She embraced being a homewrecker in the song, but fails to get with him in the end. she is trying to persuade the boy to break up with him or in other words pacify her or shut her up. Ms potato head is about having plastic surgery and its consequences. Its bout how woman feel the need to go and get plastic surgery to feel prettier and the struggles for beauty in the modern world and the pressure to living up those standards. crybaby in this case sees ms potato head and tries to make herself better and her breasts which is a reference to pacify when the girl one over the boy with her breasts. Crybaby watches the channel and sees how ms potato head tries to get more and more prettier but fails and her face is all messed up now because of her face being messed up her husband leaves ms potato head for another woman. the film ends and crybaby is affected from what she has saw decides that she is perfect the way she is and takes all the tissues and makeup and wigs she had in the beginning of the video. Ms potato has the reference of the toy that can be decorated and changed with many plastic parts. After everything in mad hatter she is accepting herself and her craziness. Crybaby has a drink on her bed and drinks it she then sees the same people with black eyes surrounding her. She falls in to this dream or allusion which she is accepting herself and the big animals are protecting her of the other people who are hurting her. She wakes up and now has black eyes just like the rest which refers to the people who are "woke" in the things that happen in life etc. Mad hatter is also a reference to alison's in wonderland and so is the music video. Teddy bear is about toxic abusive relationships. Cake is about being used for only for their body and in the relationship it is one sided love. She loves the boy the boy doesnt and only uses her for her body and her only just being a piece of cake to her. The boy is mistreating her and she decides she has enough of only being a peice of cake to him. Melanie uses her character crybaby to show the tough parts of life and society crybaby is melanie but more of her fantasy character that she created. Everything that happened to crybaby did not all happen to melanie but she relates to the character crybaby. She also uses her childlike concept and In my opinion I think it to show how innocent things seem to be but are more darker than they seem. The cashier in tag ur it is also crybabys bestfriend in k-12 which I reccomend reacting or listening to. I reccomend to keep in mind that each song as it goes she goes a grade up. After that I reccomend listening to after school ep and the after school ep is more of Melanie's life not crybabys. The ep is more personal and is more about melanie not crybaby. This is my childhood album, i was 9 when i heard it, and i know it isn't an album appropiate for kids but as an insecure shy emotional kid with a disfunctional family i can tell you i never felt so understood with all these songs. Everytime i listen to it i go back to that time and damn it wasn't a good time.
I'm sorry that you had to go through that at such a young age (I hope you got out of that bad place in time). I understand what you are saying though about finding yourself in the music you listen to specifically Melanie. I mean, i didn't have a normal childhood, i had to go to therapy from a very early age cause my parents got divorced cause of my father infidelites, and there was a lot fighting and back and forth, my dad dissapeared, my mom got depressed and she started smoking and drinking, also my brother got into drugs so he would fight too a lot with my mom, sometimes it would get violent and they would throw things at each other. All these things seen by the perspective of a little boy, it was so confusing, and of course i started to think it was my fault, cause i thought i never was what my father wanted me to be. He wanted a strong football player and instead he got a shy weak kid who doesn't like sports. All these things we're the origin point for me to develop depression and anxiety now in my teenage years. Cry Baby as a piece of art represents for me exactly what those years were for me, i listen to it and just go back to being that 9 year old kid. I will relate to Cry Baby, i will relate to her family in Dollhouse and Sippy Cup, songs like Alphabet Boy and Pacify Her would help me calm my anger with the kids who bullied me or thought they were better than me and i couldn't respond to them for being afraid, the love songs like Carousel, Training Wheels, Soap remind me of the girls i liked during my childhood which of course i never told, so yeah, listening to it is a journey. Also would help me to acept myself with Mad Hatter, of course i was bullied in school and kids will give me weird look for going to therapy, Mad Hatter was like a liberation.

