Happy Birthday Nick!! What an iconic and beautiful city for your birthday celebration. I’m sure wonderful memories were made. Good luck in your boat pursuit.

Happy 50th birthday, Nick. Paris is a great city to celebrate half a century and you picked a great day for it! I’ve been to Paris many times and every time there something new to discover! All the better that you can experience the city of love with your lovely wife and co-pirate! 😊 May your next 50 be filled with many more great experiences!

Really something that the deals are coming back around. Nothing is surprising anymore! Loved going to Paris with you via this video. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Great virtual visit
LOL, you're too kind. Thank you. Secret....hmmm....don't drink or smoke or stress that much. I'd say eat healthy, but haven't been doing that much lately! LOL
Happy birthday! Re purchasing a boat, my dad would always say that, for major purchases, you’ll do well to remember that the deal of a lifetime comes along about once a month. It has been a slog for you all but your patience is paying off! Great video…keep’em coming!!
hbd young man. thx for the visit. you are good sports slummin’ it in that canne abb. Your ami’s paris walk up reminds me of my daughter’s apt in the 10th - archetypal views. Happy 50th Birthday Nick 🥳 thanks for taking us along to Paris. Really enjoyed the sights, The Thomas Crown Affair and the sounds! As always, love you both and your music! 🎉
When I first starting looking at boats a little over a year ago I could put in my search criteria and I would get about 2 pages of boats that fit. When I did the same search about a month ago I got 15 pages. I knew then sales were heading down. And Happy Birthday! Hopefully you enjoyed Paris, I really like it.
We discovered your channel watching Nikki and Jason's latest video from Cannes while we were at the Annapolis Boat Show. Loved this episode as Paris is like a second home to us. I must have flown at least 500 trips there as a pilot for United. We've been observing the same trends you've noticed in the used boat market. Glad to see reality is finally starting to make an appearance. Great job, and Happy Birthday. Great minds think alike. I took my wife there this past summer for a signature birthday.
You two offer great insight and advice and provide us with "tools" in our ventures sailing AND pursuing boat life! I appreciate your logic calm approach on your RUclips channel! Thank you for sharing with all of us. I feel a little bit smarter after each episode! BTW, either of you could do books on tape....smooth! Also, think the downward trend in pricing is also happening in the similar parallel RV industry as well as those in "van life". Explanation that I think makes sense is that these types of lives for people who changed their lifestyle at covid pandemic, seem to last about 2-4 years before they "exhausted" this type of transient lifestyle. We are at that point in time where some who may have jumped into the marked at the pandemic are starting to bow out (see what i did there) of the lifestyle. Prices in RV and Boats may be reflecting that also with lower demand and more sellers.
Thank you for the kind words. It's a wacky time in just about every market...a lot of shifts taking place. Curious to see if the RV world moves in tandem. Same sort of pursuit for sure.
I was always told that a cemetery was the dead center of town. Hope you had a great B-day. Nick. Won't be long before your normal birthday cake and candles is replaced by a bundt cake and blowtorch. Enjoy.
Happy Birthday Nick! Having been to Paris and Montpellier many times for work I can say you definitely covered a lot of ground in Paris. Hope you get to spend some quality time in Montpellier as well. Enjoy O week. Sounds great. Cheers!
Another great session on your channel, wonderful reminder of Penny my Wife and i in Paris a few year's ago in the Winter, which was dry, no rain, but cold and no tourist's,in fact when we went up the Eifel tower there were 5 of us and the Louvre was mostly empty, good luck on your search.
To think of all of us who have stood there, absorbing, being impacted, or even just distracted....and the millions and millions of hours and lifetimes of learning and struggle to create these masterpieces....it gives me great solace think that we all share the same conscious experience filled with different colors and details. Cheers to that.
Happy Birthday Nick , nice to see the couple in such a good mood, thanks for your contagious "la vie est belle" videos, next time in Europe come to Portugal
So Very Many Belated Happy Returns for 20(?) Sep, the grand old age of 50! That looked like a great day in Paris which certainly looked like it delivered. Fascinating to hear you have been approached by some of the less than willing sellers you dealt with over the last months. Hopefully something will be forthcoming and, maybe, you can drive a decent bargain out of the situation. Onto more fun at Outremer week so looking forward to hearing about that. Again Happy Birthday!
Joyeux Anniversaire Nick! That "room" in Cannes, my goodness! Cannes is an expensive place especially when there are events and it is difficult to get good deals. You have to pay quite a lot to have a nice place in the city center. Looks like you fare much better in Paris, doing all the classics. With a bearish market I hope you will find your dream boat soon. Cheers from Singapore.
Going to be a buyers market in basically everything next year. Housing, boating, everything....Those with cash when the world financial markets are in the toilet by next summer will reap huge rewards, no matter what you are looking to buy. (No, I am not talking about consumables like energy/food sadly)
*I mean, it was already predicted the next 10-15 years was gonna be a buyers market for all those categories in the US because of the Boomer Generation dying off, guess the interest rates are pushing the rest of the World into that dynamic as well for a different reason...

