i love those words.
Thanks bud! :)
Could use beyond the radiation zone to protect your stuff from other players. Of course have another base to fight the horde.
Definitely, if you can survive it to get over there :)
Cap00 before going to bed is what i need. Keep this going. Greets from Germany!
Hello from Texas :)
Can you test zombies killing the trader please. I want to see him get eaten by the Zs for ripping me off all the time.
lol.I hear ya.
Building at the end of radiation zone would be useful to hide from people trying to kill you if their going on a manhunt.
It sure would :)
Hey! Thanks for going back and testing the radiation suit.
Great video. :D
Quick question... Do irradiated zombies act differently in this area such as regenerate health/do more damage, etc?
Thank you very much :D
They don't "act" differently, they just look differently and can irradiate you if they hit you. Similar to the ember zombies being able to do fire damage to you if they hit you.
Ah, thanks!
It makes sense zombie are the living dead after all. Good job thanks.
Agree, and thank you for watching!
Awesome vid! I was wondering if you could show the radiation zone in random gen. My PC broke and I can't test it myself :(
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks!! I works the same way, just has a different radius from the center of the map than the Navezgane map :)
+Capp00 som POIs will spawn in random gen but its not really worth it .
also with the has met do the under gas mask too.
I know this is late but you can survive in the rad zone if you wear extra clothes like iron armor over the rad suit until you reach 102% rad protection you will see the damage animation but none will be taken
I did that in a follow-up video ;)
Oh ok
Nice video Capp00. I like the edge of the world shack, haha. How did you keep the nurse to just stand still?
Thanks man. If you press the * key above the number pad, while in Debug Mode, it will turn them "off". Then just press it again to turn them back on.
Never knew that. Keep up the great work.
what if you built up on stilts instead
I googled navezgane full map and in the map it shows a big crater looking thing on the bottom left of the map and four roads lead to it but its in the radiation zone, anyone knows what that might be??
It used to be a section that had a small town in it and you could get to it with a radiation suit. But they changed that several versions ago and it doesn't appear anymore.

do zombies fall from the edge of the world?
And he didn't even take any Rad-X
My Vault-Tec suit works rather well
Hey Capp00 - totally unrelated, but I had an idea for your merch. Why don’t you make a shirt that something like “Sylvia tested, Capp approved.” Or something like that. I’d buy that. I’m now finding that I call the nurse Sylvia, and the other female zombie Marleen. LOL. Enjoy your vids.

You asked, you shall receive. The shirt design is up: www.designbyhumans.com/shop/t-shirt/men/sylvia-tested-capp-approved/858486/
Ask and ye shall receive! That means I got to make an order.
Order placed!
Wanted to ask is it possible to walk on that ground beyond the zone? Like if you drop off the edge
No, there isn't a "ground", that's just an image. Once you go past the end, it's just a void. You fall indefinitely.
Capp00 dang that would be awesome if was able to walk on the ground thanks anyways
Thank you for the new info and have a champion day.
Thank you for watching and you do as well!
this is such an awesome game . good job Cap.
Thank you very much :D
nice video and explanation Capp
Thank you sir :)
Any news about 17 Alpha?
Not really. Hopefully soon.
Great way to start a day.
Thank you very much :)

Could the floating base work here?
At the end of the world? I believe so, if you can get the bottom drawbridge to connect to the edge of the land.
Try to make a ramp for minibike stunt
I did, at the end of the video on minibike fall damage :)
Bike in the radiation zone doesn't end well.
I've tested it myself.
Twice.
The day before a horde.

Capp00 have you tried any other games on the channel, it will be pretty cool cause I can see that 100k subs soon ❤❤love your vids
I have done LOTS of other games on the channel. Horror games, sports game, shooters, racing, co-op, etc.. Most of them tank terribly.
I'm very glad you enjoy the videos though.
How far out can it be built?
All based on the structural integrity of the blocks holding it attached to the world.
There is a gas mask as well that gives good rad resistance but that doesn't matter, even if your rad resistance in your stat screen is 100% you still take damage
Exactly, that was what I was saying in the original video, but people insisted that a full 600 suit would prevent it, so I had to show that it didn't.
Sorry im late cap cool i video though
No apology needed. Glad you came :)