Sippy cup is about covering your problems and insecurities with short-term solutions instead of really understanding it and facing them as you should. She gives examples of toxic marriages, lack of communication between partners and also of parents with their children, as well as drinking problems, use of drugs, body image and eating disorders. So even though you try to hide what you're drinking with a silly cup to feel less ashamed of it, it's still ugly on the inside.
I DEFINITELY will be reacting to her K-12 album and I want to watch the movie for it featuring each song, but I don't want to sit for a long period of time watching an entire movie. But, at the same time I could watch the movie and listen to the songs at the same time instead of just listening to the songs by themselves. So, I really don't know... To me, sending mature messages and themes through a child concept is really unique and interesting. I think that the whole concept is a metaphor for the way serious topics or issues aren't addressed enough in music (specifically pop), and I think she takes the idea of the way a child isn't taken seriously and uses it as a metaphor for the way the struggles/issues that she addresses in music, aren't taken seriously either, just like a child. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, maybe I'm not, but Melanie's work is so fun to analyze and talk about because there are so many possibilities as to why her style is the way it is, maybe she just liked it, maybe she thought it was eye-grabbing, maybe it's the reason I came up with, etc. But it's so fun to try to enter a unique artist's mindset, trying to unlock the reason WHY they make their music a certain way. Sippy cup is also about drinking problems and how no matter what you do on the outside the feelings on the inside remain the same. The syrup is alchohol and no matter where u put the alchohol for example a sippy cup it still remains the same. The saying no matter what you do on the outside the feelings on the inside remains the same also shows when she says "all the makeup in the world wont make you less insecure" and "kids are still Depressed when you dress them up". After that is carousel crybaby met a boy and she feels like she's stuck in the same place over and over again and they are not progressing. It's just the same cycle over and over in the relationship and never making it anywhere, which is basically using the reference a carousel to explain that meaning since all a carousel does it spins around and around and does not progress alphabet boy is a continuing of carousel where she is basically done with alphabet boy and decides to end things with him. It is crybabys breakup song and she is proving that she is smarter than him after he trys to put himself above crybaby but fails. It is also about her progression of her growth and maturity after she leaves him which sums up to the lyric "I'm not a little kid now". She also shows alliteration in the song with the first and second chorus by always starting the song with ABCD. "Always Aiming paper Airplanes At me when your Around. You Build me up like Building Blocks just so u can Bring me down." Etc.. after that is soap. Soap is about not being able Express deeper feelings such as love. So it feels like ur washing ur mouth with soap. Soap in the older days were used to wash mouth of kids who would say bad things.Crybaby struggles to tell her cruch how she feels but is afriad that this could ruin their friendship or relationship. So when she feels it coming up her throat she wants to wash her mouth out with soap and regrets what she said so she could stop saying so much. So she is afriad to say anything. It could also mean overflowing and saying to much to someone or somebody or oversharing and feeling like shutting urself up with soap. After soap training wheels come in which is the love song of the crybaby album its about wanting to get serious with ur partner and in this case the boy is Johnny from soap. Crybaby wants to move to the next level of their relationship and take those training wheels off and in childnlike training wheels are used to prepare or train until you can get to the real thing and take those training wheels off for example a bike. Crybaby tries to help the boy Johnny move on from his fear of commitment. After that is pity party. Pity party is about inviting people to a party and nobody comes to your party and basically being sad and in pain but trying not to think on the bad side and ur emotions progress in getting crazier and more emotional. In this case cryababy invited her friends and no one shows up so she tries to cheer herself up with the bright side of it like saying that she has all the cake to herself. She puts so much effort to the party and no one shows up. She starts blaming her self that nobody came. In the end she goes through a emotional torrent and decides she doesnt care anymore. Tag your it is basically about getting kidnapped or $exu@l @s$ult. After the pity party crybaby breaks up with jhonny so now she feels sad and alone. In the beginning of tag your it u can see crybaby throwing out the pity party decorations. tag your it was a game children would play and if u get touched u were it and the rest of the people would have to run away from the person or else they were it and in this case shows how she is running away from her assaulter. After tag ur it is milk and cookies. Crybaby ends up in the wolfs lair and has to bake for the wolf the potion or posion that she used to kill her was the posion that the cashier in tag ur it gave to her. She kills her assulater with milk and cookies she also has nursey rhymes in milk in cookies which is "ashes ashes" as a part of the song.The wolf is also a reference to the big bad wolf in red riding hood. After her being kidnapped she was so distraught. Crybaby becomes a whole new different person and embracing her craziness in pacify her. Crybaby tries to get with the girls boyfriend knowing that he wants her but crybaby does not love him. She embraced being a homewrecker in the song, but fails to get with him in the end. she is trying to persuade the boy to break up with him or in other words pacify her or shut her up. Ms potato head is about having plastic surgery and its consequences. Its bout how woman feel the need to go and get plastic surgery to feel prettier and the struggles for beauty in the modern world and the pressure to living up those standards. crybaby in this case sees ms potato head and tries to make herself better and her breasts which is a reference to pacify when the girl one over the boy with her breasts. Crybaby watches the channel and sees how ms potato head tries to get more and more prettier but fails and her face is all messed up now because of her face being messed up her husband leaves ms potato head for another woman. the film ends and crybaby is affected from what she has saw decides that she is perfect the way she is and takes all the tissues and makeup and wigs she had in the beginning of the video. Ms potato has the reference of the toy that can be decorated and changed with many plastic parts. After everything in mad hatter she is accepting herself and her craziness. Crybaby has a drink on her bed and drinks it she then sees the same people with black eyes surrounding her. She falls in to this dream or allusion which she is accepting herself and the big animals are protecting her of the other people who are hurting her. She wakes up and now has black eyes just like the rest which refers to the people who are "woke" in the things that happen in life etc. Mad hatter is also a reference to alison's in wonderland and so is the music video. Teddy bear is about toxic abusive relationships. Cake is about being used for only for their body and in the relationship it is one sided love. She loves the boy the boy doesnt and only uses her for her body and her only just being a piece of cake to her. The boy is mistreating her and she decides she has enough of only being a peice of cake to him. Melanie uses her character crybaby to show the tough parts of life and society crybaby is melanie but more of her fantasy character that she created. Everything that happened to crybaby did not all happen to melanie but she relates to the character crybaby. She also uses her childlike concept and In my opinion I think it to show how innocent things seem to be but are more darker than they seem. The cashier in tag ur it is also crybabys bestfriend in k-12 which I reccomend reacting or listening to. I reccomend to keep in mind that each song as it goes she goes a grade up. Which is why she has 13 song in the album also to listen to the credits song too after the film. After that I reccomend listening to after school ep and the after school ep is more of Melanie's life not crybabys. The ep is more personal and is more about melanie not crybaby. This is my childhood album, i was 9 when i heard it, and i know it isn't an album appropiate for kids but as an insecure shy emotional kid with a disfunctional family i can tell you i never felt so understood with all these songs. Everytime i listen to it i go back to that time and damn it wasn't a good time.
I'm sorry that you had to go through that at such a young age (I hope you got out of that bad place in time). I understand what you are saying though about finding yourself in the music you listen to specifically Melanie. I feel as if Melanie talks a lot about teen problems and brings them to light, therefore in the end making the problems for teen and young adults know to her listeners with her music.