One factor missing from the discussion is the "opportunity cost" of waiting for potentially lower prices. This, of course, differs for everyone, but, as an example, the buyer who chose to purchase a boat 1-2 years ago MAY (20/20 hindsight) have been able to get a lower price by waiting, but their decision to move forward also means that they have been able to enjoy the boat for the past 1-2 years while someone who was arguably more "patient" has not enjoyed those benefits. What's that worth? Well, for some people, it's worth the risk of paying more for a boat now than they would have if they waited. Others who don't value their time as much, or who have other priorities are willing to wait, and risk that the money they save by waiting will be of greater value than the time they "lost." Of course, money is something that you can always earn back. Time, unfortunately, once gone can never been recouped.
Good points. On top of that, someone who ordered a boat two years ago bought at a 20-40% discount to a current order! So yeh, hindsight is 20-20. Opportunity cost is usually used in a different way, but I get what you are saying. You can always make more money, but you can never make more time. Thankfully, none of know just how much of the latter we have left.
@@TheOKellys My approach to major purchases like this has been to focus on finding the “right” boat (or whatever) and, once that is achieved, to then find a way to make the numbers work. Find the one that gives you that youthful feeling of excitement, adventure, comfort, etc…. We pulled the trigger on a 1370 three+ years ago based on our experience on a 1260 and our knowledge of the builder. Having now gotten onto a 1370, we fortunately have no regrets and will soon be starting our adventures in SE Asia. Outremers were too much boat for us back then, and they leaned too far towards performance and away from comfort. But the newer one clearly shows that they are willing to make greater efforts towards boat life at anchor. I hope you find a way to make one happen - seems like an ideal boat for someone with your experience and interests.
Congratulations Nick on your birthday achievement. I've been there, so I know that 50 isn't a happy birthday so much as it is an achievement. Happy 50th birthday Nick! thanks for keeping your word and providing the market update. Not into predictions either, but with Central banks targeting 2% inflation with restrictive monetary policy, also fancy the chances of headwinds. Seems that 10-20% inflation of the new cats are driven supply chain disruptions and higher construction costs rather than consumer demand. Sounds we´re on the levelling off phase.

Happy Birthday and congrats for 100K subscrubers. Let's cut to the chase - Three boats have offered you to accept your original offer. After 14-18 months, show us the boat! purchased!!
Interest rates and an overall market shift seems the safest bet. Good time to buy if you have good credit and a bank that'll front the loan. And happy birthday, Nick!
I have always said you have to wait for the honeymoon period to be over before making an offer on a boat. Sellers can be in love with their boats and you have to wait till those emotions have calmed. I went thru this same learning process. In fact I recall one time where a seller got frustrated with me and kept reaching back out trying to convince me I wanted his boat. This led me to the understanding that there are two happy days in a boaters life. The day he found the perfect boat, and the day he convinces someone else they found the perfect boat.
Higher interest rates are taking their toll on the finances of many. Patience, boat buyers. Greedy sellers need to get a reality check.
Happy Birthday Nick!! What an iconic and beautiful city for your birthday celebration. I’m sure wonderful memories were made. Good luck in your boat pursuit.
