The first time I saw this video, back in late '89, was also the first time I heard this song. I'd never heard of Satriani before that day. For the first 54 seconds I was like, OK, decent little bluesy rock song, whatever...then at 0:55 my fucking jaw hit the fucking floor and I've never picked it back up since.
..so glad this was your introduction, most people knew of him, because of his beautiful instrumental ballad. In fact people still think it's the only song he ever did, assuming they remember him at all. I was blown away by him, bought his first 4 CDS, saw him live, before 1992.. I am re-visiting his music today. Still love it !!!
This is how you play the electric guitar!!!! This guy is unbelievably good and yet hardly anybody mentions him when talking about the greatest electric guitar players. I have yet to listen to anybody better than Joe. Awesome, just awesome music!!!!!!
A Lot of Joe’s stuff is… he’s been nominated for Grammy’s 16 times, _Always With Me, Always with You_ was nominated in 1989, 2002 & 2008 (in 2002 & 2008 it was nominated for _best Rock instrumental performance,_ & in 1989 it was nominated for _best Pop instrumental performance, the nomination he got for _best Rock instrumental performance_ in 1989 was _Surfing with the Alien_ which, in my opinion does belong in the same category as Eddie Van Halen’s _Eruption_ in terms of songs which changed the game and revolutionized the electric guitar)

my favorite tunes with harmonica: big bad moon, Sabbath -the wizard, pink - aerosmith, Michael moore - dead jail rocknroll, billy joel - piano man, uncle toms cabin - warrant,
One of the first tracks I ever heard as a kid on the Tommy Vance Friday Rock Show. Saw the video on TV on a late night Friday metal chart show (can't remember the name?) and it just blew me away. JS is an icon of guitar fans and shredders everywhere.
I remember seeing it on that very show too, it was on VH1 but can't remember the name of the show either. In those pre-RUclips days everyone talked about Satriani and Vai and Malmsteen but unless you knew someone or could find a very well stocked record store there was no way to check them out.

Impossible to believe Joe could be in the shadows of any guitar player. You can come up of a list of the best guitar players ever to pick from, and he should always be on that list along with the likes of Eddie Van Halen (RIP).
It's a shame that Joe is overshadowed. I mean, I love EVH, he's my everything and the reason I play but Joe is so fucking versatile and lightning fast. He's a virtuoso through and through where he can play anything and while he never changed the way the axe is played like Eddie did, he certainly improved and took it to new levels. Eddie will always be held at the top but goddamn Satch is a fucking god
Satch actually mentored Steve Vai...and created a lot of his own equipment, because it didn't exist yet....needed to find the "sound" that didn't exist yet, so he built it...;)

Joe Satriani is up there with Hendrix IMHO who remember had little of the technology now at the disposal of musicians. This track features rare vocals from the master guitarist who dont forget taught Steve Vai. Satriani is also credited with saying its only the physical impossibility of playing what he mentally processes that stops him becoming even better. Some statement indeed.

Oh wow...just browsing the clips and LO....a fantastic blast from the past hits me...i play it...back to the good times...that killer palm mute climb up the neck at 3:22 or so...makes me yell.
The first solo is hands down the best thing I've ever heard in my entire life.
I literally feel the same way about the second one.... his simulated 'peak pleasure' in the video during the 2nd solo is apropos lol
What about the solo after he gets rousted by the cops ; )
Intense for sure... Goosebumps

My favorite Joe Satriani song ever! Love this video ♥
Back to shallow Val was the first I ever heard, and I was instantly hooked! Then big bad moon was soon to come, and I was equally amazed.
Mine too
I was lucky enough to see him with Eric Johnson in Portland OR back in '91. Epic.
ive seen him w/eric twice both outside evening/nite shows in the summer as the sun went down- absolutely killer- watched one show from the top of a stopped ferris wheel at a festival on a lil island on the Mississippi
Saw the same show slightly north in Vancouver... awesome!!

This is the most bad ass rock song of all rock songs!
one of the baddest rock songs, this dude is amazing,i've heard some of his other music, but this one gets me every time!!!
Clearly one of his best tunes!
I heard this song when he played an encore at Queen Elizabeth theatre in Vancouver. Joe's most important work as an artist.

I'm glad he put new cd out!!!!!!!!!!!!!cant wait to order
Joe Satriani is the best instrumental music
Seen him twice in Glasgow, just awesome. Came home with 2 pieces of memorabilia too. Signed drum lid and one of his plectrums 👌😁
his plectrum? sounds dirty.. ;)
@@thereverendepi_gee565 well the person that caught it, may well have been dirty after the goal dive I saw to grab it 😂
this album was one of his best, by far!!
The guitar riff reminds me of "On the road again" by Canned Heat. I remember this video from MTV. A great song!
Genau🤟
I was so blown away when I first saw this video on release back in 1989. I was 14yo. And it still gives me chills now.
It's true that Satriani isn't much of a singer, but I think this is one of the few times where his harsh, guttural vocals fit perfectly.
Jimi Hendrix didn't like his voice. All Along the Watchtower or any of his 'stuff' would have never been the same without his voice!
Totally electrifying. The track and the vid to accompany it is sheer brilliance.
Gives me chills everytime
