But, I have to edit the songs and I hear them back to back continuously so I think differently after REALLY hearing the song a couple times. So my rankings are like a week or two after this video. Plus, they were all good tracks to me, but regardless I have to rank them out of each other.
In album context, yes. But in general there is an interview where Lana says she has been obsessrd with the concept of death from a young age and how it's haunted her. So I think a mix of both ideas
umm this is lana we’re talking about, so she’s talking about actual death. the song meant we would all die at some point, so we should do what we want & live as we want. she had a very depressing concept early on, that’s why it changed when “lust for life” came out, which is a more positive concept that is quite the opposite of btd
@@dannyy2b Omg thats so cool! btw theres a new album coming this summer, ive heard its a bit country-ish. she already made a few unreleased country songs so im very excited to see what she has for us 🤩
dark paradise is about Lana's friend who died. The lyrics about dreams are about not being able to escape thinking about them and how their death consumes her.
the song about her friend’s death is summertime sadness, not dark paradise 🫶😊 although dark paradise does talk about the struggle of moving on and coping with loss !!
Also Lolita is about a persona based on the book named "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov about a 12/13 year old girl and a 40 something man that are in a relationship.
Just subbed for more lana !!! Off to the races is my absolute favourite ty for appreciating it, the bridge, the voice inflections, the flow, the lolita references, Eveerythinggg. It's like how she feels in love and how ride or die she is. National anthem is representing the American dream and her desire to be apart of that, but also the dark sides to it, "drinkin and drivin, excessive buyin, overdosin dying." I also am sure Carmen is referring to herself, she was reliant on alcohol from her childhood, (but is now sober), white lightning can represent the alcohol imo.
national anthem's concept is basically based on the supposed love affair between JFK and Marilyn, Lana sings from both Jackie and Marilyn perspectives, assuming a true genuine love when singing from Jackie's pov, while being more sporadic, material and glamorous while in Marilyn's pov. The music video is very good, and visually explains the song very well.
You NEED TO listen to all Lana albums. I loved the way you do your videos (I do music react as well, I'm going to start doing in english, I'm brazilian)
You need to listen to her albums in chronological order. Next do her paradise ep, then ultraviolence, then honeymoon, then lust for life, then Norman fucking Rockwell, then chemtrails over the country club, then blue banisters, and then her latest album did you know that there’s a tunnel under ocean Blvd. after you do that then react to her music videos and her short film Tropico.
Apparently "summertime sadness" was about a friend that commited suicide. In "this is what makes us girls" the bit "i was waiting on the train platform, crying because I'm never coming back" was referenced when she was sent to boarding school
I will not assume your age but you seem young which makes me think about how much I love that Lana is so timeless…I see people of all ages and gender loving her ❤
Finally!!!! I’ve been watching hundreds of people reacting to this album and you’re the first person that I’ve seen enjoy Carmen! No one else seems to like that song! Let’s goooooooo 💯
Since you asked Lolita is about an unhealthy "age gap" relationship. It makes a reference to a book and movies of the same name that are about p*dophilia. In wich Lolita is a young pre teen getting groomed by an older man. I think that's why you see a lot of youthful elements in the song like spelling.
Thank you so much for telling me! I just bought the book the song is based off of, planning on reading it and watching the movies, as well! If it's not too much trouble could you tell me more about the youthful elements of the song?
@@dannyy2b yeah as I said she utilizes spelling and mentions things about the protagonist like having bare feet outside (like kids often do when playing) or the line " No more skipping rope, skipping heartbeats with the boys downtown". All of these are references to a certain youthfulness or childishness from the protagonist making you wonder if she's underaged or just too young for the men she is dating in the song. I really like the direction they took with the bridge for this song adding that scary sound behind Lana's voice when she spells the word L O V E. Idk if I'm reading too much into it but when all these details are put together I think the song becomes a lot more sinister then what I got from it from my first listen.
Omg! Subscribed! I hope you check out the music videos from this era! they're so amazing, and have extra context/ story elements. She's an artist. Regardless of if you do or not, I'm excited to see what's up next!! :)

The story of Dark Paradise, from what I've heard, was that the person she loved died, that's why she doesn't want to wake up because she's dreaming of him. It's a dark Paradise because when she's sleeping she gets to be with him which is like "Paradise", however, she knows he's gone and won't come back, this it's "dark"
I love your reaction to her songs!😂 If you think this is good, wait until your hear Ultraviolence, you won't be ready. It's really good. Definitely searching for your reaction to ultraviolence
I'm glad you enjoyed!! 🤎 I'm going to release "Paradise" sometime this week and then "Ultraviolence" that following week, so the way y'all are talking...... it better be good- The anticipation is killing me honestly 😭
@dannyy2b oooh, can't wait! I think you'll love Paradise, but you're right to anticipate Ultraviolence. I listened to born to die on repeat and didn't listen to any of her other albums cause I liked it so much. To be honest, in my unprofessional opinion, born to die doesn't hold a candle to Ultraviolence. It is so good. I literally bought a $60 vinyl of the deluxe album, which you should listen to and have been listening to it on repeat. I actually need to listen to born to die again XD. I've listened to "Norman Fucking Roxwell" "Did you know there was a tunnel under Beach Blvd" and the first few songs of "Blue Banisters" Ultraviolence is still better in my opinion than all of them.
Thank You So Much! So sorry you had a hard day, but I hope the days coming are better! Also, I'm glad I can bring some good back into your day! Oh yeah, thanks for BECOMING A DANIANNNN!!! 🤎
