  • Kickstarter is a crowdfunding website that has helped thousands of creators raise millions of dollars to launch their comic book projects.
If you're new to this platform I have 3 basic tips to getting through your first successful funded campaign:
    1 - Start Small - 04:17:24
    2 - Star Near The Finish - 07:21:20
    3 - Ask For Help - 10:53:55
This may sound like very basic information, but for your first project you just want to make sure you know the basic rhythms so you can scale up to larger projects in the future.
If this video was helpful to you please watch my recent video "How To Pitch To Image Comics" - • How to Submit a Pitch ...
If you follow my steps and create 6 issues of your comic book project on a smaller scale, by the time you have finished all six issues you will have a collection worthy of a trade paper back, which will be much more attractive to publishers of indie work.

This video was super helpful! I'm an illustrator but I've never done a creator owned comic, which I'm working on issue 1 of now! I'm nearly done with it so the trepidation about running my first Kickstarter has been creeping up a ton in my mind. I'll definitely be leaning heavily on the helpful knowledge you're so generously sharing here! :]

Fortunately since you are an illustrator your investment is more like time + materials (plus you probably intend to print the book) you can always break releases up into smaller more regular cadences like issues so you hit your goal quicker. Most of my projects were funded by just a handful of people like ~35 people

Great video man, this video was super helpful and encouraging. looks like I'm on the right path to getting my comic kickstarted! I'd love to see a video going in more depth about how to write the 'project story' and the pre-launch/social media advertising phase of a comic book Kickstarter.

As I get back into the swing of it I’m definitely going to be thinking about that. Tbh as a writer I have a very hard time summarizing my thoughts down to “what is essential” but it’s good practice nonetheless

I've got my one sentence pitch down (took a while but i did it), I just don't know how personal to get with the story of how I made my comic, If that makes sense.@@creatorowned851

Do you recommend Kickstarter or Indiegogo for comics with ADULT CONTENT?

I don’t have much context for indiegogos platform or its user base, Kickstarter seems to have its fair share of adult comics being created on the platform however
