Yes, in addition to simply transporting things from A to B, belt conveyors can also separate, sort or buffer using simple means.
The simplest way to buffer or store is to move the product against a stop, a so-called accumulation bar, and thus accumulate it on the conveyor belt. This area can be enlarged accordingly by one or more parallel conveyor belts running in opposite directions. In this case, the dynamic pressure is reduced and bridging is prevented. This type of buffering is suitable for both "push table" tasks and first-in-first-out tasks. For very small products that require a minimal gap between the individual conveyors, the use of hinged or modular belt conveyors is recommended.
