    This is a truly innovative system. You found a way to carry a ballistic helmet and plate without receiving any of the benefits of said equipment. Thats a feat that is actually hard to accomplish.

      @smokecrash2147 The only thing I could think of to improve this setup would be to put all the ballistic protection in a drag bag and tie that to the backpack and drag it around behind the user.

      Carrying the helmet on your head is not nearly as nice. If you're doing long haul carry, it makes sense to carry it on your back. Plates don't exactly make sense to me.

    • @ATXAdventure
      @ATXAdventure 8 месяцев назад

      @ClubPenguinMaster88 That makes sense until you get shot in the head. If you have to walk around with the rifle, there is obviously a significant chance of being in a gun fight. If that chance exists and you are going to carry plates and a helmet, you should be wearing them. Combat isn't about comfort, and neither is the protective gear. Otherwise, we would all fight wars in pajamas. There are documented instances of Navy seals being killed in Afghanistan because they weren't wearing their issued helmets. They weren't wearing their helmets because they weren't comfortable. I bet they and their families wish they had either lived with the discomfort.

    • @ClubPenguinMaster88
      @ClubPenguinMaster88 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@ATXAdventure If you're being shot with a rifle, your helmet will not stop the round. The only documented cases that matter are rounds that the helmet are rated for (pistol rounds exclusively) and rounds that impact in a would-be protected zone. An airframe helmet protects the rear and top of the head.
      You have not had the pleasure of carrying any helmet for a length of time. Being fatigued by the time it comes to a fire fight is a bad thing.

    What's the point of having a chest rig if you still carry the weight of plates in the bag? this whole idea makes no operational sense. At this point might as well walk around in plate carry and bring actual sustainment gear in the backpack, or no backpack at all lol

    • @acevfx2923
      @acevfx2923 9 месяцев назад +117

      Walking for many miles with a plate on your chest is no fun. The rubbing will sore and scrape you up, and also limits breathability. The guy is carrying a 3 day assaulter, I'd imagine that this allows for a recon/patrol element to decide to do a dynamic entry when stumbling onto an unmarked or hidden building for example. I'm just thinking out loud here.

      @@damianh4510 I absolutely hear you man, well adjusted plate carriers will go a long way and I will personally never run this system. However it should be said that battlefield detachment teaches that if I "don't have time to kit up" that probably something else is afoot. And the risk of contact prior to objective has never necessitated carrying a plate carrier over a chest rig per say, the environment has been the major determining factor. The idea of packing a plate and scaling a mountain to hit a lodge or something is one that I can entertain and definitely see a use for this system.

Having the ability to downgrade to a rig and ditch plates and unwanted excess materials such as the plate bag is pretty nice in the event of quick egress or escape and evade type stuff. Everyone is looking and cocking their heads at the idea of carrying the weight in their pack and i get it. But aside from the direct use in the video or looking at it from a literal military use. Picture this.
    You as a citizen are wanting bith a carrier and a chest rig. You now have a setup that can be converted to either or. Maybe for a stash in your vehicle. Got the plates setup by default for a shooter situation but can be converted to a rig for a long hike if your vehicle were to breakdown in a SHTF scenario. (If you're into prepping for those hypotheticals) personally i wouldn't carry my conversion in a pack like that. If im donning the weight it might as well be worn. But the ability to downgrade it is a nice feature rather than looking at it from an upgrade POV

    I think more importantly than adding a plate is changing your weapon, I think a proper recon element has to have a .308/6.5cm type setup for engaging at farther ranges, the new 8.6blk looks promising. I could see an extra upper or even just a 8.6blk barrel brought along, imagine having a 20in .308 or 24in 6.5cm setup then swapping to a 8 or 12in 8.6blk with the suppressor being at least .338 size to fit everything.
    One could go from supersonic rounds to engage past 500yds to subsonic 300+grn .338 rounds that’ll drop targets easily out to a slightly past 1-200yds.
    Sure one can do the same with switching from 5.56 to .300blk, and maybe with a squad of decent size it makes more sense to go that route and let a marksman or two make their AR10 sized swapping of calibers.
    Speakin on which, I need to get me an 8.6blk barrel.

    • @RogerCharlamange
      @RogerCharlamange 8 месяцев назад

      A 16inch AR can reach out and touch area targets at 600m. A 14.5 is still getting hits on a human silhouette at 500. You're also assuming this is an exclusively one man team, which at that point carrying two rifles is fucking dumb because you aren't rambo. You are trying to avoid conflict if you are one person. A plate is super important because once you reach the hard target, you are at a significantly greater risk of being shot. Since again, the recon element isn't trying to get into engagements at all while doing recon or moving to the target, especially not at 500 meters.
