Thou i loved the HN7 the HX2 seems crap and many people ive talked to say the gps always drops out so that.s why i bought the Garmin. So far it seems good will find out next week when we go away

      Try going on explore (on the Overlander device) then account at the bottom right and make sure sync user data is on. I had the same problem and that fixed it. Happy trails :)

    Thanks for sharing. I was testing the Explore website and got confused that it didn't calculate the route precise. I would prefer it does to get a better idea about the km's to drive.
    I like the idea to draw the route on a pc or tablet and send it to 'a' navigation device. Since your review is 2 years old, are you still using the Overlander and still happy with it?

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  Год назад

      hi there, yep I still use the Overlander and love it! truth be told I prefer it for the voice commands for navigation. I thought myself that it would be great if the app snapped to roads before it uploads to the device if that is what you are talking about, agreed. The alternative to this is just to do it directly to the device and you will get turn by turn navigation from there if you do it via the drive screen, you can then store it as a route or track etc

    • @Tilburger72
      @Tilburger72 Год назад

      @@4WheelsOnTheRoad Thanks for sharing. So in your option it's 'good enough' and easy to do to create routes on the Overlander itself? So I could also do that at home before we leave? That could be indeed a good alternative.
      After my post on this video, I've seen also your video's about the Garmin Tread. Which one do you like the most?

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  Год назад +1

      @@Tilburger72 definitely good enough, I love the extra features on the Tread like I said in the videos but, gun to my head I would choose the Overlander, for everyday use it’s so much easier to have voice control especially when driving, for big trips and tours and off-road I always use the Tread

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad

      Och then I've missed those video's. I will check them out.
      I still think it strange that the Explore website seems to work better in your country then in the Netherlands
      A garmin dealer advised Basecamp. Not sure about that so an other option to check.
      Thanks for your replies!

    Looks cool. My last in car GPS died and I been contemplating a Hema, but might look at this also. Good luck on the Uluru trip. Me and some mates are looking to do Cape York this year.

      Oh wicked! The cape would be an awesome trip, yeah after owing this and the Hema I so prefer this, just so much easier to use on so many levels, I’m doing a few more videos upcoming on this also. OVERLANDER is expensive but a million times worth it I gotta say

    How do you enter co-ordinates (Latitude/Lon), so that you can get a "Go To", heading and distance?

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  2 года назад

      hi there Trickster, no need to navigate via lat and long. that's done mostly in the back end, fastest way to do it is find the spot on the map then press on the map to put a pin in. but if you HAD TO do it you can use the search function in the map then scroll to the bottom of the page then search via 'coordinates' and enter it there (but its a rubbish way of doing it and takes ages to enter the data)

    Great stuff, thanks for sharing!
    Can it import gpx routes created with other apps (Gaia GPS, for instance)? And here goes a (perhaps unusual) bonus question: I often follow tracks sent by friends or found online, but follow them in the opposite direction they were planned. Does the Tread have an option to "reverse route order"? Or would it insist I'm going the wrong way and cause trouble with turn-by-turn navigation?
    Thanks a ton and keep up the good work!

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  2 года назад +1

      yes you can import gpx into garmin connect and edit in Garmin Explore and also direct import from a memory card and open and edit from there as well. as for the second part of the question I have not tested this as yet .. but you may be able to do it by using trackback but I will have to test and see if that works, I'll get back to you on that

    Got me one of these last month but it didn’t come with the ram ball adapter you screw into the magnet base. Did you get the ram ball with yours?

    • @4WheelsOnTheRoad
      @4WheelsOnTheRoad  3 года назад

      Hi there, yes it came with a suction Ram adapter, I had spare ram mounts from messing about adding and moving my hema and other stuff previous. Not a lot of people want to put screws into their dashboard so I can see why they only provide a suction mount

    • @LungFai76
      @LungFai76 3 года назад +1

      @@4WheelsOnTheRoad heh, not a ram ball mount but a ram ball adaptor you screw onto the magnetic mount so you can fasten it to ram arms I'm pretty sure most of us 4x4 already have installed in our rigs. The yanks and Brits get it in the box, I got the screws for it, but not the ball. Just seeing if Garmin Australia is just ripping me off or everyone gets ripped off.
