Hey La Tanya, Not at all! This week was a higher manipulation week only because I wanted to stretch it for my length check. So really, this is a tutorial on how to stretch your hair for showing length . Normally, I wear a twistout or keep it in twists and a high bun. I’ll re moisturize mid-week. I'm HERE FOR THIS lol. If you want a longer stretch, on one your remoisturize/twist days, put your banded sections in a low ponytail at the base of head (where your hairline and neck meet lol) that brings your twists on the front/side the farthest distance for the most stretch.

I was just about to ask how do you stretch natural hair. Very good suggestions but a lot of work for a busy schedule. Do you flat iron to cut the time? I would probably try this for my hair but depending on timing for busy days.
I normally wouldn’t do this much during the week. Typically I’ll leave my hair alone in the low manipulation style for about 5 days. I just needed to do my length check...tbh I find flat ironing to be more time consuming...maybe it’s because I get to spread out the banding over time....not sure. Flat ironing takes all day from wash to finish for me.
My routine is similar; banding technique and all ☺. It's been a couple of years since I last used direct heat for drying. The process may be tedious sometimes, but it's worth it for retaining length *for me*. I'm working on finding different styles. My trusty twist out is nice, but...
I understand. In actuality I don’t use the banding method often. I typically just do a twist out and call it a day. This week was a special week. One thing I like about direct heat is how long and puffy my hair looks. My twist outs turn out so good on blow dried hair. How often did you use to use direct heat?
@@LaToyaEbonyHair For more than a year after transitioning. Though my hair was Virgin, I only felt comfortable with straightened hair. At least once a week I flat ironed! I had no idea what I was doing though lol. Between that and a bout with protein overload, my hair broke off. Afterward, I trashed my heating tools. I'll use a hand dryer, if pressed for time. But I haven't been getting out much lately.
Once you put oil on your hair, nothing else is going to get in. Does it make sense to continue to layer products? I know you're going off what it feels like, but what if that isn't a good indicator?
LaToya! I learned from you that I have low porosity hair and that baking soda is akalin(sp?). So, should low porosity hair peeps rinse hair with baking soda water after shampoo, but before conditioner (to absorb the moisture in conditioner)?🤔
Baking soda can open up the cuticle, BUT if used it should be used sparingly. Using it too much can cause more harm than good. I personally have only tried it once and I didn’t like it. Because the cuticle was raised so much, detangling was harder. I prefer to use heat to open the hair cuticle.
Whew! Big, sexy, and undefined. I love hair like that. I usually band to preserve a twist out, but I don't like twist or braid patterns so I think I'll band twists to stretch and *remove* the twist pattern because your hair looks 💣.
I’ve done it for so long...I use gravity from the shower water to help me detangle. I’ll twist either at the end in the shower or as soon as I get out.
Hey Stephanie! I wash my hair 2-3 times a month. If I’m working out a lot, I try to wash my hair once a week. If I’m not, I wash every other week. I kind of feel it out.
OMG! That's ALOT of manipulation of your hair! You do that every week?

Thanks for the ipad tip!💛✌🏾
I do the banding method with satin scrunchies or I blow dryer my hair on cool or medium heat.
Whew! Big, sexy, and undefined. I love hair like that. I usually band to preserve a twist out, but I don't like twist or braid patterns so I think I'll band twists to stretch and *remove* the twist pattern because your hair looks 💣.
I love your eyebrowd!!!
I stretch my hair with pipe cleaners it’s way easier in my opinion ❤️
Ooo I like that idea!!
Just like African thread hairstyle. Natural stretch 😊
Exactly! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
LOVVVEEEE IT!! 🧡🧡
Wow.. how do you not get tangles by not washing in sections?
I’ve done it for so long...I use gravity from the shower water to help me detangle. I’ll twist either at the end in the shower or as soon as I get out.
Beautiful zoe love it. For now I am twa
Great Video 👍🏾
Curious, how often do you wash your hair? (I'm new here ;-))
Hey Stephanie! I wash my hair 2-3 times a month. If I’m working out a lot, I try to wash my hair once a week. If I’m not, I wash every other week. I kind of feel it out.
Do you have vany suggestions for stretching hair when you can't leave it banded? I need a stretching style I can wear to work. Thx!