I mean, i didn't have a normal childhood, i had to go to therapy from a very early age cause my parents got divorced cause of my father infidelites, and there was a lot fighting and back and forth, my dad dissapeared, my mom got depressed and she started smoking and drinking, also my brother got into drugs so he would fight too a lot with my mom, sometimes it would get violent and they would throw things at each other.
All these things seen by the perspective of a little boy, it was so confusing, and of course i started to think it was my fault, cause i thought i never was what my father wanted me to be. He wanted a strong football player and instead he got a shy weak kid who doesn't like sports. All these things we're the origin point for me to develop depression and anxiety now in my teenage years.
Cry Baby as a piece of art represents for me exactly what those years were for me, i listen to it and just go back to being that 9 year old kid. I will relate to Cry Baby, i will relate to her family in Dollhouse and Sippy Cup, songs like Alphabet Boy and Pacify Her would help me calm my anger with the kids who bullied me or thought they were better than me and i couldn't respond to them for being afraid, the love songs like Carousel, Training Wheels, Soap remind me of the girls i liked during my childhood which of course i never told, so yeah, listening to it is a journey. Also would help me to acept myself with Mad Hatter, of course i was bullied in school and kids will give me weird look for going to therapy, Mad Hatter was like a liberation.

She gives examples of toxic marriages, lack of communication between partners and also of parents with their children, as well as drinking problems, use of drugs, body image and eating disorders.
So even though you try to hide what you're drinking with a silly cup to feel less ashamed of it, it's still ugly on the inside.

It’s about how fucked up most school systems are. Portals is when crybaby goes through the portal and died, being reborn into a new body and being.

Edit: I also think Melanie child-like style is, in a way, a metaphor. To me, sending mature messages and themes through a child concept is really unique and interesting. I think that the whole concept is a metaphor for the way serious topics or issues aren't addressed enough in music (specifically pop), and I think she takes the idea of the way a child isn't taken seriously and uses it as a metaphor for the way the struggles/issues that she addresses in music, aren't taken seriously either, just like a child. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it, maybe I'm not, but Melanie's work is so fun to analyze and talk about because there are so many possibilities as to why her style is the way it is, maybe she just liked it, maybe she thought it was eye-grabbing, maybe it's the reason I came up with, etc. But it's so fun to try to enter a unique artist's mindset, trying to unlock the reason WHY they make their music a certain way.

