Ultraviolence & Honeymoon really are her best works. The atmosphere, the cohesion, the structure of each song, the simplistic yet poetic lyrics, pure genius all throughout. NFR is an amazing album, but HM & UV aren’t just albums, they are worlds.
I’m so glad you appreciate Old Money! It’s so beautiful and so many people pay it dust because it’s a slow ballad. I’m glad you liked this album, every time I take a long break from Ultraviolence it sounds better whenever I revisit it.
unpopular opinion: florida kilos is such an underrated song, i feel like it has a gorgeous cinematic vibe to it but still i enjoyed watching you listen to this it definitely reminds me of myself listening to it for the first time haha
i'm gonna bring a fun fact once again, i saw somewhere years ago her talking about how she used diffent amounts of paper sheets between her and the mic while recording, so she could her some different volumes and textures on her voice, especially on the layered vocals, idk i just think its pretty cool that its not ALL production but has some organic elements aswell :P
Yes she always has something done to her voice through every album, like in lust for life the walkie-talkie effect. Thats how we know Yosemite was supposed to be on it.
actually her most popular album is born to die which has spent over 400 weeks on billboard 200 which is the second longest for a female artist. You should definitely check it out and then of course my favorite of hers Paradise ep
So happy to see Old Money get the recognition it deserves! Definitely in my top three Lana songs of all time. Ultraviolence really does give you the sad but sexy vibes, I'm glad you liked it!
the “bonnie” is a reference to Bonnie & Clyde, a couple who were infamous bank robbers. When people say they’re like “bonnie and clyde” they mean they’re ride or dies for each other essentially
The years change everything. Ultraviolece was my favorite sad song in the album. Now my favorite is Sad Girl. this song was invisible to me at the time, but now it sends me good memories
How I wish I could erase my memory and listen to this album again 😩 but since I can't i love seeing people discover this masterpiece!! It was literally so cool and so endearing to watch your reaction and see how passionate you were ❤️
One of my favourite albums!! Black Beauty, by the way, is about when a person in your life is struggling with mental health and is unable to see the beauty of life no matter how much you try to show it to them. It's super sad :(
I think Lust for Life will grow on you if you listen to some of the songs individually. It is a very long album and if you take out the 6 songs you like least (different for everyone) - you will end up with a great album. Old Money is my favourite Lana song. I love the line “Will you still love me when I shine From words but not from beauty” which has only recently been challenged as my favourite line by “Let me shine like a diamond Let me be who I'm meant to be”
Fun fact: The beginning of Old Money actually samples off of the song in 1968’s Romeo and Juliet “what is a youth” which is a song that is sang by one the characters in the ball where Romeo and Juliet find eachother for the first time :)
yaaay, great reaction! I always go to this album when I'm depressed or just kinda mad, it feels like a warm sadder hug lol and yes, old money is one of the best on her discography. The song ultraviolence is inspired by a cult leader who used live in NY, Money Power Glory and Fucked My Way are callbacks to the way she was portrayed by media when BTD was released
love love love this album. it will always be my fav but honeymoon is a close second! it’s hard for me to rank her albums tho as lust for life is the only one i really didnt like as a whole. but this reaction was so good and i cant wait for u to finish off her discography! paradise and born to die will blow ur mind.
Check out the Chelsea Hotel cover she did! Especially since you loved the sound of Old Money & The Other Woman. It’s a video on RUclips, wish it was on Spotify 😥
Not the lust for life shade on its 4th birthday 😂😭 ultraviolence is definitely one of her best albums, if not the best. It came out when I was 10/11 and I remember listening to it on my little MP3 player
Honestly, this album changed my life, made me the woman I am now, I still get goosebumps and listen to this album chronologically and isolated and it just takes me away. If I had to choose just one song from this one I'd choose Shades of Cool 😍 Loved this video! 💖
Loved that you enjoyed 'fucked my way up to the top.' I've always felt like this song is so underappreciated. It's just Lana being the iconic queen that she is in this song (and basically in every other song.) On another note, I would suggest putting the cover of the albums or singles that you're reacting to on the thumbnails because it grabs the attention of people more easily considering how many people just do 'passive scrolling'.
I was going to say the same thing about FMYUTTT. This song is such a rockstar to me but I'm always heading reactors calling it filler. The production here is masterful. And maybe this is a weird thing to pick on but I love the juxtaposition of how softly she says the word fuck. And also how she uses the "lay me down tonight" refrain at the end of the last chorus in Ultraviolence 👌👌👌
@@0485dlp Thank you!! Ikr, like why do so many people pay this song and Florida kilos dust. Also, when she says 'go baby go, go, go' , it fills me with so much excitement; it makes me feel like a badass. Yeah, I know this sounds weird.
This was a really great review, as are all of your LDR ones. I can't be objective about this album - it was the first Lana record I was there for the release of all the singles, hearing a couple of the songs on live bootleg videos before release, and all the excitement along with it, so my memories will always be seen through rose coloured glasses because of that. My main memory is of the fandom being split down the middle between those who wanted her to keep making records like Born To Die (which itself is not a straight up pop record, but really covers so much ground), or going all in on the rock direction. She didn't really do either, and this album is the only one of hers that sounds quite like this.
Black beauty is probably one of my favorites! They all are amazing! This album as a whole ranks pretty high up in my favorites in general and of hers. The first 4 on the album are a work of art. Florida kilos grew on me a lot! It's the one I find often stuck in my head

Fun Fact about Fcked My Way Up To The Top, It is actually a diss track for Lorde. Lorde claimed she doesn’t like the lyricism of Lana’s songs and how she can’t relate to the “having money” or “nice things” which is completely untrue anyways because the point of Lana singing about all of the “things she has” is just a vision. Back when she released Born to Die, she didn’t have any of the things she sang about it was just her envisioning how she wants to live her life. Lorde said she would hear her songs about “money” and she would be figuring out “how to pay for a taxi as a ride home” I personally think Lorde is jealous and Lana ENDED her with Fcked My Way Up To The Top anyways
My story is that when the album first came out I didn’t like it (except for Is This Happiness). And now that I’m older and an adult, I actually understand the album more and like it way more. The album is so good. I just couldn’t understand how good it was when I was in high school.