BLUE BOY THATS FROM THE K-12 FILM
OK, I know this is a year late but I’m gonna try my best as a very big Melanie fan so crybaby is a character that Melanie plays and the song sippy cup is about how the mom killed the father because she has drinking problems and she found out that her husband was cheating on her while she was drunk. This concept also leaks into dollhouse a little bit when she says, the wallpaper glistens and don’t let them see what goes down in the kitchen. It’s because the wallpaper glistens because there’s blood splatter because the mom killed the dad with a beer bottle in the kitchen.
All meanings
Crybaby:being to sensitive
Dollhouse:a family that’s perfect on the outside but worse on the inside
Sippy cup:hiding problems also when Melanie is a angel it means she’s innocent
Carousel:being stuck in a relationship Melanie had her first love in this video and it’s called carousel because it keeps going round like a carousel and won’t actually reach eachother
Alphabet boy:Melanie now knows she can do what she wants and she shows she’s smarter than alphabet boy aka the carousel boy and Melanie don’t like him anymore because alphabet boy is basically being rude because alphabet boy let her down so much times also this song goes in alphabetical order

Pity party:it’s Melanie’s birthday she invited all her friends but none come and she feels lonely she tries to smile and be patient and kind of laugh to make her not cry but still nobody came…
Tag your it: after Melanie’s pity party it gave her bad luck she met a girl named Angelita she gave her a sleepy potion for the wolf she must’ve knew it was gonna happen then Melanie gets free ice cream but it also has a sleepy potion in it and the wolf takes her
Milk and cookies:Melanie finds away to escape the room she has to make cookies but she still has the potion puts it in for karma to the wolf and instead she kidnapped the wolf! The wolf is her brother btw
Pacify her: basic b**** plays with a boy and needs to babysit crybaby crybaby is jealous and thinks basic girl likes him but actually they are just friends it’s called pacify her because when she said ‘where’s her binky now’ if u take away the y and h in pacify her it’s pacifer like pacifier
Mrs potato head:crybaby grows insecure about her body and decides to get plastic surgery so she thinks she could loose weight so she stops eating cookies but the plastic surgery was a fail and she notices everyone is perfect the way they are
Mad hatter:kinda like alphabet boy she knows she can do what she wants and she accepts her crazy side since her plastic surgery went wrong she just accepts her crazy side so u got it right the inspiration is also Alice in wonderland so u got all it right
Play date: This tells the story of Cry Baby feeling like she’s nothing more than a friend to the boy she likes. He constantly invites her over to play games, but Cry Baby feels he does not care about her as much as she cares about him. Frustrated, she outwardly proclaims she is just as uncommitted as he is, and that she's tired of all the games she has to play to stay with him she wishes she didn’t care about his antisocial behavior towards her and that she could stop chasing after him
during the song's ending, she admits to liking spending time with him despite his odd behavior. She states that she does not want to leave him
Teddy bear: The song tells the story of a child (who may be Cry Baby), presumably a little girl. After the child got a living, talking teddy bear, whom she loved, she was very happy, until the toy begins to act strangely. She begins to lose hope in her bear, and she’s unsure if she should trust him anymore, although she is not scared. As the song goes on, the more dangerous and insane the toy becomes: hiding small knives under her bedsheets, crumpling photographs of her, and threatening her. It takes a turn for the worse after the teddy bear attempts to kill her, even after the child disposed of it. The child becomes terrified after realizing the severity of the situation.

Her character’s name is crybaby, and imma tell ya the meaning of the songs in her songs.
Crybaby: Basically, from what I’ve heard, Melanie has been called crybaby cause of how sensitive(?) she(?) is. Idk what else
Dollhouse: This is a song about crybaby’s child hood. Basically the mom is drinking alcohol because of crybaby’s dad cheating on her. The line “don’t let them see what goes down in the kitchen” is probably cause that’s where her dad brings his mistress.
Sippy cup: technically the continuation of dollhouse. Here, we see what goes down in the kitchen. In this case the “syrup” is alcohol. From here idk how to explain the rest since some songs aren’t rlly abt crybaby. So I’ll explain other songs
